Her comments on Jack Dromey and recognising Harriet's loss were kind, warm and thoughtful, which makes her stand out as unique amongst her fellow Tory MPs.
This lady rightly deserves the title of being an MP of the House of Commons (no matter of which party) for this statement, alone. It will help to restore faith that there is some honesty in the H o C, and hopefully,---it might catch on !
By keeping her mouth shut. Now he's gone, I hope more of these mythical Tories start to come out of the woodwork. Still not going to save them in the next G.E though.
She's one of the very few Tory MPs from the 2019 intake to be a known member of the One-Nation Caucus or the liberal wing of the Tory Party (think the likes of Sir John Major, Michael Heseltine, Ken Clarke, Nicholas Soames, Dominic Grieves, Rory Stewart, Justine Greening and Amber Rudd to name a few). She and likes of the Rees-Mogg, Patel and the other Tories names in the report are on opposite ideological ends of the Tory Party. I'm guessing she's more than comfortable supporting the committee because it would've been something her wing of the party would deem a no-brainer. You would never see this level of abuse and vitriol directed at a parliamentary committee under previous Conservative prime ministers.
How nice to know there ARE still people of integrity in the Conservative party. Heartwarming and honest. Absolute hero. This lady is a credit to thd House as a whole politics in general and the Conservative party. Its how politics used to be and still should be.

This woman lost her seat to the Lib Dems at the 2024 General Election. Which is a shame, as she showed there were a few decent Conservative MPs (Alex Chalk being another one). Sadly, theyre both gone and unlikely to be back.
What a brave woman standing up to defend her principals. It does give hope we have seen so much cartoony villains, the good ones shine out. And it does need reminding that she had not long lost her husband. It does seem a hellish toxic place but kindness can be found in the darkest places - all the more lovely because of it

I worked as a detective for many years . I investigated without favour or prejudice and impartiality. On a number of occasions it was expected that criminals and dubious solicitors representing them would make mischief and allege all manner of corruption and lack of integrity in an officers behaviour . To cast doubt on the investigator and investigation to avoid sanction . I don’t see anything different here . Rees Mogg, Dorris and all those other insidious people attacked the integrity of this committee with exactly the same intent as the criminals I dealt with . They are effectively no different . Skullduggery , dishonesty and Machiavellian methods are the nature of Johnson’s followers and the man himself . They should all be expelled from parliament and never hold public office ever again .

Woah. This was actually quite moving. I can’t believe that there’s actually someone with a modicum of integrity, morals and decorum in the Tory benches! Wonders’ll never cease!
Making such a speech full of integrity has probably ended a career in the Tory party. An enormous loss to parliament. Laura is a magnificent example of a good MP.
You may be correct, but given that the Tory party is in such utter and directionless disarray and that next Friday they may have less than 100 seats remaining, if this member retains hers she could well be front-and-centre as one of the faces of the ‘new, improved and principled’ party. God knows they’re going to need as many like her as they can get.
"Truth will out" W. Shakespeare, may it always do so and thank God it got rid of you know who... In the long run, Truth is always Beautiful in the end and thank you for that beautiful expression of it Laura - perhaps this is why Boreus Johnson is always pictured running - running away from the Truth. Out of compassion for him, i hope his friends... of various shapes and sizes and countries will be able to gather enough money to be able to buy him a one way ticket to Loss Vegas - sufficient to enable him to buy a two up two down town house somewhere in the anonymous suburbs to enable him to contemplate what went wrong and from where he will be able to distribute food parcels for the equally down and outs who life has yet hit harder than him.
This is an important reminder - there are good, fair and honourable people on both sides of the House. Why they don’t rise to the top is something we (and the parties) should think hard about.
- Consistently voted against laws to promote equality and human rights - Voted against a lower voting age - Consistently voted against fixed periods between parliamentary elections - Voted against a more proportional system for electing MPs - Consistently voted for a stricter asylum system - Almost always voted for stronger enforcement of immigration rules - Consistently voted for restricting the scope of legal aid - Generally voted against measures to prevent climate change - Consistently voted against a right to remain for EU nationals already in living in the UK - Consistently voted against measures to reduce tax avoidance - Consistently voted for more restrictive regulation of trade union activity - Consistently voted against higher taxes on banks - Voted for increasing the rate of VAT - Consistently voted against raising the threshold at which people start to pay income tax
@@Ribeanie I don’t disagree with the point you’re making here, but voting against many of these would have got her in trouble with the whips or even thrown out of the party. Mogg, Fabricant, Dorries, and the rest of them, should all be investigated and, if found culpable (which nobody can deny that they are), they should be banned from public office for life, ridiculed, and have any honours, pensions, etc. irrevocably removed and denied.
taken 13 years for one of them to admit to a pack of lies told from the torys ,
Decent and honest speech, a rare find nowadays.
What a decent person Laura Ferris is. If all MP's had her honesty, this country would be a much better place.
