do you think the Obei Hurricane rod is a good travel rod? Also for ex, if I get the 7-35g model do you reckon the 15-20g jigs will work well with it (action wise)? Also how did you find the casting distance?
it is good for the price definitely, it can throw 60gr jigs easily and i think it is capable of throwing 80 gr jigs as well. However the rod is a bit stiff for my liking. The best jig weight i found out was around 40 gr.anything above that doesnt really add to the distance unless you apply some force or use momentum like turning the lure around your head and throw it ( half pendulum ) i haven't tried the 7-35 gr version but yes it will be efficient to throw 15-20gr jigs. distance wise from rocky shore 3m lenght didnt make much difference for me compared to 258cm rods i normally use.Because you can't build up much momentum with a long rod if you're just standing there on rocks.if you dont plan to use anything above 40 gr then 3m version is overkill.
Reel is great I’d say it shines most between 15-30 gr lures.the braid is very important with this reel I use varivas high power 4x 1.5pe ..any smooth 8x thinnner profile braid digs in and cause backlash quite badly because the spool is too narrow. I think the spool ball bearings get corrosion quite easily in saltwater and cause friction it is not as smooth as a brand new reel.I will change with hedgehog bearings in the future. The exciting drag sound is great.I will equip this reel with a 5-40 gr Daiwa rod , couldn’t bring my exsence infinity rod with me to dubai.
@@InfinityFishing ahh.. I’ve put 4 strand powerpro on mine and it works great. I know what you mean with the saltwater.. definitely ain’t healthy for the reel!
