Olympic champions Keegan Palmer and Yosozumi Sakura front the park skaters heading to the Aljada skate park in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, to compete for world titles and Paris 2024 qualification ranking points.
The road to Paris 2024 will begin for park skateboarders at the 2022 World Park Skateboarding Championships in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, from 5-12 February.
The week-long contest to determine two new world champions will also double-up as an Olympic qualification event with ranking points handed out to skaters based on their results.
The competition will start with a men and women's open qualifier where those that finish in the top 32 will advance to the quarterfinals. There, the skaters that are pre-seeded based on their Olympic World Skate Ranking (OWSR), will join the competition phase.
A quarterfinal and semi-final will then cut down the field until just eight remain for the final which will be streamed live on Olympics.com on Sunday 12 February.
From Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medallist Keegan Palmer to Great Britain's Sky Brown, in attendance at the Aljada skate park there will be no shortage of star power coming in Sharjah.

Akio was definitely the winner in my book, but to be fair neither creativity nor originality is a criteria for this contest, so I understand why they decided to score Jagger higher. I see lots of people putting the brazillians first: yes, their runs looked more aggressive, but jaggers run was very classy and tight. could have been other way around, but saying it is clear is just unawareness of personal bias. It was close and very different at these same time, as is reflected in the scores.

Rune Glifberg apparently doesn’t skate…this is news to me. The other guy is a bit annoying but he didn’t get any tricks wrong. I wish they spoke more on the judging because Jagger’s first run was more difficult and smoother than any other run and was underscored. Thankfully he stepped up and rightfully won in the end. Idk why everyone is saying Akio should have won. His run was sketchy and nowhere near as technical as Jagger’s (and Jagger had a gnarly 540 and heelflip Indy back to back). Dude literally hopped off his board and did a caveman in the middle of his run lol. But I’m sure the commentary can’t say much on the judging just to make the whole event seem more legitimate.
