I binge watched all the old BSG and Gold Rush's, and I'm getting SO exhausted with this apparent need to have some sort of drama or potential accident (always) right before a commercial break. A favorite Bearing Sea Gold moment is when there was a big storm coming and Emily was only captain who wisely decided to pull her boat out of the water. I couldn't help but chuckle watching the other captains sweat it out fighting the wind and rising water. All ended well, but a valuable lesson was taught.

Am so glad you survived BSG overcoming all those challenges with your strong spirit. The memory of you that sticks in my mind most though, is you jumping in the sea one season in just a bikini. I worked years in a swimming pool and if the temp was 81f instead of 82, it felt freezing and I wouldnt go in!!!!. God only knows how you did that. I never so anyone else swimming there. Emily, The body language shows with the slow blink and the eyelid flutter that your uncomfortable in front of the camera. But, I can also see the tiger mom wanting to make money to support your family. Stay with it, I followed from the beginning so there is something intrinsically worth watching. Maybe think about interviewing other characters, maybe not from the old show or may be from the old show too. Where are they now, or lifestyle bits.
Your youtube is much better. You get to control everything and don't have to take time to repeat things. Love your youtube. It shows the mining instead of the constant drama. Hope your enjoying cali. Hoping your all safe from the fires. Sadly for those who don't know the shack on the beach she was in was taken and destroyed by the storm merbock that hit nome a few years ago. My husband had used the same shack for years and had even fixed it uo. He was in it when the storm took it he survived but it was insane night.

Ironically, Gold Rush improved after the Hoffman's left the show. My wife and I hated Todd's crew and enjoyed watching them fail and leave. The Hoffman crew proved money can't buy hard work and competent crew. Even Freddy Dodge couldn't save the Hoffman's. Look at Dave Turin, Juan and Freddy having successful shows without drama and fighting. Keep mining and we will keep watching!
Honestly, I didn't even know the network show was still a thing. I've been HERE for the show ever since I found this channel. The network show was a great stepping stone to what you have now but this style is leagues better than the network format. Keep doing what you love and things will only keep getting better for you!!

I`ve done commercial catfishing on Toledo Bend Lake in winter. I had to pull in these huge hoop nets by myself, dump the fish, sort them with frozen fingers while getting finned, bait the nets with stinky cheese, and set them back in the water with the other guy running the boat. Then we had to clean the 2000 or more pounds of fish, weigh and bag them, take my share back to my market, cut them up for orders and walk-ins, weigh and bag them again. I had to handle each fish multiple times. This also required loading/unloading everything and on fishing day loading and unloading the buckets of frozen fish waste to return it to the lake to feed the turtles. This was every other day from 3am until around 3pm and then return to the market to wait on customers until 9pm.
Dear Emily, I don't watch TV Programs/Series' much anymore, but I did greatly enjoy the first Seasons of 'BSG,' especially your arrival and all the things you went through learning the Trade, gaining the skills and then Captaining your own Vessel(s) and Crew(s). Inspirational doesn't do it justice, and your tenacity/stubbornness to NOT let it defeat you is my definition of what a real 'Strong Woman' is/should be, no matter what she chooses to do with her life! When you met your BF, then got married, and then became pregnant/had your first child, I said to myself, "I wonder if she's going to continue this, or move on from it?" Leaving 'Discovery,' (And any/all of the Red Tape such an arrangement demands!), has to be such a relief! Not having to do something another wants to see and charting your own course/schedule IS the best way to live/work/exist, imho. Thank you so very much for letting us see your Journey! This was a great interview, Emily. One of the many things I like about your UA-cam channel versus B.S.G. is that I know it's real and not exaggerated for television. Your main focus is documenting your journey as gold miners in an incredibly inhospitable environment, rather than telling a story. Seeing your family and friends enduring the very real struggle to survive and make an honest living, just like the rest of us, is more genuine than any reality television show ever created. Thanks Emily for your exciting episodes. I know the work is rough and having worked a half mile underground for a dozen years, I know how weird mining towns can be. The weather in Alaska though, geez, that's gotta be rough being cold and wet all the time. What I found exciting was hearing about having to have claims, finding gold from river flows into the ocean from old famous mining areas, and seeing how gold is processed from the ore. I'll continue watching Bering Sea Gold episodes and the Deadliest Catch but wish you well in California. I certainly hope you are safe from the current fires in your area. A really brilliant idea Emily to make this and post it.I enjoyed this so much more than anything I have watched in a long time....Honestly.It's like the Apex to me of BSG...I have moved away from the show...But I have stayed here on YT with you.Again this is just an incredible look inside your career on the show...I cant thank you enough for this and all you gave to me watching BSG.I will be right here with you on YT for as long as you stay.

I don't think I ever wished anyone to not succeed, with the exception of Ziek, and that was only because he didn't treat Emily properly.
I`ve done commercial catfishing on Toledo Bend Lake in winter. I had to pull in these huge hoop nets by myself, dump the fish, sort them with frozen fingers while getting finned, bait the nets with stinky cheese, and set them back in the water with the other guy running the boat. Then we had to clean the 2000 or more pounds of fish, weigh and bag them, take my share back to my market, cut them up for orders and walk-ins, weigh and bag them again. I had to handle each fish multiple times. This also required loading/unloading everything and on fishing day loading and unloading the buckets of frozen fish waste to return it to the lake to feed the turtles. This was every other day from 3am until around 3pm and then return to the market to wait on customers until 9pm.

I don't watch TV Programs/Series' much anymore, but I did greatly enjoy the first Seasons of 'BSG,' especially your arrival and all the things you went through learning the Trade, gaining the skills and then Captaining your own Vessel(s) and Crew(s). Inspirational doesn't do it justice, and your tenacity/stubbornness to NOT let it defeat you is my definition of what a real 'Strong Woman' is/should be, no matter what she chooses to do with her life!
When you met your BF, then got married, and then became pregnant/had your first child, I said to myself, "I wonder if she's going to continue this, or move on from it?" Leaving 'Discovery,' (And any/all of the Red Tape such an arrangement demands!), has to be such a relief! Not having to do something another wants to see and charting your own course/schedule IS the best way to live/work/exist, imho.

One of the many things I like about your UA-cam channel versus B.S.G. is that I know it's real and not exaggerated for television. Your main focus is documenting your journey as gold miners in an incredibly inhospitable environment, rather than telling a story. Seeing your family and friends enduring the very real struggle to survive and make an honest living, just like the rest of us, is more genuine than any reality television show ever created. And as humans, that's one thing we all have in common - the struggle is real.

Thanks Emily for your exciting episodes. I know the work is rough and having worked a half mile underground for a dozen years, I know how weird mining towns can be. The weather in Alaska though, geez, that's gotta be rough being cold and wet all the time. What I found exciting was hearing about having to have claims, finding gold from river flows into the ocean from old famous mining areas, and seeing how gold is processed from the ore. I'll continue watching Bering Sea Gold episodes and the Deadliest Catch but wish you well in California. I certainly hope you are safe from the current fires in your area.
