I know you're making this crudely simple, but as a guitar player trying to get some instruction on creating bass lines that's exactly what I need. Thank you!
Thank you for this lesson, I really appreciate you doing this vid. Been feeling deflated with my bass playing recently and this is exactly what I needed. 👌😊
Phil Deon, Thanks for your appreciation. This double bass is a plywood bass. It is a Juzek circa 1930s. The pickup I use is the Full Circle. In many videos I use the pickup and a microphone. Here I am only using the pickup. I am using the Zyex normal guage strings. As you can hear it has a wonderful tone and speaks quickly. It is not at all tubby, like some plywoods can be. This is a very easy bass to play.
A great lesson by a great teacher. The music world needs more guys like this.
Great tone. Great lesson. No nonsense.
I can see you're a patient teacher, which is great! :)
Given your gentle approach to instruction, I hereby dub you the Bob Ross of Bass Lessons. Nice, relaxing, and informative lesson 👍

Went to a rehearsal after playing through with this vid and absolutely smashed it! Thanks again. Have you got any vids on Blue Daniel?
That's great to hear. Don't know Blue Daniel.
Its a Cannonbal Adderley track, lovely tune. Thanks again!
Is it possible to teach this same lesson with “So What”? I’m only curious, Mr. Stinnett.
Love your teaching style. Can you tell us a bit about your (excellent sounding) upright? Make, carved/ply, strings, and pickup?
Phil Deon,
