- A bit different today - I couldn't find a straight forward, Not 10+ minute blurry or dark video to see how this is done... so here's my take on it.
I failed to mention 2 things in the video:
1: To get more play to get your fingers under the panel, Undo the 3 bolts (10mm socket) inside the center armrest (under the carpet) I don't think its required but it makes it easier.
2: Impromptu video = Not thought out. Forgive me calling a Ratchet a "drive" and a Nut a Bolt... ...Or don't forgive me. I don't care. I hope the video helped you anyway.
P.S. I know my car is filthy. Was doing spring cleaning on it. its nice and clean now! This was the most brutal winter ever and I don't have a garage to vacuum it.
Thanks a lot dude. Didn't wanna break any panels and this worked perfectly. Had to pretzel myself in my stupid coupe haha.
Currently about to do the same lol
Best video ever about how to adjust your e-brake. Thank you.
thanks for the simple non chatty video
You can do this by opening the panel under the shifter, theres info on it. I suggest that method if you have a coupe. If you have a sedan (like I do), this is way easier
Thanks soo much for this video! My dad and I both have 2017 Honda Accord Sport Special Edition's and his e-brake is much firmer than mine. Mine was very loose. This video helped me get my e-brake nice and tight again super quick.
Thank you!
AlwaysChangingMind gotta stop doing donuts in snowy parking lots.... (said no one ever)
Thank you, awesome great to the point video. Please post more
Thanks learn something new today...best video so far on brake adjustment for the honda accord.
I did on 2014 honda civic ex .
Though it need 10 mm socket.
This video helped and saved 70$ that was quoted by mechanic at dealer.
Thanks
the best video I've seen in my life
Fantastic video thank you sir 🙏🏻
Thank you that was easy with your video
Thank you for posting, you saved me time and effort 👌
Thanks right to the point and simple
Thanks for making the example of tighting up the bolt cause in video you cant really see that black bolt i thought it was the shinny one facing down ,thank again
Very helpful, thank you for the video 👍🏻
So u know 2008 -12 is the same thanks worked great
Good to hear
Thanks for the video. i thought i had to remove the console to gain access!
Excellent vid, if there were air vents for rear passengers in the center console, would the procedure be any different?
I just did this on a 2013 accord with the vents on the rear of the console. It's basically the same procedure, with two minor differences:
- there is a wire connecting the panel on the back of the console, so don't blindly rip it off
- after you pull off the panel, there is an additional step, you need to remove the black plastic air duct that blocks access to the parking brake adjustment. You can pop off the clip on the top front that holds it in place (the clip has two parts, pull the center piece out (down) and that will release it). Then the air duct is free and you can remove it
thanks that helped me alot
If you have a 2012 civic: The adjustment nut on mine was a 10mm not a 12mm. Also, on my 2012 it was much further into the console than in this video (located underneath the front cupholder basically). You can very easily pry off the trim around the gear selector and then the cupholder to have visibility. Those 2 pieces just snap on/off.
Works perfectly.. thanks!
Best video I’ve ever seen about how to adjust handbrake. Thanks 👊🇺🇦
Thanks bro saved me $90 at the shop 😂
Anytime! don't forget to subscribe!
Super helpful!! Thank you!
Thank u so much for this informative video and God Bless
appreciate. . this video really helped.
Glad to hear it!
super helpful thx !
thanks. wish i found this video first!
Sweet!
thanks so much dude saved me $62
If you DO have the rear vents can you still remove it this way?
yes you can
Thanks man!👌✌️😎
The console door is flush with the carpet... no room to get fingers underneath it. Any advice? Thanks.
Side
Nice
What size in mm of socket did you used?
I’m gonna try this but I’m not sure if it is the problem for my accord since my handbrake just completely stopped working for no reason
Hopefully it’s not any ripped cables
Generally this is because of a rusted/stuck/seized calipers/brake piston. Dealership will charge 8-900 a good shop will charge 5-600 for both back brakes.
Will this help with the wobble of the hand brake?
Up down wobble yes a bit - you need to leave some though!
@@SudzReviews yeah like it be 1 1/2 up and my brake light comes on. thanks
@@frysquid978 what I did was pull the handle one click "up" and then tighten then slack out of the lines. Give it a pull or two, make sure that the cables have ZERO tension on them when it is fully down but starts to "pull" at the first click.
@@SudzReviews ok thanks for the advice will try it out.
Manual transmission, like mine :) Thanks.
Thanks
how many turns to tighten when at two clicks?
it'll be different depending on how lose it was. just feel the cables for slack. It should be loose when the ebrake is down, but after 2 clicks there should be some tension.
@@Sudz3 didn't even need the ratchet, just and extension and 12 mm, turned it by hand .. thx :)
E brake doesnt hold after adjusment. I found out today that these cars e brakes use the calipers normal pads and not a shoe style. After i adjusted it i noticed that the brake doesnt hold but the calipers are lightly wearing. Makes me think that the calipers are my problem since i felt and saw the cable pulling the lever on the caliper.
They actuate the main pad/piston but they have their own cable to it, not hydraulic like the brake pedal. the "arm" at the back of the brake assembly ceases frequently. Basically, time for a new caliper. Rock Auto has remanufactured ones for cheap but they rust quickly. I'd spend the extra $150 and go for new parts that are painted. And you mind as well do the other side as well as if one ceases, the other usually isn't far behind.
Replacing the caliper may not be necessary. I had the same scenario, but using some PT blaster and working the e-brake lever (mounted to the back of the caliper) with a wrench, I was able to unfreeeze the lever. The e-brake works fine now. There was no issue with the caliper piston, only the ebrake lever that is exposed to the elements.@@SudzReviews
what about the model with air vents?
I don't have an uncle named bob
If you followed the instructions, you do now! Tell him I say Hi if you see him.
Doesn't seem to want to answer the question about the ones with the air vents. One other person asked this question including myself but no answer.
There’s one question about the air vents, and I think it’s fairly clear I don’t have a car with air vents - so how would I know?
@@Sudz3 looked it up in the Haynes repair manual. It's the same procedure with the automatic transmission equipped 9th generation Accords. So now you know and that one other person or anyone else who watches this video.
@@Sudz3 Thanks for your video. Just tightened mine with air vents. No need to unplug the wire, only a plastic clip holding the airduct. Auto trim and molding tools made removing the cover easier.
Clutch
No, this is the parking brake 😂
Thank you very much! Save me $.
Happy to help!
