Basic information so you don't get too lost until you see the guide 🤗
Seventeen is divided into three units and generally on the albums, in addition to the OT13 songs there is a song from each unit. And each unit has a leader.
Hip Hop Unit: S.Coups (unit leader and leader of Seventeen overall), Wonwoo, Mingyu and Vernon.
Performance Unit: Hoshi (unit leader), Jun, The8 and Dino.
Vocal Unit: Woozi (unit leader), Jeonghan, Joshua, DK and Seungkwan.
In addition to these three units, there are also subgroups.
BSS or BooSeokSoon has been like the fun trio since pre-debut. It consists of BOO Seungkwan, Lee SEOKmin (DK) and Kwon SOONyoung (Hoshi). So, two members from the vocal unit and one from the performance.
There are also SVT Leaders. As each unit has its leader, they also form a subgroup with S.Coups from hiphop, Hoshi from performance and Woozi from vocal.
Now we also have Jeonghan and Wonwoo as a duo.
Vernon's father is korean and his mother is north american, but despite being born in NY, he moved to Korea at a young age so he feels more korean. But he is also fluent in english. On another hand, Joshua grew up in LA. Also, Jun and The8 are both chinese.

if you like the lalali song, I recommend to listen the "Monster" song in the GOD album. That's song so very unique and the hiphop team so cool.

thank you for the reaction, i would highly recommend 1) Shadow 2) Don Quixote 3) SOS. These three don't really have Music Video but the song is so beautiful, you can watch performance video or lyrics video.

yes Vernon is a korean native, he was born in New York but he moved to Korea at 3/5 y/o. He speaks perfect korean but usually with english Joshua is the chosen one to speak since he has been longer in the USA than him.
Maybe who does have an accent are Minghao, or Jun.
yeah Minghao has a very strong accent, Jun has just a lil bit of accent, not too noticeable.
For Seventeen English interviews both Vernon and Joshua are speakers. Vernon's.always been in the "English speaking line" since pre-debut. And since there's so many members- its useful that there's two members fluent in English.
버논 한국어는 완벽해요! 한국인 혼혈이고 어렸을때부터 한국에서 자랐기때문에 누가들어도 완벽하게 평범한 한국인 발음이예요. 그외 조슈아의 경우는 미국에서 자랐지만 (부모님 모두 한국인) 한국에서 미성년자때부터 연습생 생활을 해서 그런지 조슈아도 그냥 완벽한 한국인 발음입니다! 중국인 멤버들의 경우는 달라요. 외국인이 하는 한국어 발음이예요. 한국인이 듣기엔 특히 그 중국인들이 하는 한국발음이라 말안해도 누가들어도 외국인티가 나요.

Which did I prefer? Oh, I’m a Hip Hop Unit girlie. So definitely LALALI. I think I actually like it over Maestro 🫣 That being said, my preference for hip-hop unit isn’t always the case. Because on FML album, I like IDUBILU more than Fire, but it’s very close.
The different vibe that the units bring with their group songs is very interesting. On this album, we have LALALI (Hip Hop Unit), Spell (Performance Unit), and Cheers to Youth (Vocal Unit). On the last album we had Monster (Hip Hop), Back 2 Back (Performance), and Yawn (Vocal). LALALI and Monster have similar vibes. But Spell and Back 2 Back couldn’t be more different. Same with Cheers to Youth and Yawn. But if you go back to Attacca album, Hip Hop Unit is doing straight vocals on the ballad I Can’t Run Away. This group is always mixing things up.
On that note, another recommendation would be Rolling Stone In My Room. Each unit performs a song on that, so you get another taste of what each unit can do.

2:48 Vernon doesn't have an accent in English or Korean. Probably because although he was.born in New York, he moved to Korea at age 5. He's also said that culturally he feels more Korean. But is English is fluent and he and Joshua (Korean-American, born and raised in L.A):usually act as translators during English interviews. They've actually said that they would've "forgotten English" if they didn't have each other lol. They also have a little Unit song together called "Rocket"

the thing about lalali is that the video totaly matches the name couse a 날라리 (nalali) was a pretty often used term for like a "Gangster " back in the 80/90
For context, lalali sounds similar to “nalali” which means delinquents in Korean.

SEVENTEEN's 'LALALI' MV looks phenomenal.
Seventeen usually always tries to do some kind of unit songs on their albums, usually by unit(hip hop, vocal, and performance) but they have done leader songs before(scoups, Hoshi, woozi) and songs based on age groups since they have a few from each age group(95s,96s, 97s, and the youngest 3 two 98s and a 99).
It would be cool if you did a guide. You don’t have to but there’s a really long one made in 2023 that is really informative. And carats will watch people watch it over and over so no worries about there not being interest. lol
You need to check vocal unit song also called "CHEERS TO YOUTH"
Vernon is Korean-American (full name: Hansol Vernon Chwe / Chwe Hansol) and he's a native speaker of the Korean language since his family moved to Korea when he was just 5 years old. He speaks a lot of English at home tho as his mom can't speak Korean. But according to him, his Korean is better overall than his English and he's more comfortable speaking in Korean than in English. As someone who's been consuming lots of Korean media for years now, I can say that Vernon barely has any (foreign) accent if he even has any at all. Among Seventeen members, the one I can tell who clearly has a foreign accent is The8/Minghao, one of their 2 Chinese members from the performance unit.
There are 5 subunits in Seventeen: Vocal unit, Hiphop unit, Performance unit, Leaders unit and BooSeokSoon unit (BSS).
