      No this bucket had been in that spot for a week. The bees were orientated to that spot. All foragers moved right into the deep hive body.

    I love the bucket, and you show that it works! Saw another beekeeper prep the empty frame with rubber bands thus: On one flat side two bands corner to corner to create a support bed for you to lay the comb on; then other bands stretched around top and bottom as you did but pushed to both sides to be able to slide them around comb you are emplacing. Seemed smart.

      @@OkAdventure994 brother my traps are showing very promising signs already!! The bees are scouting each trap consistently and have been showing up every day a little more at a time. I have noticed some dead bees in the traps, so I’m thinking they’re leaving guards overnight🤷🏻‍♂️. I think I had the traps out MAYBE 3 days and scouts were showing up already. Waxing the interior is key, and the bucket being waterproof, and the bees being able to defend the trap are going to be big factors in the bees staying in the trap. Just my opinion👍🏻

    What do you do if you catch the swarm .5 - 2 miles from where you want to final hive to be?

    • @OkAdventure994
      @OkAdventure994  3 роки тому +4

      Good question. I would put them in the spot where you would want them to be and release them. You will lose some bees that may go back to where the swarm was caught.
      You could also leave them in the hive trapped inside for a few days. But I wouldn’t do that unless they have sugar water, pollen patty and some water in the hive with them.

    • @irishcoffee6894
      @irishcoffee6894 3 роки тому +4

      If you have the swarm caught within 5 miles radius you can put them in the hive you want them to.
      But....
      Place a bushy branch in front of the hive entrance.
      They need to re-oriëntate themselves then even more.
      Off course you will loose some bees but because of the distraction you will have 90% of the bees staying in the hive
