That was a giant factor of me absolutely hating her alicorn transformation back in the day! (I was part of the group that believed Twilight was intended to or at least should've became Celestia's successor - her becoming an alicorn was obviously a perfect opportunity for marketing.) They completely lost me the moment they burned down her treehouse and gave her that ugly thing. Dreams shattered. Never forgave them afterwards lol

Lol. When the transformation came in I liked how Twilight looked (even it it was sudden and a bit out of blue) but as the show made the castle appear I was like „It could fit somewhere in Cadence’s kingdoom/area but in Ponyvill looks out of place.
I don’t know where did THEY get the idea of pointy-crystal-pseudo-tree castle, being integral part of Simple Village that neighbours with literal ancient forest! If Twilight realy had to have castle then there was already georgeus but rundown (or was it reconstructed already? I don’t remember 😅) empty castle that used to belong to Celestia and Luna.
Like…Just make the sisters gave free reign over the place to Twilight and make the trasnformation turn beloved little tree-library to be grand enchanted one or something… The idea of tree-castle would mend so much better with everything around!
When I first saw Twilight's final form I didn't hate it completely but I thought it would look more harmonious if she was smaller, like how Cadence and Luna were smaller than Celestia even though they were both alicorns too, and Luna seems to have been born an alicorn and was still smaller than Celestia, so if you want to take into account the fact that Twilight wasn't an alicorn by birth, she wouldn't be bigger than Luna, and Cadence may be naturally slender like other ponies in the series.
Flurry Heart was the only one to be born a full alicorn, but I get why you might say that! I think they just have smaller body types due to being younger overall.

Oh man I remember the drama in the fandom when Twilight got her wings. The toys were released before the episode came out and people were NOT happy and kept wondering if she was now inmortal and would outlive her friends.
I wish the wing part happened during the season 4 finale
the thing about twilight now probably being immortal and outliving her friends is that when all of her friends eventually pass away, she will have to learn that friendship lasts forever as she is the princess of friendship. even when they are long gone they will still be there in spirit

Dude, I'm still crying at the sight of the last episode of season 9 and I can't accept that Twilight really outlived her friends.
When they were young, it was much easier to accept, but now I just try to pretend that the last episode doesn't exist.
The redesign of the castle looks much more lush, lively and welcoming And Twilight's ultimate redesign is a huge improvement from what the team chose! She looked like a purple Celestia, but your version is a lot more ethereal gorgeous and more Twi-like! Hasbro should hire you already!
At first I didn't care about Twilight being an Alicorn I was more upset about the castle I hated it I miss the Library so much
Yeah, I thought at the time "Wait a minute, is that Ponyville's only library, and if so, isn't it a bit mean to go blowing it up?" Especially as it would have had some historical value in-universe, being where Twilight's alicorn transformation was triggered.

If there's something I see the entire fandom agree on, it's the fact the rainbow power up form from the S4 Finale had amazing colours in the mane! (reffering to the yellow in Twis hair)
i love how in her final form the streaks you gave her kinda look like an aurua borealis. i like how she continues to get more starry sky on her the further she goes in her transformations.
Sooo cute! I remember when Twilight was turned into an alicorn when I was actively watching the show, I also just loved the self indulgent fantasy of it. MCs who are deserving of being royalty getting a royal title? Little me loved it sooo much! But that's probably cuz I always love princess stuff😅

If I remember correctly, it wasn’t 4chan who called the show “the end of artistic shows”. It was some guy writing an article who said that, singlehanded igniting the Brony fandom which STARTED forming on 4chan because they were so insulted by his words.

