It is weird but I really like the way you explain about ACS coffee machines. Makes me want to purchase one and have it shipped to here in Madagascar. A grower and roaster is starting some very interesting things here. Reuters did an article. If you are interested just search for bat spit coffee. I am a newbie but I like the idea of supporting the local farmers.
They do...it is quite a job to keep the temperature constant with thermoblocks, as they have an inherent thermal mass and temperature is directly related to flow. If the flow slows down, sure you can cut the heat, but that small volume of water starts to heat quite rapidly and you can do little about that. I am testing a machine at the moment which uses a PID controlled thermoblock to brew and because of the sudden overheat issue when flow stops actually uses a solenoid valve to vent the thermoblock...but more about that when my lightweight review comes out....
