I'm exploring the possibility of working in wastewater treatment, and your channel is definitely helping me see some of the duties I'd be performing on the job. Thanks!
Awesome! I'd love to see vids that SHOW me the actual preliminary, primary, secondary, and tertiary processes . I know there are various methods for accomplishing each, but I want to see what happens rather than read about it.
BTW... Thanks to this video, we built a rig very similar to yours. It's not perfect, as there are some things Operations would have done differently, but it works. Saves the wrestling of such a long sampler.Highly recommend investing in this sort of rig as it makes the samples more uniform, accurate and eliminates some handling damage to the samplers.
Hi John! I’m brand new to WW science and I’m looking for a more ergonomic sludge collection container. I like the jug you used (with the milk-jug-type handle). Where can I find those? I’m searching for ideas to pass along to my boss. Thanks for the content!
1. In case of lamella rectangular secondary clarifer how to measure sludge blanket depth. 2. In case of seconadry calrifer , is seems good to use cationic polymer regular or use it periodically
John, Would you mind if I add your content to my playlist on my channel ? I regularly share all content I scour from UA-cam that seems valuable to plant staff staff at my facility and to operators that can use it on the Facebook group Water / Waster operators of the World Unite. The first video you posted on sample collection is excellent !!! Looking forward to more and I agree with your premise. SEEING is half the battle in understanding. Picture worth a thousand.... yeah. If you say no, I completely understand. Please note that I share this information only for the betterment of the staff in our industry. I get nothing out of it and am only playlisting links. I make no claims to any of the content though you have inspired me to maybe do my own someday. Tom Slovik - Supervisor - City of Reading, PA WWTP - Fritz's Island
John, Thank You. Whoever does the video work... great job there too. I dabble in that myself. When I'm not polishing poop that is. QUESTION: The Sludge Judge / Core Sampler rig... Self built ? Pretty cool. Can you share details on that ? We have some mighty deep clarifiers. 160ft dia / 15ft side wall putting our core samplers @ 20ft bottom of tank to foot rail of catwalk. Add 42" railings and yeah... you have a crazy long core sampler. Our operators would appreciate a rig like you have. If you can share any info on that, we'd appreciate it. If it's your design, you should patent it. My e-mail Thomas.slovik@readingpa.gov
So there are a few different sizes out there and depending on which one you choose you can get variation between the individual vessels, but I think the 2L with properly marked graduations for a settlometer is by far the most standard. Also, if you can afford glass they last till you break them, whereas the plastic will fade over time.
great video!! for a graduate student researching wastewater treatment your channel is a gem

Ahmad glad to hear from you again!
I sent you an email, we can talk about this some more

I’m doing my own videography and trying to improve. We put the core rig together I’ll send you some photos and sources.
Thanks again
can you tell me , is the diameter of settlometer effects the experiment
