I'm glad you enjoyed your time at Muisbosskerm; it truly is a unique experience with its stunning ocean views and delicious seafood offerings. The combination of fresh, smoked, and grilled fish right on the beach makes it a standout destination for seafood lovers.
However, it's disheartening to hear about the unfortunate incident of the place being burnt down. It's always a great loss when such a beloved spot is damaged, especially due to such senseless actions. The charm and atmosphere of Muisbosskerm, along with its culinary delights, have undoubtedly left a lasting impression on many visitors.
Despite this setback, I remain hopeful that Muisbosskerm will rebuild and continue to provide the same wonderful experiences in the future. The spirit of the place, its beautiful location, and the passion for great seafood can't be easily extinguished. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and let's hope for a swift and successful recovery for this cherished restaurant.
      Cheers, Domenico and Giulia

The best thing that couldve happened. Maybe now they can regroup and get down to the basic honest unique SA dishes again that made them special in the first place and not (watered down SPANISH imitation Paella) and the tasteless commercial crap they try to sell us the past 5 jrs. Probably the eatery that went down in quality and uniqueness the most in the past 5yrs. We all going to the S place in Yzerfontein to experience the true taste of the unique West Coast nowadays

      Never knew that.
Only went once in 2011, it was a fantastic rustic south african experience..

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It’s clear that you have a deep connection to the authentic South African dishes that originally made Muisbosskerm special. Your disappointment with the direction the restaurant has taken in recent years is understandable, especially if the focus has shifted from its unique local offerings to more commercialized or international dishes that don't resonate with what you’ve come to expect.
The unfortunate event of the fire could indeed be an opportunity for the restaurant to regroup and return to its roots. There’s a lot to be said for sticking to what makes a place truly unique, especially when it comes to showcasing the rich culinary heritage of the West Coast. The beauty of Muisbosskerm has always been in its ability to offer something genuinely South African, and it sounds like that’s something that needs to be recaptured.
Your point about the decline in quality and uniqueness over the past five years is particularly poignant. It's a reminder of how important it is for any establishment to stay true to its origins, especially when those origins are what drew people in to begin with. A return to the basics, focusing on honest, traditional dishes, could be exactly what Muisbosskerm needs to regain its reputation.
It’s also telling that you and others are now choosing to visit alternative places like the spot in Yzerfontein for an authentic West Coast experience. This shift highlights the demand for genuine, high-quality local cuisine and serves as a strong message to Muisbosskerm about what customers are truly seeking.
Hopefully, this moment will serve as a turning point, allowing Muisbosskerm to rebuild not just physically, but also in terms of its culinary identity, bringing back the authentic flavors and experiences that made it a beloved destination in the first place. Thank you for your honest feedback-it’s voices like yours that can help guide a return to what made the place special.
      Cheers, Domenico and Giulia
