- Our train today consists of just a locomotive on it's way to pick up an empty ethanol train and bring it back to Basel. From there a French locomotive will take it to the Normandy region.
The sun is setting as we leave and as a result the lighting isn't optimal, but its ok. There will be better recordings of this line coming in the future. A few things have changed since this video was shot, making it worthwhile to publish, despite it's shortcomings.
Enjoy the sounds of the old commutator motors as we cruise through the Laufen valley, on the 1875 Jurabahn line.

fun especially when it went through the
rural areas and there was no one outside
except for those on the roads in vehicles

That was a very rural ride. Almost a workingman's ride. Hard to describe. The train was fast and smooth. Thanks for posting these videos so someone like me can see places that I will never live to see in real life.

Thank you, this is an excellent representation of a lesser known part of your beautiful country - the setting sun adds so much atmosphere, no complaints from this viewer - surprised though to see you claim Soyhières closed in 2012 - from memory it was taken away in the wave of streamlining/bustitution of the early '90s that also saw the disappearance of all those wayside halts on the Gotthard and the Northern slope of the Lötschberg - is it possible that this stop was tentatively reopened at some point in the early '00s? Certainly my 1996 copy of the Kursbuch showed it only served by local bus - thereapart this is a useful historical document as the line around Grellingen and Duggingen will soon be realigned and doubled - thanks again for sharing \m/
I'm not sure why I put 2012, I took it from my last video from Laufen to Porrentruy. I remember reading somewhere that soyhieres was used a bit longer because it was repositioned in the 90's.. but I'm no longer sure. Maybe it was only at peak hours. There's a picture of the old station that was closer to the town on wikipedia.
@@lorirocks777 my reply disappeared because I had a link to a local report in there but essentially the history is that the main highway was realigned South of the town in the mid '80s, along with the railway - the 'new' station opened in 1986 and closed in 1993 (thus similarly to the others) - the 'old' staion was converted to apartments - distinctly remember the old setup having boards across the track for direct access to the trains \m/
@@lorirocks777 Wikipedia says the station has been closed in the 90s. This agrees with Swisstopo maps from around that time where the indication for a station (the shaded rectangles for the platforms) disappear on the 1994 map, same in Bärschwil.
Edit: The old station building in Soyhières is the red-white building on the right at 38:24, the tracks passed behind it though.

Most enjoyable, thank you. I was puzzled to see 12-car mainline trains on a secondary line. Peak-hour alternate route?
Thanks. It was a peak hour commuter, using the full 225 metres that the platforms between Basel and Delémont allow (if you meant the 3 Flirts). RABDe 500 (ICN) trains also operate here between Biel and Basel once an hour in each direction. When doubled, they are just under 400 metres, changing direction in Delémont, stopping in Laufen and terminating in Basel.

Es zeigt an dass die Fahrstrasse in Richtung Münchenstein eingestellt ist. Alternativ wäre Dreispitz GB.

Diese Strecke dient vorallem dem Personenverkehr, Güterzüge sehe ich selten.
Ich bin mit Holzzüge von Porrentruy, Glovelier & Delémont auf der Strecke gefahren, sowie Ethanolzüge von Alcosuisse in Delémont und Ölzüge von Basel über Delémont und Moutier nach Cremines. Liesberg ist meines wissens der einzige unterwegs Bahnhof der noch bedient wird.

Ils ont été utilisés pour certains services régionaux pendant les heures de pointe jusqu'en 2021 environ.