I’d love to see a Luna redesign! Especially a Nightmare Moon one, as I think they could have used her better ! She has always been my favorite perhaps due to “Lullaby for a princess”. Also they did her so dirty in Equestria Girls!
When she first became an alicorn at the end of the season, I was not sure how I was going to feel about such a large change to the show's dynamic. But, much to my relief, when the next season came out, the change did not really change Twilight herself all that much outside of giving her a new form and new responsibilities. Even without the form change, if Twilight's responsibilities had had an upswing in what she was expected to do, she would have been stressed out and anxious regardless, that's just kind of how she's always been. Becoming an alicorn was just more of a clear visual reminder that she was now tasked with greater things, like an apprentice wizard moving to journeyman and getting their robes and a more powerful wand.
I was also happy to see that they actually went with 'she has to learn to fly' rather than having just given it to her. I think the transformation was actually handled very well, and it was refreshing to see them not just be like 'bam! New powers!' but actually have the character herself experience a bit of dissonance with the change and have to grow into it.
No judgement. But I think the redesign of her castle is the best. I really liked the og because it was more her colors and crystally. But the addition of leaves really sold me that the castle could've looked more alive

twilight never asked to be a princess. She never really seemed to want to do most of the stuff Celestia had her do. She was mostly stressed. She was straight up groomed to be a princess by a princess who just wanted to retire
twilight grew into the celestia form that quickly because in her ascension to the throne of equestria she would have had to gain MORE magic, the same magic that makes celestia and lina’s hair float like it does and give her the ability to raise the sun and moon
I never liked the Alicorn design simply because I felt like it made her original talent, no longer special. The thing that was so special about twilight was that despite just being a unicorn she is insanely powerful. Heck starlight was just as powerful as alicorn twilight which I felt made twilight just another magic user

Starlight was way overpowered. Of course, worthiness to be an alicorn isn't about who's more powerful, but I think it's silly that a normal - if talented - unicorn could ever be as powerful as an alicorn. If that was the case, why not Alicorn Rarity? Or, come to think of it, why not Alicorn-all-of-the-Mane-Six?
@@cherryb893 Yeah sometimes I see people wanting Starlight to be an alicorn just because she's overpowered but that's not what being an alicorn/princess is about....there's more to it than that plus I prefer her as a unicorn anyway. Not every powerful unicorn needs to be turned into an alicorn. People say the same for Sunset but Sunset pretty much threw away her chance at going down that path and she's in the human world anyway so it just doesn't make sense for her either....I think it's better that we don't normalize turning people into alicorns...I like it being a somewhat rare occurence.
Which...I don''t like how Sunny in MLP5 became an alicorn...I honestly don't think she deserved it especially since that was the movie starting it all way too early for that in my honest opinion...though I would've rather her not even be an alicorn to begin with at all but that's just me.
Ive been rewatching MLP these past few months and honestly the timeline from student, to princess, to ruler makes so much sense and was handled very well. Though.. i hated Ruler Twilight's hair. Straight sideswept bangs did not belong.
I definitely think your design of Twilight's final form is much better than the show's. There's so many different elements like the freckles and the streaks and yet you made it all work together into one beautiful design without anything looking out of place
I love the redesigns! My one complaint has to be that, because you used the word "transformations" you were going to include Seapony Twilight or some other misc forms. Aw well, I really appreciate what we got still!
There is a missed opportunity for episodes by giving Twilight a castle so soon after the library was destroyed. It would have been funny to see Twilight and friends be awkward about having the new princess sleep over at different places.
Hearing the castle be called a dead tree inspired an idea of 'growing a castle' from a magical sapling that could be related to the Tree of Harmony. It would be a symbol of growth that everyone could contribute and relate to.
16:15 YES!! This is what I would have LOVED for the castle to look like! Just about what I was imagining all this time. Not only is it pretty, it's still marketable looking enough to be appealing for toy sales. Why didn't Hasbro just go more towards the treehouse castle theme?
I love the bit of yellow added. It gives more of an umpth and shows change better
at the end of the series, it really didnt make sense to me that twilight was essentially celestia sized by the end of it. with that amount of time, i more so expected maybe a cadence / luna body type? maybe its power related, as luna in the first episode is quite a bit smaller after being released from the grasp of nightmare moon, who was extremely tall, but also still not as big as she is in the rest of the series, and knowing celestia had to assume the duties of both raising the sun and moon, i guess that can explain her being much taller than luna, as luna never had to assume the duty of raising and setting the sun, but then the next problem is twilight fighting tirek after she had absorbed all of the alicorn magic? clearly his size was also determined by power.. i cant really figure out why she'd be celestia sized in the span of at most 30 years honestly 😭i just assume its power level connected
Although, I understand Twilight Sparkle becoming an alicorn, to be the next ruler of Equestria, in my heart, I also wanted the remaining "mane six" to be alicorns, too, ruling together with friendship and magic 💖 I would love to see the rest of the mane six as alicorns, too, because they should rule Equestria together.
I actually thought up something really cool for an alicorn version of Pinkie Pie: her mane and tail would be more poofy like a cloud, and bubbles would pop off of it and float away, especially when she was excited. Feel like that would really fit with Pinkie's silly party theme while also being magical :D
Yes. They basically all went through the same journey. Plus, Equestria could easily have been ruled by committee.
Her alicorn design is so cute!!! Actually obsessed with the yellow stripe. My only other comment on it is that i think the yellow stripe would look sleeker if it were much thinner than the other stripes.
i think there still is more to be said on people being upset about power dynamics changing and the like, because what people often forget is that... that's... normal? As people grow up, dynamics change, friendships shift, and things alter our perception of one another. This was a good way to show that (even if obviously far more drastic than most people experience)
Something to really keep in mind, too, is the age range of the show. If a 10-year-old was to pick up the show in 2010, when the show first aired, they would be 12-13 when Magical Mystery Cure came out. Becoming an alicorn, in a wild sort of way, could be seen as a metaphor for puberty and the changes that come with it, how people perceive you, how, in a way, you were growing up.
And yeah, the show did change in tone and themes as it went on, because its audience aged with it, so it had to.

