I feel sorry for Princess Diana. She had a crush on Prince Charles since she was a little girl. I watched their fairytale wedding and wondered if she knew what she was getting in to. It seemed to me that the Royal family treated her like a broodmare. No one seemed to care about her emotional health and well-being. And yet, when Diana came to the conclusion that Charles was never going to love her, she pulled herself up and rose above it all and dedicated herself to helping others. She realized that Camilla wasn’t going away. But she could use her position to do good and make her sons proud.
So, for Charles to become King and Camilla to become Queen Consort, it’s like the cheating husband marries his mistress and gets rewarded for it! Not a good look for the Royal family. He couldn’t keep his marriage vows to Diana, so what credibility can he have in pledging anything to his fellow Britains?

At first, Elisabeth didn't want Charles to get married with Camilla. I felt sorry for her because her family pushed her into that marriage as it elevated their status. She would have been a lot happier if she had been allowed to marry someone she had things in common with. She and Charles really had nothing in common except the two boys. Diana and Charles were railroaded into that relationship. Being female muse I would hate to think I was selected to be a brood mare. It was a tragic situation from the beginning. I really felt sorry for both of them. Over my lifetime I’ve seen to many marriages fall apart and to much unhappiness when people were paired up for “status” or business purposes. I understand that Camilla does good work now and has been a feature in the Royal family for quite sometime, however, what she did and her contributions to the downfall of the marriage between Charles and Diana, Diana's battle with mental health problems etc is the reason why many people (even on the younger side) cannot look at Camilla without thinking 'hypocrite' , 'life ruiner', 'wicked' and so on.

I don't think it's due to simple sexism. I don't remember seeing anyone saying that camilla was to blame for Charles affair. People blame Charles much more than Camilla. However, from the words of Princess Diana and some other people, it seems that Camilla was smug about the fact that Charles was cheating on Diana with her in her interactions with the Princess. She didn't do anything to make life easier for Princess Diana even though she was aware of everything and that is why I have seen most people hate her.

It says a lot that Queen Elizabeth, knowing the shameful story, still recognize Camilla as Consort towards the end. To those closest to Camilla, she may have turned her failings into success. As the public, we may fully not know that success story.

I feel that Camilla is the love of his life. However, she married before Diana was in the picture. Diana turned out to be a wonderful woman who was perfect for her role. Charles was still hung up on Camilla and that was it. He is a spoiled brat in my opinion that gets pissy when things don't go his way. The Firm’s rules and the Queen not allowing Charles to marry Camila in the first place as a divorcee was the mistake. Dianna was used as a chosen filly for her blood lines, an innocent to give birth to the royal heirs then discard. Henry VIII temper in Charles shaped and made by the perfectionism expected by Prince Philip as a strict disciplinarian father. He and the Queen made the rules in an era when no one would care of Charles married a woman who already had kids or not. Very sad around.

@@60Airflyte Oh he did, but only after she married Parker Boyles. Chales wanted to play the field and not be faithful to Camilla, so Camilla married her ex. I don't begrudge her that. I begrudge her taking up with Charles again because she married another cheating man.
