I just really like that blank stare look. Not how the jelly style does it though, just like those eyes that have an unspoken emotion behind them?? Idk?? Like it’s so blank it goes back around to being an actual expression?
Omg this has been one of my biggest issues with the jelly artstyle; Maybe it’s bc I’m an animator and naturally gravitate away from realism unless it’s for horror, but I loooove drawing exaggerated expressions!! The expressionless look can be very effective when executed well (as seen with some jelly pieces) but it just looks so…idk boring if that makes sense?
I mean it's literally one style copying one artist specific way of drawing, makes sense there's little deviation otherwise ppl wouldn't categorise it as jellyart. it's basically a trend rather than serious art style like impressionism or cubism
i do both realistic and stylized art and i think the semi-realism tend to make things like big expressions difficult to do because of how the face squish and stretch and reshapes just from making a big smile or screaming. So it can be tricky to decide how much rendering to keep in and what to exclude to stay within that semi-realistic look.
The expressions look so fun! And the rendering is so soft! Hope your videos inspires people that try the jelly style to show more expressions, because is a beautiful style. But with more life would be even more amazing 💖💖
OMG IM ACCIDENTALLY EARLY??? UR STYLE IS SO WELL DEVELOPED IF THAT MAKES SENSE AND I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABT UR CHANNEL. Omg everytime i see the jelly artstyle ITS THE EXACT SAME expression, so im so excited to see the results!!
this was a great video!! and the tip of using disney expressions its crazy useful for me. i have a mix of semi-realism w the rendering of jelly rather than anatomy cause i think its pretty but i HAVE been struggling with expressions (to the point that all of my more expressive things i do in my overly simple doodle style rather than the serious one skhjf) honestly my goal for my expression game is the artist that made the mvs for mixed messages and red flags
This was a great video! I do feel like the bottom left one was a bit off but big ups all the same because bigger expressions are SO hard to draw! I think thats the reason people gravitate to drawing a neutral face, because thats how most people learn to draw a face. Like, the proportions of the face when doing all the underlying sketch with the circle and cross and chin line, that kinda distorts (?) when you're trying to draw an exaggerated expression so it's confusing lol. But definitely important for artists to learn!
I almost SCREAMED when I saw my comment got featured in your video! That’s never happened to me before OMG! AND YOU’RE WELCOME BY THE WAY!!(sorry for all the all-caps letters, I’m just excited lmao) The art came out amazing!! I love it when art styles get pushed and experimented with like this! It’s honestly so inspiring!! I am SO looking forward to your next video whenever that may be!! Keep up the great work but like, don’t overwork yourself!
Omg I just realized a few days ago that this was actually the only reason I didn’t like the jelly art style lmao I’m just so tired of blank faces no matter how good or bad it is just give us some emotion dammit lol 😂
OMG this is only your 4th video I’m here thinking you’ve been doing this for 1+ years 😮 editing is amazing too keep going sis need more black ppl in the art community!!❤
I usually don't use myself as reference either- but mostly because I can't express. I can't do the eyebrow movements or move them certain ways that help with certain expressions. Only thing I can really do with my mouth is stick my tongue out or do that smile that looks like I'm being held at knife point lul Everyone else can be expressive but nah I'm a fish
I've committed the crime of expressionless art, it's painful but drawing expressions is just mind tearing 😩🙏
😂😂❤
TOO REALL

@@TableClothPersona THIS. THIS RIGHT HERE 👹👹(Also the fact that I'm too lazy to make them look like they're feeling anything but y'know...)
tbh its harder for me to draw emotionless faces rather than emotions😭

@lilacbuni I mean, my other gripe is subject matter.
