I have never had an easy time breaking the bead I watch in awe as you nonchalantly step on it. I once put it back on the bike flat and drove it in a circle untill it slid off slowly of course. The amount of air in the tube is the best tip I've pinched so many tubes thinking less air was better. good video you'll save many people headaches with this one I'm always watching diy videos to see any new tips (about breaking tough beads) I guess it might be because my klr is a part time submarine
Yeh if you break the axle nut and the retaining bolts before jacking it up its a lot easier. Good tutorial though. Very informative even though i dont own a KLR. Man i which changing the tyres on mine was that easy. Sadly i need to take it to a tyre shop to break the bead and remove it. A foot wont do. :)
Good tutorial vid, very clear and easy to understand. This is probably the best motorbike tire changing tutorial I've seen since "Neduro's Tire Changing Class" on ADVrider. Your methods were quite similar too, but with the video it makes it much easier to follow.
if possible try to use something to lube the tire with that doesn't contain water, because water and oxygen will make your rim rust (With time and time again doing it over and over again, it won't happen the day after you do it) Just a tip, great video though!
@rebelyell91 Sure... Don't put the bike on the jack until you loosen the axle/bolts so the bike doesn't teeter-totter while you're working on loosening things.
Great video for the new KLR/motorcycle owner and rider. I have read from others that baby powder can cause issues such as heat from friction, premature wear of the inner tube. Would soapy water be better? That way the water evaporates leaving very little left (some soap maybe). Thank you for posting.
The new tires are Kenda 761's for everyone's reference. Was breaking the rear tires bead much harder? I've had to work on mine for a long time since I don't have a center stand or anything heavy to pinch the tire with.
Wow great video excellent clarity,camera angles, narration and editing you are really good at this. I got a 09 ninja 250 today, your videos helped me make that decision I'm also going to start vloging as soon as I get an appropriate camera setup. Am I the first Tucson vloger? lol
@ToastToGo if you go through tires, then I'd change your own tires - if you don't it may be cheaper to have it done. (: I wanted to learn so I don't get stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire (I have spare tubes)
@rebelyell91 no problem! Just learned it a couple weeks ago, I'm in college right now for auto mecanic and teacher showed us how to do car wheels and recommended using lube that has no water in it to avoid rust.
Haaah - "you should lube in order to make it pop easyer". Now if that is not wisdom, then I don't know what is. But dammmn - that bike is sooo clean . How much of washing was done before the tut? Looks like the bike only sees paved roads. Keep up the good english and the teaching - children will appreciate!
Man...I feel like a wuss bringing my tire into the shop now...haha. I need to learn how to change my sportbike tires by myself. Tire changers cost a lot, but it would pay itself off after some usage.
this is very good, thanks, i watch tyre change videos every time i come to changing the ktm tyres, this is honestly the best one i've seen, i'll be using it in a few days when my new tyres arrive, so am very much looking forward to part two thanks reb, very helpful :)
@crthebigo Actually I have a lot of inspiration and methods from both ADVrider.com and this one popular video here on UA-cam starring a Bridgestone mechanic
You make the best instructional videos, lol. It makes me want to get a KLR so i can use the video for something.
Quick tip: Leave the wheel on the floor until you get things loosened and it'll be a lot easier, Rebel.

Man power!!
Cant wait to own a ninja 250!
Brilliant videos my friend!

This was a big help. I just got the rear on and am going for the front right now. Thanks!
good job with the tire arms. it was kinda funny....
just picked up a pair of Kenda 761's for my 08 KLR..... sidewalls look pretty thick... will be putting them on in a week or 2
Having done a tire change by hand last month, I really wish I had watched this first. Really good stuff.
@chasezas good catch
Don't forget to tighten those spokes peridocially

@rodan9 be safe on the bike, and I think there may be another. but I'm not sure.
come to the Phoenix monthly vlogger meetup
Dude you are hella good at making How-to vids. keep it up!
I love your videos, but I hate how when people shoot in higher quality it loads super slow on my iPad, but I love that i can see whats going on lol
I thought it was pretty funny at 7:58 when you held the tube on your right finger, you were doing the same pointing thing on your left hand haha
Good job Rebel!
@rebelyell91 Sure... Don't put the bike on the jack until you loosen the axle/bolts so the bike doesn't teeter-totter while you're working on loosening things.
@dethman6 :) we are awesome
@Snowhite808 haha It's seen some good dirt roads, but I wash it every other month or so
Almost like a bicycle, Thanks for the HQ Vid!

