The moment with this song in chapter 7 was probably my favorite, i don't even know why since i loved the final part story more in like a normal way, but this part just kind of had a diffrent impact. maybe its the fact it explained where retems song of mourning originated from, touching on such an unimportant thing storywise and giving more importance, that not only was it to mourn those in retem but originaly those who died when the starless attacked. and the fact that this is how zephetto might have expressed his emotions and frustrations regarding his and mankinds loss. the sorrow he must have felt loosing everything while unconscious and the frustration of the fact that those that did this didnt even bother finishing the job and just left without reason or warning must have been immense. im kind of bummed that we lost him, i feel like zephetto could have been an incredible character, i could imagine him being set on not trying to seek forgiveness, since he doesnt believe he deserves it ( and probably the regret of learing he caused so much pain to fight the starless, but that is just what they wanted ), but most likely aina would do her best to mend halphians relationship with him, ending up with a complicated yet slowly healing relationship with him. Our remorseful father figure, secretly ready to sacrifice himself to save someone from the main character group ( most fitting would be manon i think, since she would still carry most of the resentment towards him ) to pay for his sins. But in the end, maybe he isnt gone fully, maybe there will still the his last spark inside Vael when we fight him, his final sacrifice, stopping Vael for a split second to give us an oportunity to win.

Hearing this in-game was one of those moments where i just had to sit back and listen, in general Chapter 7 was probably the biggest highlight of the game so far and this part of it stood out so strongly to me

Before the cast started speaking about the song, i noticed it immediately and wondered why it was playing. The moment they explained the song and its meaning in the Nameless City, I figured it out immediately. It was never for the people of Retem, they adopted it and simply forgot with time where it came from.
