SAND LEVELING for a FLAT LAWN with the BIG DRAG

  • We did it! We brought Left Tool's lawn from start to finish with Tahoma 31 sod in the spring and made his lawn flat with sand. His bermuda lawn has completely recovered from the sand leveling now and looks great! I am a bit jealous of his Tahoma 31 bermudagrass.
We busted out the leveling drag for this project. Sand leveling can be a huge task but the right sand leveling tools can make it much more efficient. The Toro Titan helped with the sand leveling project a TON. I had never used a zero turn mower for this before but it made a big difference as the turns could be much tighter. People with smaller lawns take note! Small lawns can use a sand leveling drag too!

I don't understand why the yard was leveled to begin with. Wasn't it leveled when the house was built? The leveling sand doesn't look like it was doing much. Like the yard is already level.
I also don't understand why the yard is so incredibly tiny. Even if the lawn isn't flat it's so small how would you notice? It's not like you're getting up to 7 mph limit of the mower shown, if they cut with that.
So what was the point of this?

How much sand per sq feet would you recommend? I need this done in my front and back yards. Let me know please...

The real question is who in their right mind would use sand in their lawn?!

Will this work with a washboard yard?

Depends on what you mean by that but yes, if our definitions are the same

@@TheLawnTools previous owner used to have a garden that was shared by 2 other neighbors. 30X90 area that has highs and lows from garden rows. Been thinking about trying the sand leveling. The garden has not been there for more than 15 years, but the area is still like a washboard.

razz2o46 gotcha. Well as long as the difference between high and low isn’t more than a couple inches, it will work. May be getting a little close to fall for it to be this year though. Depends on your climate
