I use a simple laser light (sold at WalMart as a toy to get cats to chase the dot when pointing laser at ground) and lay it in the groove of one pulley and if it’s aligned it will point the beam directly in the groove of the other pulley. May have cost me $5 a few years ago.

Yes, mainly small business where they don't want to spend the money. I worked at a Chinese Restaurant, and I think they had 3 rooftop units, 1 of which was always broken, but then during the winter of 2013 I believe it was, the second unit went down. They were so cheap, for a business that grossed at least $1 million annually, that they didn't repair it ALL WINTER LONG. My fingers were numb just using the keyboard, and some customers even complained that they wouldn't be back until it was repaired. That was the most ridiculous thing I ever experienced was purposefully not repairing a rooftop furnace while your dining room is freezing because "it costs too much." And it wasn't like the business was on its deathbed - it's still open today. Although since they're Chinese I don't think they ever re-opened their dining room since the China Virus and they now rely strictly on carry-out and delivery. Maybe cheaper for them to operate without the dining room, that's likely what they're thinking being the penny pinchers they are/were.

Air balance was totally out of whack in an office building I worked in. Toss in the front desk staff closing down vents to try to control the temperature (poorly placed thermostat) causing even lower pressure in the reception area and sometimes even Hercules would have trouble opening the front doors.

I'm just a sparky mechanic tossing in my 2 cents. Would there be a way to tie a huge filter bag around the vent where that blows into the building to catch the old dust buildup? Just thinking outside the box. Like a massive fabric bag like 100 something gallon? And use a portable variable frequency drive set up just to slowly ramp up the blower to manage the dust. Or use some massive flexible duct to just short loop the makeup air directly to a vent fan?

Fuses should never be sized higher than the VA rating of a transformer. That 24v transformer being rated at 250 VA would mean something along the lines of 10 amp fuses. If there's some kind of a short or high load that expensive transformer will be burned up long before the fuses would open.

Nice job Chris. They should definitely replace that.....with DX cooling.....evaporative cooling does work....but not as good as DX does. MUA'S should be used to not cool or heat a space....but to temper the air it is bringing in. We used to maintain anywhere from 60-70° discharge air temp on all the ones I've worked on. I've worked on some really really large MUA'S before and they had up to 7 million BTU burners in them. Direct fired and some smaller ones using indirect with a heat exchanger. I like some of Greenhecks newer ones with conventional condensers that sit on top of the MUA for the summer months.

With a replacement of water in the sump a few times a day, the entire unit would run 1000% cleaner and components would last much longer.
