As a teacher of Canadian History, I find this presentation most fascinating and full of folklore and tales most history books don't even touch. Thank you, sir.
I absolutely LOVE your videos Hammerson. No other narration, animation & music come close. The history you tell is amazing and is little known in the US. Thanks for your content.
Brilliant Doc!! I have been looking forward to this video since watching your sneak peak the other day. My Acadian ancestors; besides the migmaw natives of course, were the first settlers on Ile St Jean circa 1720. Michel Hache dit Gallant and Anne Cormier. They moved their whole family from Beaubasin (Amhurst, N.S.) to Port Lajoye, Ile St Jean, modern day Rocky Point, PEI. There is a monument at Rocky Point dedicated to my ancestors Michel and Anne in honor of their founding. Not unlike most Maritimers' I love the island, for us it holds a very special place in all our hearts. But as an Acadian Maritimer', descending from the Hache Gallant line, there is an even deeper love of P.E. Island. An unbreakable familiar connection that keeps me wanting to go back time and time again. I'm from the Ile of Cape Breton and like PEI it too has a trove of folklore, legend and enchanting tales. One example, Our Gale, Acadian, and Migmaw ancestors passed down throughout the generations stories that told of the 'little people', 'changelings or the fay they are dwellers of the mossy woodland and the tales are endless. There are stories of Sea monsters, enchanted forest groves supernatural portals to the beyond and the countless tales of ghost ships and haunted lighthouses. Please consider doing something on Cape Breton. I promise you, you won't be disappointed and you won't be hard up for documented stories and legends of Cape Breton. Thanks for the well researched and interesting content you create and share on your channel. I Love your stuff and hope you keep creating. Peace and Love

Love your dedication to the documentaries that you make. Btw: my wife and I have watched to visit Prince Edward Island since we first watched Anne of Green Gables. Looks enchanting.
I wish that we had moved to Canada when we were young many times over the years. Way too old now. But I think Canada should be paying you young man because the stories you tell certainly make me want to visit!
What great stories! I'm taking my teenage kids (I wish the whole family was going but at least I will get some of the fam unplugged for a bit) deep into the Boundary Waters for a last trip before school starts. These stories are going to be great for the drive to the launch site. They are interesting and thought provoking but not to scary for sleeping in the woods. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into these videos. They will definitely put us into the mood for traveling into a wilderness with such rich legends!
Just to warn you, we don’t really have a whole lot on the way of deep woods, or wilderness at all. There are some beautiful parks out there, but you have to search for them

Thanks so much for this, some of these I've heard before but some I've never heard tell of. As an "Oilander" lol born and raised it's fantastic to hear these tales. I did see the burning ship off of Borden one fall evening. Scared the bejeesus out of me and my friend as we sat on the bank. We were around 12 or so and yaking like a couple of banshees when it came into view. We both shut up real quick and just stared at it. Not sure which of us spoke first "do you??" .... "Yup, let's not talk about this again". Figured we'd be called crazy and teased for the rest of our lives.
What a wonderful video! And such special tales of enchantment! I'm so glad I happened upon your channel. I look forward to many more thrilling stories!!
As much as I enjoy good story telling, yours are a unique and well versed selection of historical references that many can escape into. Thank you so very much for all you do. Really appreciate your way of telling a great collection of mystique that delves into folklore, supernatural and historical tales of the Canadian people.
H.P you rock brother. Im from Virginia on the east coast of the u.s but Canada is where I would move and live if I could, I really really have to go and visit one day. Love your stories and appreciate everytime you post a video! It always makes my day.
I'm a born and raised 30 year old Islander and wanted to say how interesting this was for me! I went to primary school at Westwood Primary School which is located about 500ft from the tributary off of the West River that's shore 150ft away is Hyde Park. I've walked my dogs in that park my entire life, and remember playing in the park as a young child. I've always loved it because there truely is an energy in the area you can feel affecting your body and mind. It's not overwhelming, but a peaceful serene feeling that does inspire wonder. Sadly we had hurricane 2 years ago that took down 40%~60% of the old trees in the park. Trees you can't wrap your arms around that surely would have been providing shade for 300 years. You can almost see nearly clear through the park now when before you couldn't see 50ft off the trail. But the community of Cornwall has been fixing it up. I went fishing there a few times this last summer but never caught anything, I was also learning how to fly fish so I'll blame my inexperience ;) But thanks for the video! I got a good laugh out of you referring to "down east" when talking about the SE section of the Island!

The Ghost of the Burning Ship story, triggered a memory of when i was a small child of 6yrs old. My mother spotted the ship sailing and burning coming into the Georgetown harbour, in Prince Edward IslandShe called all us kids, 6 of us, to the window and we all watched it .As it burned , i could see the sails on fire and shadows of people jumping into the water. It burned right down to just fire on top of the water and then it disappeared. I had no idea it was seen off pictou island and murray river until now. The year i seen it , was 1965. Odd that no one else in my area documented it.
Very well done. I believe there is a kernel of truth in these old tales. Sad that our contemporary folk discount them. By doing so many sometimes imply that our ancestors were liars .
