- The ELVIS movie had a special premiere in Memphis on June 12, 2022 at the Guesthouse at Graceland. Baz Luhrmann, Tom Hanks, Austin Butler, Olivia DeJonge were there as well as Priscilla Presley, Riley Keough, Jerry Schilling and Lisa Marie Presley! Here are my experiences of what that was like

Ashley. Holy cow! I am 55 and have lived Elvis EVERYDAY since I was 8. You lived a moment that I wish I had. Saw Lisa and Priscilla at the gates in 1981.

Thanks for bringing the festivities back for us. This film, since Cannes, is on a rocket ship. Elvis is on The Tonight Show, and Good Morning America. I thought we were well past those days of publicity. Great work, as always.

Yeah its great, even Gold Rush and shows on the Discovery channel last night were sponsored by the Elvis movie. Baz and WB really are pushing it hard and it's great to see. I hope it smashes all the records that the Freddie Mercury and Elton John biopics set. And from what I've seen so far Austin Butler deserves an Oscar and pretty much every other award for a lead role in a movie performance.

Thanks for sharing this! It was so nice to see Lisa there. Especially after everything that she has had to endure over the last two years. She needed that to help her get back on her feet. Riley, who never hardly ever likes to answer questions about her grandfather, was so supportive obviously there as you saw, but also on the MTV Movie And TV Awards and on Instagram. She posted a video of Austin playing Elvis's iconic guitar while sitting on the couch in the jungle room and how she was overwhelmed with the moment. I think this movie helped her to understand her grandfather in a new way and that has made her more comfortable being a part of his legacy now. She even said after the awards show that she was apparently now on the promo tour. I know she has her own career that is blossoming, but I would like to see her become an associate executive of Graceland or of EPE and be more involved with future projects and developments. Soden is close to 80 and will probably wanna retire soon. He was planning to back in 2013 but Weinshanker asked him to hang on for awhile. They're gonna need some new vibrant blood on board soon to carry the business and legacy into the next generation of fans after this movie blows up. I honestly cannot wait to see the movie! Every clip that is available is amazing! They showed Austin doing Jailhouse Rock from the 68 Comeback Special last night on Jimmy Fallon and you would have thought it was Elvis!😳👍👍
I'm sure Elvis would adore all his grandchildren, but can you imagine how thrilled he would be to have a granddaughter that looks like his mom!

Amazing! I am so grateful for this movie. Perfect timing for the 45th anniversary of Elvis's passing come August. I can't wait to be in Memphis for Elvis Week. I pray Tom Hanks and Austin Butler make a secret surprise appearance. I love Tom Hanks and I'd love to meet him. He has always been a huge Elvis Presley fan! Ashley ,I saw Tom Hanks from the beginning with Splash, Turner and Hooch, and Joe vs the Volcano ! He has also hit a nerve in me with the saddest movie Tom Hanks has destroyed me was "Castaway" when I first saw it ! He had Elvis Presley songs 8n the movie I spoke about but this Elvis movie was so sad when they Priscilla and Elvis are in the backseat saying goodbye and crying because imagine losing the love of your life is a devastating heart bleeding situation ...............!💔💔💔😎
Well, I'm in my mid-seventies. About a decade ago, I went to Graceland and was stunned by how many young people from teenagers and into their twenties who were in line, and most of them were young ladies. I was amazed by this. Now I found you on the net, and here we go again, another yound lady who has delved into the Elvis magic. I think it's a stunning phenomena that is rarely, if ever mentioned. By the way, I still have my program from 57 plus programs and menus from Vegas and Lake Tahoe. I trust you'll keep up with your passion. By the way, at the turn of the century, PBS scowered the world for the entertainer of the century. It was of course Elvis even though had been gone for 23 yrs. Pepsi ran a prodution of bottles of Pepsi with the Artist of the Century logo on it as well as an image of E.P. Of course I have. Anyway, keep up the great work. Thanks for your effort.