The anatomy is a little bit off for the basic design, but overall absolute amazing designs! I love the coat patterns you used !
I think they all look great! Especially twilight princess/celestia body form. It really looks like she got a glow up. I think her mane being wavy and containing aurora veil aspect would look really cool on her too.
I loved watching mlp gen 4 growing up and I personally loved twilight becoming a princess :)

I love your redesign for Twi so much!!! I love how you had gone for that more Twilight look. I could understand why some didn't like alicorn or future Twi's design, but idk, they both grew on me. Especially now knowing more about animation and looking into some possible leaks. From what the heard, the team was on a bit of a tighter budget for the last episode, so they had to reuse models and parts of other character puppets for the timeskip designs, which is why Twilight (as well as Spike) have wonkier looking designs. Still, it's nice to hear you actually talking about a show you like for a video here. I do hope you make Mlp redesigns!!!

In my opinion your redesigns look more fitting than what MLP staff went with post season 3. Yours keep the sparkle of her design. Very much refreshing.
what i like about the designs is that theyre realistic to what hasbro could have done. a lot of redesigns i see, while beautiful, could never realistically be in the show because well.. they wouldn't sell toys. these are appealing, not overly complex and merchandisable. these are important qualities often forgotten by fan-artists (who dont have supervisors leaning over their shoulders assuring that their work will maximise profits 😅)
Your redesigns are gorgeous! Something about the original design feels like she's wearing shoes that are too big for her while with your design, everything feels like it was actually made for her.

The most interesting domino effect in my life is related to Mlp.
Once, shortly after the premiere of the film, I came back home and opened UA-cam, and in the recommended sections I saw a fragment of the film where Twilight and Pinki were having an argument. I decided to watch it and after that I got really into the series, and after a while my sister also joined the fandom.
And one day, she went to a Brony meet, where she met her current fiancé.
So yes, me watching MLP has caused my sister to get married soon.
I love that twilight became an alicorn. And I’m glad we got a long journey with her as one, learning to be one and learning the responsibilities with it. I like that the finale is that she becomes the new ruler of equestria. It makes sense since the only other princess that could have ruled rules over the crystal empire. I definitely agree that her form was really drastic haha I was expecting her to look like cadance or Luna. Lol
I love these redesigns! The last was my favorite, I definitely agree they did her dirty with those bangs! And that transformation in such a short span of time didn’t make ANY sense.😭
17:43 Celestia and Luna passed and transferred many power to Princess Twilight Sparkle, as seen in Season 9. Her form would obviously grow much faster than Princess Cadence's due to the fact Princess Twilight Sparkle was much more powerful, even before becoming an Alicorn. May you give any tips and tutorials for how you draw so perfectly, as well?
For twilight I think a snowflake appaloosa would suit, you could work the cutie mark in by matching the white snowflake spots over the rest of the body

My only issue with Twilight becoming an alicorn was that it threw off the party balance. It went from two unicorns, two pegasus, and two earth ponies, into one alicorn, one unicorn, two pegasus, and two earth ponies. Admittedly this was a bit of a nitpick and It stopped bothering me once I got to know the new Twilight.

