Raking up a field of hay with the John Deere 2940 and Kuhn GA 4220 rake and having my buddy bale it up with his John Deere 4440 and claas 360 round baler
You need to hit that tractor seat that you're sitting on with some grease too! SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK with every little bump coming through on the video.
@@mikep7810 some fields have normal yields and some are below average- even with the extra rain. I think the cold temps we had slowed things down. I was working outside today, and it sure wasn't a great day to be in a hay mow! Better go get a cold one 🙂
With our rotarys I usually try to start raking where I finished mowing and rake backwards, with a little practice you can get to where you almost never drive over hay that has already been raked.
It look like nice full windrows. We are finally getting a good rain in Wisconsin when we needed it most. Surely will be a nice second crop in a couple of weeks. About how many round bales you make up? Just think of the square bales you would have.... Work in the mow. 😊
Yep, it's hay season here as well!! How about a closer look at the round baler? I thought I was busy doing 70 bales here last two days, you must have been close to a hundred?
I think you are looking into your future bud. We sold the old rollbar rake and love the rotary rake. If I buy a double rake it will be a double rotary!
knowing how hot it was a few days, I hope that tractor has good AC haha. How long were you out there? It looks like it took almost all day from the position of the sun.
I haven't seen any of the new John Deere round balers. The used ones I have seen I am not impressed with, and I wasn't trying to kill time I was raking the field. When you bump it up a few gears like you suggested you get going too fast and the rake is bouncing all over the place. I guess I'd rather take an extra couple of minutes and do a good job instead of a sloppy job and broken equipment and a field done fast
Great video. Great tractors. Great looking hay.
Thanks John.
Great awesome video mike, nice raking and great baler
Thank you. That baler sure does make some nice bales
Trucks looking good!
Yeah I gotta fire it up and make a video on it sometime soon
Wow those wind rows must be 3 ft. tall. Nice!!! Thanks from Georgian Bay
Thanks Don. I was real happy with how the hay turned out
There's gonna be some happy cows, I can almost hear'em chewin that beautiful hay. Have a great summer Mike!
Thank you Mark. They definitely seem to enjoy it
Beautiful field of hay Mike , cows are gonna love it! Great vid thanks!
Thanks Rich. The fields always look so nice when they are freshly cleared off
Great looking hay Mike. Hope to finish up 1st cutting here as soon as the rain breaks this humidity.
Yeah we've been unloading a bunch this week. Its been brutal with this humidity
Great video as always. Keep the videos coming!! My favorite time of year ( hay season)
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the video
Nice lookin' hay! The cattle are gonna enjoy that!
Thanks Herb. They certainly have enjoyed it
Really nice looking hay! I always enjoy the drone shots! 👍😎
Thanks Dennis. I'm glad you enjoyed it
I agree the smell of hay is the smell of work to be had
It definitely had a nice smell
Nice year for hay, truck looks sharp.
Thanks Matt. I was pretty happy with how it turned out
good looking hay and those windrows were huge
Yeah I was putting a lot of hay in them
Good morning mike look like you are going to have a good yeild of hay take care be safe.
Thanks James. Yeah it did very well
Great video 👍 looks a great crop of hay
Thank you. I was really happy with how the hay turned out
Some good looking hay!
Thanks Zeke. I was really happy with how it did
Hay looks nice! Be safe, have fun!
Thanks Gene. I was really happy with the hay
That’s some really sweet hay. The field produced well
Thanks Pete. I was really happy with the turn out. 110 bales around 5 bales per acre. Definitely beyond my expectations
Very good video thanks for your time to do the video showing your equipment works on the hay
Thanks Andrew. I'm glad you enjoy it
Hmm 4H and superclean don’t want to talk to me 🤷♂️ 🤣🤣 you nice guy you
Haha I know I have them all fooled!! LOL
Dad used to do things like that. Did farm tours for the local schools back when we were milking cows.
Great video Mike!
Thanks Greg. I'm glad you enjoyed it
You need to hit that tractor seat that you're sitting on with some grease too! SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK with every little bump coming through on the video.
Yep, that too
Those are some nice windrows Mike. Looks like a nice crop
Thank you. I really appreciate it
Like those rotroy rakes. Make hay dry lot sooner.
They do a real nice job
You're definitely right- round bales are the best bales to stack! Hay looked really nice. I am way behind on hay down here.
How is the hay looking down there. I as stacking hay in the mow today. This heat whooped my butt

Looks up Mike 👍
Thanks Keith
Looks like nice hay Mike.
Thank you. It was really nice hay
👍👍👍
Thank you
What I have found through my experience with a rotary rake is that it’s easier to rake your headlands last so you don’t run them over
Thats a good idea
With our rotarys I usually try to start raking where I finished mowing and rake backwards, with a little practice you can get to where you almost never drive over hay that has already been raked.
There isn't any hay around me that looks that nice
Hopefully you get some nice hay. Thank you, I was really happy with how this field turned out
one more week and we will be out in our feilds
Good luck when you get out in your fields
We went to our friends a couple if days ago and uploaded 2 wagons of square bails and the hay turned out really good this year
Hopefully the year continues to be good. We need it after last year
Looking like 150 bales on that field
Pretty close. 110

We ended up with 110 round bales. Very happy with the yield. Yeah I just got out of the hay mow today. This heat was brutal
The 29 must be running better now ? Great video Mike !
Yeah its been running pretty good as of late. We are keeping an eye on it still
Looks like a decent yield 4 bales or so to the acre
Thanks Kevin. 110 bales total so it was around 5 bales per acre. Really happy with the yield
Yep, it's hay season here as well!! How about a closer look at the round baler? I thought I was busy doing 70 bales here last two days, you must have been close to a hundred?
Good eye Gary. The final could was 110. Really happy with that on 22 acres!
Mi has been dry 1st was a JOKE but the storms started 4 days ago...6 & a half inches 🤪
Holy cow. Thats a lot of rain
I still see a rake hitch and 2 newholland 256 takes in the future 😎👍
I think you are looking into your future bud. We sold the old rollbar rake and love the rotary rake. If I buy a double rake it will be a double rotary!
You need to get a hold of the millennial farmer and get some WD-40 from him for your squeaky seat 😁
Maybe he'll even deliver it!
Nice mike exelent work greetings from burley idaho
Thank you Carlos. Glad you enjoyed it
@@mikep7810 👍😁
Do you top dress your hay fields in the spring and then again after taking off first crop? Sure is some nice looking hay!
We put some fertilizer down in the spring, however, this field didn't get any fertilizer.
knowing how hot it was a few days, I hope that tractor has good AC haha. How long were you out there? It looks like it took almost all day from the position of the sun.
I went right up after the 4H zoom meeting and was there till about 9ish
If you had a Deere baler that small patch would have been baled the day before yesterday.

What drone do you use?
I use the DJI mavic mini 2
Does the new blue truck have a Cummings engine?
No the red one has the cummins. The International has the DT466
@@mikep7810 Thanks. For some reason it did not sound like our old DT466? My hearing is going. Nice hay!
Bump that sucker up about 6 gears! How much time are you trying to kill?
If I bumped the tractor up 6 gears I wouldn't be killing time I'd be killing the rake!
👍👏👏👏
Thanks Ozz
