    Note that you're not pulling 8 amps from your car's alternator - you're pulling at least 16.

    Hey Roger, thanks for sharing your video on this charging system set up. Wondering if you could either tell me how your set up is working or make a update video on what (if anything) you made adjustments to over the 5 months since you've been using it. Thank again & keep up the great work 😊

      Hi, still going strong and haven’t touched a thing. I just had it running on a 3.5 hour drive two weeks ago on a 90F day and it did just fine.
      I got the idea from this forum thread: community.bluettipower.com/t/fast-car-charging/746
      This other YT video compares three different boost converters (including the cheap one I'm using):

    Daygreen and Victron make a whole line of step up transformers.
    I charge my Pecron E1500LFP at 580w with a Daygreen 12v to 58v dc to dc charger. The Pecron takes up to 95V at 15A.

    • @ggg4runner
      @ggg4runner  8 місяців тому

      Sorry for late response, missed your comment. That Pecron looks like a great unit! The Bluetti I use has a 10-145VDC 15A (900W solar) input and a 58.8VDC 8A input. So, I use the 8A input for the DC/DC boost converter and leave the 15A for my solar panels that are hard mounted up on my rooftop tent to get simultaneous charging which works out well for my needs. Thanks for watching and for introducing that Pecron E1500LFP!

      Doesnt Pecron have their own transformer? PECRON 500W Car Charger DC1242-500... And I also saw this Baseus 500W Pure Sine Wave Inverter not sure how these compare.

      how much amps does Daygreen pull?

  • @geekazoid
    @geekazoid Рік тому +2

    In the notes for that step up converter it says to never connect to a MPPT charge controller. The port you are using on the AC200MAX is a MPPT charge controller.

    • @ggg4runner
      @ggg4runner  Рік тому +1

      It also says “never charge the battery” below that so 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Where did you mount the booster? I’m concerned about cooling

    • @ggg4runner
      @ggg4runner  Рік тому +1

      Inside my driver side fender. Mine barely got warm to the the touch so I’m not that worried with my setup. But, it’d be pretty easy to wire up a small computer fan to it if you need to.

  • @briankeniry219
    @briankeniry219 Рік тому +2

    Very interesting. I was wondering about using a low amp DC to DC unit such as Victron as it limits the amps and the voltage can be set in the parameters on the app.

    • @tybrady4598
      @tybrady4598 10 місяців тому

      I think the app is for their smart charger, which is needed for charging batteries. But a power station already has a smart charger, so you don’t need the more expensive Victron DC to DC charger. I just bought their plain 12v to 24v 10 amp charger. Was around $65.

    Using a cigarette lighter outlet to charge 120watt hour will use gasoline, but in a hybrid vehicle using a cigarette lighter outlet to charge 120watt hour is okay because hybrids run mostly on their 2KW Nimh battery when parked

      That's interesting. I know nothing about electronics so don't want to tinker but do have a Hybrid Camry and just bought a Bluetti EB3A and was wondering how the hybrids may differ from standard. Let me know if there is anything I should be wary of please.

    Love it Roger - what panels are you using on your roof and how do you connect them to your bluetti? And thanks for the great video.

    • @ggg4runner
      @ggg4runner  Рік тому +2

      I use two Renogy Black Division (100w 12v) Panels wired in series and they are pretty efficient. In full direct sun I've seen them get up to 186w of input shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1577861&u=3505806&m=96785&urllink=&afftrack=
      The solar panels use the "PV" input (the one with two prongs you saw in the video) and the Bluetti came with that cable. It's an Aviation plug on one side and an XT-90 connector on the other side. So, the panels go to standard solar MC4 connectors then to the XT-90 and finally the Aviation plug.
      Not sure if that helped? Hit me up on the FB group if you have more questions, no problem helping with whatever I can.

    I’m trying to install something similar but use my 8 switch panel (auxbeam brand). Would I just wire the voltage converter from the switch panel to the power station?

    • @ggg4runner
      @ggg4runner  Рік тому

      As long as that switch panel can handle the amperage of your converter or you’ll keep blowing fuses.

  • @jeepncj7
    @jeepncj7 Рік тому +1

    This is interesting. For my Ecoflow I would still do inverter as I can lower the charge watts. But it makes sense to boost the voltage in your example for less voltage loss.

    • @ggg4runner
      @ggg4runner  Рік тому

      Yeah the Ecoflows have nicer input hardware/firmware and you don't need a giant AC charging brick from what I understand.

    • @jeepncj7
      @jeepncj7 Рік тому +1

      @@ggg4runner Yeah they have it incorporated for Ecoflow. I'll probably go for a 500w inverter for mine at key on, and leave the 12v as is since I only have a 100w panel feeding my other house battery. How do you like the Lensun controller? I have a true dual battery system right now(AGM), but may get rid of it and just go for a single X2POWER 27f with a LVD and then a separate MPPT controller like the Lensun. Less weight and complexity is what I am after these days lol.

    • @ggg4runner
      @ggg4runner  Рік тому +1

      The Lensun hood panel and MPPT have been flawless but it only feeds my starter AGM battery. I'm running two 100w Renogy panels on top of the RTT in series straight into the Bluetti which has also been great for my current needs.

      That's great to hear! It is one that I am eyeing if I decide to sell off my dual system and just go more simple.

    This seems complicated. Or atleast too complicated for my usage. I have an ecoflow max(750kwh). It charges at 200 watts if i need i keep an 1k watt inverter ill jusy run atraight from battery or get 300 watts from the rear 12v outlet with the inverter(also a 3rd gen 4runner owner).

    • @ggg4runner
      @ggg4runner  Рік тому

      I don't have that rear 12v outlet on mine but 200w at 12v is 16.67 amps so I'm not sure how you're not blowing the fuse. Unless that rear power outlet is a 24v?

      @@ggg4runner i plug in my 1000w inverter into the 12v and its supposed to givr me 300 watts but i think im only getting 200 watts or so. Ill update later if i remember the exact chwrge amount im getting. 200 or 300 watts is enough for me with my 750kwh battery snd 40w fridge.

    Friend, why not just use small 12DC TO 110AC inverters.... then plug the power bank into inverter and charge it like at home @110AC (of course while the car is running)
    Thanks for the lessons!
