Due to the popularity of "Smokey And The Bandit", in the late 70's - early 80's, Trans-Am's were already in high demand, thus, not readily available, for the production team, so, Universal Studios only had 4 vehicles to begin with, which were significantly modified in the front, and shortened to resemble a "Knight's Helmet", however, a train carrying tonnes of brand new Trans Ams, was derailed, en-route to dealers in California, and, couldn't be sold to the public, due to legal issues, so Universal bought them all, (between ~12-14), vowing to destroy them, after production ceased. They purchased 6 more cars, during production, having ~22-24 working models, in the end, but, true to form, they destroyed the damaged vehicles, along with several other factory bought models, (that were too far gone, to be repaired properly), and, the rest were utilized as promotional vehicles, at various charity events, car shows, world fairs, and, Universal Studios, from the 1980's - 1990's. There are only 5 genuine K.I.T.T cars remaining today, (several of which had to be heavily restored), and are mostly held in private collections, so, there are tonnes of replicas getting around, and, an abundance of unscrupulous rip-off artists, passing them off, as genuine original models, but, they lack several important studio markings
I always loved that KITT was computerised with a synthesised voice - that subsequently draws breath between sentences - always made me laugh - great show tho.

Kitt was awesome
KITT's voice is really better than alexa
@@351ClevelandV8_PanteraGTS It's one of the reasons why I became a fan of Boy Meets World (Mr Feeney is KITT's voice actor)
*The dude discovers the most advanced A.I. ever built*
"Shut up, I wanna listen to good music !"
2:53 - 3:03: My dad when he first heard Google Home
The long distance driving scenes were some of my favorite part of this show
"Your door is a jar"
"Uhm looks like a door to me"
Why would anyone put a jar on a car?
@@DaHitch the jar isn't on the car, the car IS the jar.
I love K.I.T.T., such an awesome heroic car.
A-Team, Airwolf, Knight Rider, MacGyver, good times.
Don't forget Fall Guy, hardcastle & McCormick, Street hawk, Hunter, Simon & Simon etc
MIAMI VICE
LA LAW !
ST TNG
This just gave me the feels and flashbacks!
I always loved that KITT was computerised with a synthesised voice - that subsequently draws breath between sentences - always made me laugh - great show tho.
"... and don't offer any suggestions, i'm gonna choose my own". Buddy, you gonna hate youtube.
Knight Rider and the Six Million Dollar Man were 2 of my most favorite shows growing up.
Now that would have been an interesting cross-over movie event.
@@jimjohnston5719 You know another great crossover would be Transformers from the movies meet the Power Rangers from lhe 90s!
Who doesn't want to own a 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.
I preferred my 1979 Trans Am. Same body as in Smokey and the Bandit
Is a awesome car, you don't need know the show to like it.
I grew up in the 80s wanting one of these, and it ended up being my first car.
1980 for me...one of the best looking cars ever.even today it looks current.
There was a British postal worker, Scott Bainbridge, who got an '87 model back in 2004, and then spent a decade (and 18,000 quid!) building a replica of KITT.
Yes, it does talk, and with the correct voice, too.
I still love the show after many years . Was twelve when this show came out absolutely loved it
I was 9 when this very pilot aired & 10 when the 1st season started that fall.
What kid didn't want a K.I.T.T, let alone an '82 Pontiac Trans Am?
40 years have gone by & we still don't have anything like KITT in real life 🤔🙄
It seems only a matter of time now.
@@bqmac43 We have Tesla, where it can sort of autodrive but you have to get your hands ready to control the steering wheel if you see any problems about to occur
🤣 😆 🙄 🤦♂
One of the best shows of all time. .!!! Seriously!
I was born in 2008 and yet this is still my childhood
80s, 90s, 2000s+ Nothing beats a classic! This series Star Wars, the A Team, Harry Potter. The list goes on! Right Rider would make a great movie series. Would be up there with Ghost Rider, the Avengers, and a Rebooted Batman Series.
I was born in 1987 but this series and it's theme music wow wow wow at tat time and till too. Hands up if any are there