One of the most outstanding speeches I have heard in parliament. Forceful due to the logic with which it is developed.
Excellent speech. Good reminder that not all Tories are evil and of those that are not evil, some even have a backbone. Not my MP (Greg Clarke) who makes a worm's spine look rigid. (I thanked him for opposing the s**t in rivers bill on its first reading but he abstained when it actually passed, the coward).
You are lucky - my MP is Fabricant.
RESPECT to a Woman who has integrity
I was really impressed by her words it makes me feel there is still hope for democracy in this country with more sensible politicians like this
Yes, my thoughts exactly
Wow, a Tory with a spine! 👏🏻 the best speech I have listened from a Tory in ages! Well done madame!
Outstanding speech! A true honourable genuine politician.
Amazing. Laura Farris shows that some politicians are decent human beings.
So you thought all politicians are dodgy. Speaking of decent human being our British PM now is the most decent human being too who believes in honesty too.
aftewr 15 years of supporting her failed criminal party ok baaaaah baaaahh your self over beachy head
and win your self a darwin award.
@@zenouxbeautynow THAT is funny 😂
OMG is it possible that there is actually an honourable person in the Conservative party? Great speech by this lady!
Stone me...I wish we had her for an MP instead of that Brendan Clarke who was one of the seven.
Are you soliciting for recreationals or requiting a biblical punishment?
She has got long blonde hair and is quite young!
This must be a first. A decent Conservative member of Parliament!
Another one is Tobias Ellwood . I think Tobias has reached the point where he will say what he thinks and to hell with the views of some of his party colleagues .
@@scooby1992Tobias is a dreadful pro war NeoCon. All in on the 9 year long complex Ukraine war. Which the NeoCons started with a coup against the then ELECTED government of Ukraine. 14,000 dead BEFORE the invasion.
I'll quietly add Caroline Noakes. I heard her on the News Agents the other week...and she came across as a thoughtful and caring person. She also despises Johnson...which is always going to be a good thing!
How anyone can defend that report is utterly bewildering. A pathetic document that is not worth the paper it is written on. I wanted to see a document that showed the truth not a document based on hearsay or what one person is thinking that another person is thinking. Using statements like the person must have known and basing a finalisation of report on that is amateurish, unprofessional and laughable.
I wanted a document derived from initial reports gained from un biased independent genuine people not people who had sold out to the people putting forward the complaint and that gained monetarily not only for themselves but also for members of their family from their actions, ie Sue Grey
I wanted to a report that was clearly open and transparent not one that used anonymous accounts from people who were not cross examined.
I wanted a report put together by people who had not carried out the similar offences to the person being investigated.
I wanted a report who's head of investigation had not openly stated their decision of guilt before the hearing and report were finalised.
If you support this report it is clear you have never been involved in professional investigation processes.
@@icarus877 I wanted a Prime Minister that wasn't a liar and a knob head to boot. Can't have everything though.
Wow! I'm definitely not a Tory fan, but in 2023 I never thought I'd see a Tory member show humility and integrity 👏
How did she slip through the Tory net, and not become a liar and miscreant ? Lovely words from a lovely lady👋👍
Listening to her speech on this matter makes me feel more inclined to listen to what she has to say on other matters in the future because I now know that she does indeed have some integrity and honour herself.
How did she survive Johnson's purge of honest Tories?
She's only in since 2019
She voted for his 'oven ready' deal I imagine
By keeping her mouth shut. Now he's gone, I hope more of these mythical Tories start to come out of the woodwork. Still not going to save them in the next G.E though.
She came after that. Her predecessor Richard Benyon fell foul of the great purge and she replaced him at the next election.
She's in the wrong party.
Intelligent, measured, compassionate, principled. More of this, please, in all areas of both public and private life.
Totally agree. I was pleasantly shocked. For more politicians like her 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
We desperately need more MPs like this in the UK.
We have many already. Just not in the Tory party
How nice to know there ARE still people of integrity in the Conservative party. Heartwarming and honest. Absolute hero. This lady is a credit to thd House as a whole politics in general and the Conservative party. Its how politics used to be and still should be.
What an outstanding lady to find it in her heart to just say what she knows is right 👏🏾👏🏾
As a Labour Party member for many, many years I must say what a most honorable lady with great integrity and refreshing honesty from a member of the Tory government
This woman lost her seat to the Lib Dems at the 2024 General Election.
Which is a shame, as she showed there were a few decent Conservative MPs (Alex Chalk being another one). Sadly, theyre both gone and unlikely to be back.
Great comment by the Lady M P
A tory with compassion, she'll get sacked soon.
It is really encouraging to see that there are some in the commons who have integrity. What a pity there are not more like this lady.
Good for you Madam, it is wonderful to see someone on the Tory bench speak the truth.
We can disagree and we can do it with honour and integrity.
Wonderful speech ,take a bow.......