Her change and esp her last form would only be acceptable if all of her friends also transformed like that. Though, id imagine that would be hard to execute lol. Maybe its a good video idea to design all of her other friends final form
I don't know who exactly said it but I know one of the show runners clarified that Twilight won't outlive her friends. Personally I interpret that as her friends either attaining immortality or just ascending to alicorn hood via the elements of harmony
I hope so, because either premise - Twilight outliving the others or Twilight not being immortal herself - would negate the point of the show from the end of S4 up to Gen5 where it's shown that Sunny only has alicorn powers when the 3 types of ponies work together.

Anyway all these look so amazing! The thing that throws me off is that Luna and Celestia have very regal voices, while Twilight's voice sounds exactly the same as when she was young; it doesn't sound like she's aged at all with her transformation. I however really liked her jewelry.

I like alicorn twilight in theory. Making her an alicorn could've been great, but i personally think she lost too many flaws too quickly. I never honestly noticed the change in dynamics with her friends and it isn't like she was the only one who had that issue. All of the characters felt like they had that (or they didn't show up as much, still bitter about AJ not being in it as much).
Also, that updated version of the castle was GORGEOUS!! I wouldn't have minded losing the library.

I wish the series made her change more as she became an alicorn like they did with the other princesses--hair, body, face, coloring. I think it would've set in more that she was a pony of high status instead of just slapping wings on her. Obviously not doing it all once she became an alicorn but at least changed her body size a bit, and maybe her hair till she was full grown for the rest.
I also wish they added silver jewelry for her instead of gold. I think it would've looked better with the darker colors on her pallet. It looked 10x better when you added the gold/yellow to her hair. Im also not the biggest fan of them giving her purple eyes along with her being purple, it seems a little over kill.
Yes, silver or maybe platinum (although platinum is quite dull compared to silver) would have looked better with the purples. Twilight could be, colour-wise, compared to an Amethyst, and Amethyst does look better set in silver, than gold. Though there is such a thing as white gold.
The real problem is with rendering silver in a cartoon. It's the same reason Usagi/Serena/Bunny from Sailor Moon (anime versions) ended up blonde, as opposed to her silver hair in the manga: silver just comes off as pale grey. That's probably why Twilight's armour/ornamentation is gold.
The music used in this video gives me strong vibes of reminiscing about a close friend you never got to say goodbye to, or like you’re seeing them for the last time. Just generally melancholic and (maybe because the subject of this video is MLP) like it strongly involves a friend.

These designs are some of the best ive seen so far, granted I havent watched very many. These are so cute and really fit her character, though not something I can see in the real show, especially with the freckles seeing as she is the main char, or rather one of the main 6, but I would not be mad if this is how the show had decided to direct with it.
Would love to see an equestria design SO MUCH, but honestly I would prefer to see Fluttershy or Rarity first :3

Originally, Lauren Faust wanted to give the characters more different designs. But at the time, Flash was limited, so most ponies ended up having the same body type.

I really like your redesigns!! I do feel however, you could’ve incorporated more earth pony elements, like stronger legs, but that’s the only thing I can critique, it’s really awesome looking
A problem I have with alicorn Twilight is that her friends are gonna die and shes gonna be living forever. I feel like it just ruins the whole point of teaching her about friendship. Whats the point of sending her to ponyville and making friends if she's gonna outlive them?? I would've preferred them all to just die together because thats (in my opinion) what true friendship is all about.
The show runners said she wouldn’t outlive her friends, which has unsettling implications for an immortal Alicorn
Maybe Twilight cast immortality spells on the other 5 or something. I mean, she can travel in time, teleport etc, so why not? Because otherwise the implication is that she's mortal, which would also mean she isn't a true alicorn. And that kind of negates the entire point of FiM post season 4.
If she did make the others immortal, then judging by the final episode, she forgot the eternal youth!
