It didn't hurt his career. He is still getting movie roles, commercials, TV appearances, and continuing with and getting more product partnerships. Pete also has his own TV show coming out. It probably hurt his credibility with some fans though. Part of his appeal is his realness. Hanging out with someone known for superficiality takes away from that quality.