jabez ephanatus, I was only 12 when the show came out. It never ceases to fascinate me.
you didn't like the reboot? *laughs*
This is like watching my dad get in my Prius
Pontiac firebird trans AM, my childhood favorite car!!;-)
1982: In the future, we will have cars with artificial intelligence.
2020: We have the Coronavirus.
🤣🤣🤣
One of the best theme tunes in TV history
If future autonomous cars are going to be like this, I AM ABSOLUTELY DOWN.
“Alright Devon I got places to go”
“What the hell does that mean?”
Best line.
After all these years, still waiting for this car to be in the market.
Really need more shows and movies like these nowadays.. where art inspires science!
Sadly cable, Disney + and streaming among other things, have ruined free tv.
The problem with watching these is that I’m always left wanting more. I want to know what happens after Michael disregards KITT. Now I have to go and bootleg the episode lol.
All the episodes are free on NBC streaming...including the dumb as F'ck Ford Mustang Knight Rider, that nobody who is a real fan, considers as Knightrider, even though they tried to pay David an arm and a leg, to lift this stupid show up...and I don't think you'll ever find Team Knight Rider!! LMAO ...they just don't get it.
They get down to work.
Mid seventies to mid eighties were great times for T.V. and movie cars.
Actors back then knew how to act
Yup, Starsky and Hutch, Miami Vice, Streets of San Francisco
@@charlesneely They also weren't political like the hacks we got now.
Don’t forget horror great Christine. Christine is a Plymouth Fury which attacks ANYONE who messes with her.
@@CowboysNo1Fan Don´t forgete the evil car from the movie The Car...
I always remember Kitt taking a breath before speaking just like in this sequence!
Dean from Supernatural would make a great Michael Knight
Or the Son of Michael Knight... Would be awesome!
I was thinking he reminded me of him! Lol
You just have to remember the season 5 Supernatural episode Changing Channels segment when Dean's driving the Impala and Sam is K.I.T.T. for that then.
@Nature Restored LIVE Same like me i grow too with knight rider... That was the wonderful time really miss thos time..... We Was discussed with students in school.. 😅😂😂😂😂😂😂
@Nature Restored LIVE It may not be nostalgia, but this trend of the young-handsome-hero-with-a-cool-attitude-who-lives-unbelievable-adventures-and-meets-many-beautiful-women is probably something you couldn't relate to if you were born between 400,000 BC and 1800 AD.
Favorite show from the 80’s watched it every Friday ❤
One of the 10 Greatest TV Action Dramas of all time.
correction: one of the best TV shows of all time in general
As much as they butted heads they had a great relationship. Great chemistry between the actors. Something we don't see anymore.
A Cylon car. Do you notice the red thing moving back and forth on the front of the vehicle?
Cylon Centurion: "By your command Imperious Leader!"
Both Knight Rider and Battlestar Galactica were created by Glen A. Larson, so he included the red scanner in both shows. And, yes, Galactica came out first, so KITT is a copy of a Cylon (not the other way around).
@@WmTRiker I didn't know that but thank you for telling me.
@@IcyTorment Cool.
There's a bit of fan lore explaining the similarity. A Cylon Raider crashed on Earth sometime during the events of Galactica 1980, which Wilton Knight found and used as the basis for the AI in his cars.
@@seanmcgroty2248 Karr was the first attempt, but failed too Cylon. Kitt was an improvement be cause of his humanity programing. Learned a lot working with Michael and the crew. In 1993 they grew a Cylon Skin job body for him. He became a great teacher. In 2000 his karma returned to work with Michael again for a short time.
First time I've seen this particular part of Knight Rider! I loved it!!!! Actually, it made my decision to get all of the seasons on blu-ray just as soon as I can afford it!!!!
For those slightly older folks like myself, ours was a fantastic childhood in the 80's.
I remembered this as if it was yesterday! Thanks for the video!
"Just play some music and dont talk to me, or I shut you off!"
"I believe you do not want to do that, Dave."

"Michael, of course..."
"Don't worry. We completely reprogrammed him. ... It."

"We found all the bugs and fixed them."
