Sidenote for organized people! If you're focusing on timing, I talked about it in two different parts of the video, one where its grouped in a different match than where I was supposed to talk about it. If you want to focus on timing, the footnote is at 1:11:33. Thank you for watching the video, and comment if you have any further questions about certain topics.
I told Pi he could pick any replay of mine he wanted, and he definitely picked an interesting one. Based on stats and TR, I was expecting to go about 1-7 or 2-7. I was outmatched in both speed and APM. Because of that, I played as conservatively as possible. Usually I greed for more attack, even during the downstack, but my one and only goal the entire match was to simply survive long enough to find a huge lucky spike. It worked six times. Even though I ultimately lost, I'm happy with the outcome, because I popped off like crazy.
its actually a cool lecture and a lot of people could learn a lot from this, and also your way of talking is entertaining imo so its not boring to watch, very nice work sec :D
1:00:02 Not ever using an I piece and using an I piece in your stack occasionally are two separate things. Same goes for T. You may be 'wasting' a T-Spin by using a T-Piece in your stack, but at the same time you might fix an uneven field which pays off in the long run. Just wanted to put this out there Thanks for the tips! I'll try incorporating them!
my playstyle is brainless apm spam, just opener gaming (mostly tki, pco and sdpc) and then just playing without ever caring about my opponent's board or playstyle lol I'm at 23k7 TR now, hopefully this video can help me improve my strategies and get to X rank soon
Isn't it interesting that by providing this kind o content you are pretty much raising the threshold for higher ranks? Today's high U will be tomorrow's high SS 🙏
the game ranks by percentile so unless everyone gets better at the game simultaneously it should be as difficult as it was a few months ago to get u/x rank
@@25pi25 that too, but not just that, the general powerlevel of players has also been going up. While the average pps is still around 1.8, the apm has went up dramatically over the last 2 months I feel. it used to be around 40~45 most of the time but recently there's people going 50 or even 60+ without completely devoting to opener gaming
das/arr won't cut you off from x rank but it is important, most players set their arr to 0 and das to whatever is comfortable for them with 0 arr, you have to start multi-tapping and shifting your pieces all the way, as opposed to skill stopping which is an option with more than 0 arr in short 0 arr any das infinite sdf 0 dcd you can change your das over time but lower das doesn't always mean better
if you're against someone who cheeses, an effective strategy a lot of u ranks miss is cancelling cheese with quads/tsds, which greatly benefits the cleaner player I believe I cover this in timing, but if you cancel cheese then you won't have to deal with it, plus you play clean while countering the cheese meaning you can eventually out-apm them cheesers are annoying so if you want to really improve i would recommend practicing cheese head-on and maybe do 100l and try to get the least amount of blocks placed possible
hand pain? if you mean cramps then my biology teacher actually talked about something like this i would recommend if it's truly uncomfortable you change your controls, tetris isn't meant to have painful key placement flex your hands every match and see if you feel any discomfort, if you do then take a break if your hands generally just perform slower then you might want to slow down in your gameplay or destress, i know sometimes when i get tilted my hands freeze up sorry if i couldn't give better tips, i'm not an expert in hand cramps
efficient downstacking is mostly just being able to access your garbage well and clear those lines, if you lump in cheese with that too keep your board low so that when you recieve garbage you can send it back faster, which is a playstyle that works better more multiplayer than it does singleplayer and for cheese, you just have to get better at it or avoid cheese by cancelling it i would practice 100l cheese on jstris and go slow so you can get the least amount of placements possible, or if you like practicing clean use four-tris and set it to cheese mode to play as long as you want
0:49 why i'm here lol Every time I watch my replay, I look so bad. Especially this time around. I found out what I lacked. Thank you for the free lecture! +And I hit X ty
when you send 1 or 2 lines, they show up on the same column so if you send a combo with a bunch of 1/2 lines of garbage its shows up over different columns whereas clean garbage from a quad will all show up in the same column
You tend to lose most matches when you're playing around the middle-top of the board, and you win more when you have a low stack when you access your well, but you play very risky so I would probably either cut down on openers and start practicing downstacking for good combos or send small combos to cheese your opponent
ugh i hate this, i suck at tetris and my rank is EXTREMELY low (only 5k) buti'm only confused even more. my playing sucks as well and i need to improve that but i hvae no idea how. fuck.