@segiterrus pretty much! and thanks
@haddokandchips I know that... the bike was rocking back and forth making it harder for him to loosen things...

@loltoweak yes, a lot, size mainly
another great job on a how too vid!!!
Now I have my KLR, Im taking notes
Wow great video excellent clarity,camera angles, narration and editing
you are really good at this.
I got a 09 ninja 250 today, your videos helped me make that decision
I'm also going to start vloging as soon as I get an appropriate camera setup.
Am I the first Tucson vloger? lol
@sgtmarkins you just got the KLR right? I loved your recent video - you were soo excited haha, we need to meet up my friend
@canis002 (: because you can! I never thought I could do these things, but you just gotta say to yourself that you need to at least try
Im spoiled. When I worked at a shop had machines to get tires off.
Damn, your bikes are always so darn clean. This is a dirt bike, no?
@rebelyell91 takes the pressure off making em easier to turn
@woodenchairs it's great to hear from you again :)
@navythomas8 Thanks Tom :)
@ToastToGo if you go through tires, then I'd change your own tires - if you don't it may be cheaper to have it done.

@aric126 most dirt tires are this way
Haaah - "you should lube in order to make it pop easyer". Now if that is not wisdom, then I don't know what is. But dammmn - that bike is sooo clean . How much of washing was done before the tut? thanks reb, very helpful :)
@xDownSetx2 it was just as easy actually thanks for the reference
@929kenny I am not qualified AT ALL. you can use your fingers (:
@gdfschimpi007 butter knives? that's awesome :)
ummmm, you will not have any speedometer obviously but I'm assuming it won't record mileage as well....
@Aerolite11 haha! nice. if you get one let me know
@rebelyell91 I rarely look at the speedometer, usually got a bit faster than everyone else
good video rebel :)
Its a 19mm nut for the axel, and 6mm Allen wrench for the pinch bolts.
@GutTheCut thanks (:
Great video! I love the "safety slippers"!
@svengalie hmmmmmm......very good call. thanks Sven :)
@projekt89130 can you elaborate?
Man power FTW!
Tyre + Rim = Wheel :)
part 2???
@PaulRancourt18 great tip! :) thanks Paul
@airsoftrifleman thanks
@wastedscal haha good call
@frontier1701 very awesome, they are a great tire, I just rode both on and off road on a 2,000 mile trip from PHX to Logan, UT recently with them
back in the day i used two butter knifes to change bike tires xD
wow how do you wash your bike? its so clean!
Isopropyl alcohol(rubbing alcohol) also makes a great lubricant to use(it's actually considered an industrial lubricant).
@kratoslevit thanks (:
@wizzra haha yeah right
@svengalie Mud is hard to find here in No-rain Arizona :P but I will DEFINITELY try
@joewarcupinhull thanks (:
@davidhowellca :) thanks David! I quite enjoy doing maintenance
@warezvz in this video about 6500 miles
Lube it cause its easier to put in there. Got it ;)
@cmoney85249 haha - yeah?
@rebelyell91 Haha i dont know how i noticed it but I find it kinda funny. Sweet videos dude i love watching them. even though i dont own a bike yet..
why do you need a knew tire that one looks fine
@pulse0000 thanks (:
@dxeavy thanks (:
@brendonv101 really beads can be that tough? that's pretty interesting.
and good call on the axle nut/pinch bolts
Is there a difference between a front tire and a rear tire?
@crthebigo Actually I have a lot of inspiration and methods from both ADVrider.com and this one popular video here on UA-cam starring a Bridgestone mechanic
Baby powder keeps your tube from sticking to the tire and helps decrease your odds in shallow tire punctures, supposedly :D
@young7m on it's way
@Hotwheelsftw always good advice :)
what if you remove the speedometer cable is it going to stop recording mileage?
@sk8infreek what a weird catch lol
Awesome man. :) glad you liked it.
Thank you very much! This was a big help for both your wheel videos! Cheers -unkohole
"it's better if you lube the beads because then it's easier to pop in"
sexual innuendo alert
replacing the tube with its own tube with the same tube
:þ
haha I know right. thanks for watching.
@rebelyell91 Pick the place and time.. I have many ways of getting there..LOL
@wizzra I would buy one!!
Now i like your shoes ;) haha
nice bodom shirt i got the same one :)
yay new tyres
@MrBoo88 yeah machines are a lot easier :P
Shiniest KLR I've ever seen ;)
Thanks for the helpful video
You forgot to put tube in first. Let rim fall between and inside sidewalls. I use powder too.
"lube it, so its easier to...put it in there..." lmao
