My favorite Bears game of all time. Their first playoff victory since 1963. Many iconic moments. Some of the hardest hits you'll ever see, notably Todd Bell on Joe Washington. The playoff wins in '85 through the Super Bowl were almost expected, as great as they were. This was uncharted. This was on the road, with ther backup quarterback and no playoff experience against established NFC vanguard. What a great day.
"Suey is a much better runner than people give him credit for." Absolutely true. He was a great runner. Rock solid, tough. He was a great complement to Payton and would have been the big, big star if Payton weren't there. Calvin Thomas was no slouch, either.
The Bears would go on to lose the following week to the 49’s…I remember my crazy uncle Charlie stand up and declare the Bears 85 team were going to win the Super Bowl next year. My dad told him, “Nope…this was their year and they BLEW IT”….😅
This was a huge upset. Washington was heavily favored to win this game. The defensive play was, of course, outstanding, but the offense looked good in this game as well. I know this is an edited copy of this game, but the offensive play calling was good, and Steve Fuller played well. Check out the bears vs. the raiders from '84. It was uploaded by a guy named Iron Man Jeff. It's an awesome game! ESPN rated it as one of the most violent football games ever.
With Fuller at the helm the Bears couldn't score even a single point against the 49ers the following week. Had McMahon been healthy, the Bears could have at least made the game competitive -- and would've had a realistic chance of pulling off a major upset.

The only time the Redskins lost a playoff game at RFK
Frank Glieber's next-to-last year of his life. He died tragically in 1985 at the age of only 51. He used to do Cowboys games!
Haven't seen chopping madness like this since Benihana.
do you have the full game unedited?>
They punished Theisman that day.
