- Amiens Cathedral is the largest in France, 200,000 cubic metres (260,000 cu yd), large enough to contain two cathedrals the size of Notre Dame of Paris.
The cathedral has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981.
The cathedral was built almost entirely between 1220 and c. 1270, a remarkably short period of time for a Gothic cathedral, giving it an unusual unity of style. From the ground to sculpted cockerel at the pinnacle, the flèche or spire reaches a height of 112.70 m (369.8 ft) Amines is about 120 km north from Paris
I’ve been there and the interior is so breathtakingly beautiful and they had a terrific colored light show in the evening at least in the 90’s when I visited.
Beautiful thanks be to God!
Très connue.
Elle est très belle.
And it survived two world wars...
The largest cathedral in the world after St Peter by inches is the cathedral in Sevilla Spain!
