You know what's really scary? That "I love you, daughter" speech. People complain all the time how there's too much effort to try and make villains sympathetic, but this is just the right touch. There's no reason for him to lie at this point, he has everything he wants and he's very much winning that fight regardless, but he says it anyway. He really loves her...and he's going to kill her anyway.
There is nothing scary about this.
Not scary but interesting character dialogue as he states he loves her but then sheds it off as a weakness. Makes me wonder if all that time with Kara really did make him feel like a parent.

Okay, not gonna lie, I am LOVING this version of Brainiac. Its still technically the same character, but with a somewhat fresh twist.
I can't wait until he becomes Quintus Braniac (if you know what I mean) when he possesses some green skinned alien from the planet Colu. Despite all he's done, he kinda feels like Omniman in that he acknowledges that he loves but thinks that he must deny it.

i think one thing a lot of characterizations of braniac have too much of is this logic machine with a singular directive. It sets up a cool love vs logic conflict but its so very clear cut.

I'd check out his most recent iteration in house of Brainiac. That and the Brainiac queen is nuts. There was also that hot minute when he was a god who could apparently bring back dead contknuities to fight each other... comics themselves are creepy 😂.

Technically, you can't really turn superman evil because that would fundamentally change who he is as a character.
The best way you can get an evil superman is if he was being deceived into doing something evil or is controlled by someone (as you can see right now).
Edit: before i get flooded by comments talking about injustice superman, I have never been much of a superman fan, i don't know the history. This is just my analysis from the little i do understand about superman.

This Brainiac is so ruthless. Other versions want knowledge this one wants to eliminate weakness. So far loving this version of the character.
Interesting that Kryptonians are genetically engineered in this show. Would explain why Supes is so strong: he's from the most recent generation of Kryptonians. Wonder if this is how they'll do Doomsday: have him be Task Force X's attempt at creating their own Kryptonian, one with the ability to adapt and evolve with every fight

not the first time this concept has been brought up with Krypton. In those versions they're usually born in castes. Zod being a warrior by design naturally. Sometimes the excuse is simply that Kryptonians have had struggles with child birth, other times it's simply designer babies, then in the slightly darker versions it's because of pure utility to keep their civilization alive. Some are born with a purpose in mind in those versions.

At first I wasn't a fan of the voice, but I am fully sold by it now. I think it is the perfect voice not only for this Brainiac, but AM from I have no mouth. A logical machine that IS capable of love and understanding emotions, yet is manic and made unhinged by them instead of boosted by them. The sharp edge of the delivery is perfect for a AI that has but cannot monitor its own emotional levels.
I really love this version of Brainiac, even to the point that he even points out his own "weakness" that was given to him and yet he knows it's the thing he needs to carved out of him to become perfect
This Brainiac is the best version. I like how throughout this episode, we saw how complex a character he is. We learned a little about his creation in episode 7 and in this one we dive more into Brainiac purpose in service to the Kryptonian empire, what caused him to change his priorities to only serve, and how developing emotions had an affect in his decision in the destruction of Krypton and raising of Kara. This version shows what happens when you give an artificial life free will and what will happen if we create something but take no responsibility foe it. Like Jeff Goldblum quoted " Its not about whether or not we could,its about whether or not we should." Love this series, look forward to more of My adventures with Superman.
I thought before that the idea of Brainiac being the primary antagonist of a new Superman film trilogy might not work as well as General Zod in Man of Steel, but this might prove me wrong. I originally wanted to save that for the final film so that not only would Superman find Supergirl, but so that he can recover the shrunken city of Kandor.

The film trilogy would have ended with hope for the Kryptonian race to be reborn and he would really be the bridge between the two worlds to unite, therefore completing his archetype.
headcannon time: if they decided to write brainiac as needing a new body, perhaps that means after clark is freed of him, they're gonna have brainiac inhabbit a green alien (knowing this show, it'll probably be a martian) and give us the classic brainiac design

There's a difference: Those Supermen, Injustice, Justice Lord, Red Son, became evil by Clark's/Kal-El's choice.
Adventures Superman is being evil against his will.
Those Supermen's minds, hearts, reputations, their very lives as heroes can't be saved because Clark chose to be evil (usually due to warped circumstances or being affected by a tragedy too great that breaks Superman spiritually), but this Superman's can be because Clark can still choose to do the right thing before it's too late. Kara, Jimmy, and Lois just need to loosen Brainiac's grip for Adventures Clark to save himself from within.

He then mentions that same weakness exists inside him for Kara. He loves her but he doesn't want to love her, because he views Love as a hindrance to his Prime Directive. His mission is to expand the influence of the Krypton Empire and advance the Scientific Field, affection gets in the way.
It’s really chilling/smart when he starts telling Kara how he loves her the roboticness in his voice drops and it’s more human.

Yeah, though I think it would be weird in this show because Kara sees Braniac as her father and B5 thinks of him as his father too. Since she is ending up with Jimmy in this, if B5 is ever introduced they probably will have a brother and sister relationship instead.