It NEEDED to happen on a grand scale-and not just a "parroting" of Elvis, but an actual soulful performance and genuine performance by Austin Butler.
Loved Austin's utter humility in interviews, and THANK YOU for pointing out that Finley looks soooo much like Gladys! I have been saying that for years, and no one agreed with me! LOL

Oh gosh Ashley I just loved this. Thanks for the two clips it was great! You saw so many in one area! Love Tom Hanks too, always have. He's seems so nice in person and such a likeable guy. I wonder though why he was so thin this tme. I hope he hasn't been sick. Maybe he's just lost weight to be healthy too I don't know. Happy for you that you got to have this great weekend. Ok sooo yes for a movie review, I’m not sure when I’ll be able to go to the movie theatre to watch it, as soon as possible but anything about the movie, I’ll take it. Second, what an experience! I won’t lie, I’m dying from envy, I might have commented the same in instagram haha. Absolutely amazing you got to be there, cherish those memories for ever, I mean, of course you will ♥️ And to finish, I completely lost it when Lisa Marie started to talk, heartbreaking and her being so honest, take it or leave it, no bullshit, saying things as they are. She’s going through hell, she’s lived through so many traumas, and she is a fighter. Being there, showing up and talking, we are all so grateful for that and I hope she knows she’s loved dearly. And just for her, all the negativity surrounding the movie, the false debates regarding Priscilla/Linda/Ginger/the extended family; if the woman of Elvis’ life aka Lisa Marie, says she’s proud of this movie and of the cast and the way the story of her father is being told, I take it, and so should any fan do. Mary I'm right there with you. I've been crying with all the trailers and interviews. I already know it is going to be difficult for me to watch. I don't want anybody in the audience to make fun of me when I cry. I've decided I'm not fooling with tissues-----that will never get it. I'm taking squares of paper towel. The first trailer I saw was when he says "I'm going to be 40 soon and no one is going to remember me!" Oh my gosh I just instantly burst into tears. It hurt me so bad that he would ever truly think that. Anyway I hope and pray we both survive seeing the film.

We attended both events also and you captured the weekend perfectly. Truly a once in a lifetime experience! We were on row J too!! Can’t believe I didn’t see you, but with all of the excitement on stage and screen, I guess it’s understandable. What a great time!!

Sitting near the family during the movie had to be surreal. A few years ago I saw the Van Duren documentary (an artist that you are likely the only one here that knows about). Right before the movie started, Van Duren sat down in the seat directly in front of me. It was a strange experience to watch a movie about someone and have that person in my line of sight the whole time, less than two feet away.
At the Nashville screening? I moved to town the next day and missed it! I’m proud to call Van a friend. He’s so freaking cool. I go see him play at Mortimer’s whenever I’m in Memphis on a Thursday. Each time I come in, the next song he plays is “You And Your Sister” by Chris Bell, because that was my gateway to Van. His doc is streaming on Amazon 8/5! I’m excited to finally see it!

@@ashleysadventures Oh cool, I didn’t realize you were friends with Van! It was the showing in Minneapolis circa November 2018 at the Sound Unseen festival. I knew he would be there but didn’t expect him to be within arm’s reach during the film. (I was too shy to say hello to him.) The movie is really well done and I’m glad it’s getting a wider distribution. It deserves to be seen by more people. I have been a fan since finding Are You Serious on LP in 2000.
“You and Your Sister” is such a devastating song. It freezes me in my tracks when it comes up on shuffle. The part where Alex joins in is perfection.
Speaking of Alex, I hope the Chilton documentary gets completed and screened eventually. I was one of the Kickstarter contributors to that project… that’s how much I want to see it! I’ve seen a rough cut, but not a finished version.
I’m sure nobody else here knows what we’re talking about, but it’s nice to geek out on Van, Chris, and Alex! 🙂

It was my pleasure to meet you on Sunday night & see you again at the Town Hall on Monday. It was an honor for me to be a participant at both venues. Allow me to compliment you for this excellent report of the weekend events. I was especially thrilled to have the opportunity to see & hear Tom Hanks. He was personable & so funny. It’s a memory of a life time. And when Austin Butler receives his Academy Award for playing Elvis, we can say we saw him before his star exploded. FYI: the questions for the Town Hall were prewritten by the SiriusXM staff & handed to the specific front row guests.