In perfect terms she told some members of her own party what c***s they were in this
What a brave woman standing up to defend her principals. It does give hope we have seen so much cartoony villains, the good ones shine out. And it does need reminding that she had not long lost her husband. It does seem a hellish toxic place but kindness can be found in the darkest places - all the more lovely because of it
Superbly crafted and articulate speech. Full of integrity and compassion. It needed to be said. Well done !
FUCK ME, HONESTY???!!! Fair play Laura although congratulating someone for being honest speaks volumes in itself...
Watch your comment language here. You don't swear here,
@@zenouxbeauty I do, when appropriate.
@@zenouxbeautywell you can. If you are alright wing hate monger UA-cam doesn't have so problem. Call the hate out get banned
Spot on, THAT is what politics is really about. Great speech
Well said 👏
One to show to the people that say all politicians are corrupt and sleazy.
I never thought I'd see the day a Tory acts with integrity.
Although it should be a standard expectation from an MP, i can't help but priase her anyway because of how contemptuous and corrupt her party on the whole has acted recently
I hope Dorries and co are thoroughly ashamed of themselves
If you hadn't told me, there's no way I would have guessed she was a tory MP. If only they were all like her.
Why a person with a huge moral compass doesn't cross the floor is beyond me.
Shes too good to be a Tory.
Christ, I am crying myself. For what the Johnson cult has done to the mother of Parliaments.
Well said, Thank you. A beacon of light in what has seemed at times like perpetual darkness
Wow, what a powerful speech.
If anyone is looking for a reason to vote, enter politics, take an interest, just watch, listen and be in awe of this MP.
More women in Parliament, I'd say. In the footsteps of the great Shirley Williams MP
Crikey! It’s a shame there weren’t more bums on seats to hear that wonderful address, expertly spoken. Look out Sunak.
I have never voted tory in my life (over 40 years of voting) and doubt if I ever will, however it doesn't stop me from from admiring the morals, integrity and honesty of individual tories I think the M.P. for Newbury Is the pinnacle of what I admire in any M.P. OR MINISTER ,she deserves to be admired and applauded by all decent people. I would trust her in any circumstance even though we disagree ideologically I really admire her integrity and bravery.
A young woman who had the integrity of old school political MPs . I hope that she goes far ,but I doubt she'll be accepted into the fold .👏
Well said. I agree with this statement.
Unfortunately there is an element in Westminster that thinks they can get away with making derogatory comments. Ultimately that’s bullying and harassment and should not be tolerated.
I’m personally disgusted by MP’s that behave inappropriately and unprofessionally.
My faith is being restored with honourable politicians like this.
It’s certainly a good start.
Fantastic speech and the first time I have heard honest, unbiased words from the house. Bravo. I would have more faith in the political system if more politicians on both sides were like this.
Time for the inquiry about who had their fingers in the PIE.
Woah. This was actually quite moving. I can’t believe that there’s actually someone with a modicum of integrity, morals and decorum in the Tory benches! Wonders’ll never cease!
Aside of politics this seems to be a true true honest person
Making such a speech full of integrity has probably ended a career in the Tory party.
An enormous loss to parliament.
Laura is a magnificent example of a good MP.
You may be correct, but given that the Tory party is in such utter and directionless disarray and that next Friday they may have less than 100 seats remaining, if this member retains hers she could well be front-and-centre as one of the faces of the ‘new, improved and principled’ party. God knows they’re going to need as many like her as they can get.
Never thought i'd live to see the day. A Tory MP showing compassion towards a member opposite.
Respect, we need more politicians like Laura Farris.
Powerful, and well said.
Too good to be a tory
This is an important reminder - there are good, fair and honourable people on both sides of the House.
Why they don’t rise to the top is something we (and the parties) should think hard about.
- Consistently voted against laws to promote equality and human rights
- Voted against a lower voting age
- Consistently voted against fixed periods between parliamentary elections
- Voted against a more proportional system for electing MPs
- Consistently voted for a stricter asylum system
- Almost always voted for stronger enforcement of immigration rules
- Consistently voted for restricting the scope of legal aid
- Generally voted against measures to prevent climate change
- Consistently voted against a right to remain for EU nationals already in living in the UK
- Consistently voted against measures to reduce tax avoidance
- Consistently voted for more restrictive regulation of trade union activity
- Consistently voted against higher taxes on banks
- Voted for increasing the rate of VAT
- Consistently voted against raising the threshold at which people start to pay income tax
@@Ribeanie I don’t disagree with the point you’re making here, but voting against many of these would have got her in trouble with the whips or even thrown out of the party.
I obviously question her judgment for joining the Conservative Party in the first place and defending the things that they stand for, but this one speech showed her in a very good light, and I think that should be recognised and encouraged.
Wow, great speech, at least one Tory who has some honour.
great clip - when so much of traditional media and by extension, mainstream politics, is fuelled by division and a narrative of difference, it is great to see a Tory MP supporting Parliament and also displaying humanity and solidarity... but most of all, plain common sense and a respect for truth.
