I thought he made it quite clear, Uzbekistan is one of the few friendly nation with Russia, an important ally and their gateway to the South. Uzbekistan situation and its future is also Russia future. With the EU, US and to a certain extend China hostile attitude towards them, Russia have to find new area to spread its influence and protect its endangered national interest. The perfect future would be Russian troops on the ground with US Airforce support clear out terrorist while the Russian picking out leaders and the American the economists but alas...

The part that you said perfect future is quite disturbing, Usa bombing and Russian army on ground on foreign lands are the definition of hell. The perfect future would be none of the above.

One thing to note here. The Soviets tried really hard to make the borders in Central Asia as precise as possible. The policy was called "razmezhevaniye". There were no precise borders or identities at that time. They surveyed the territory, codified the languages, gave them an alphabet, established the boundaries between the Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, Turkmen, Uzbeks and the Tajiks. Before the USSR was created those peoples thought of themselves as mostly just Muslim, there was no concept of ethnic identity or nationality, so even though there are some irregularities in the way the borders were drawn they are still very precise, much more than European colonial borders that's for sure.

It was never thought or expected that they'd become their own countries. They were all created as part of the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union was split into a multitude of regions with varying degrees of authonomy. The Russian Federation itself contained and still contains a multitude of selfgoverned republics. The idea that the Soviets did it as a great conspiracy to inhibit their ability to rebel is not based on any evidence.
And it forgets the fact that most rebellions do not stick to administrative borders.

The title should be "Russia and Uzbekistan v.s. The Future."

Yea, but it also focused a lot on the former SSRs, so it should've been "The Former Soviet Union vs. The Future"

This is the very first video from brain4breakfast that I saw. I saw it in my freshman year of high school. I’m in college now. That was four years ago. And now he’s gone. This is the video that not only got me interested in Polandball, but geopolitics I’m general. RIP buddy. You will be dearly missed.
