This game seems to be a fantastic example of what a game can and should be. No need for 100 million dollars and cutting edge graphics necessarily. Cheers guys.
Of all the games referenced, STARDEW VALLEY is definitely my favorite. I definitely wouldn't sneeze at getting a coat to check this out 😅 My wife and I have started playing games online so we can use both of our Switch systems to play independently and handheld.
Saving my $$ to try to get into The Witcher 3 properly and redeem my mistake of trading in The Outer Worlds on Friday. However thanks for covering more indie games SwitchUp, you gents are soon becoming the authority on indie gems. Well done!
I just started a new playthrough on Witcher 3 for the switch! Its absolutely worth it. I played it on ps4 back in the day, but having it mobile is amazing. It for sure one of my favorites.
It’s so nice to hear you talking about playing together and not being able to stop 😊 it’s clear that you have fun working together on this channel, and the positive vibes are contagious. Anyway, I don’t have a favourite game of this genre, didn’t play many 😅
This game has taken over my entire life! Its so enjoyable honestly. The perfect mix of Stardew Valley, Minecraft, Terraria and maybe even Satsifactory. Its very rewarding. I5 just dings all the reward centers in my brain. Perfectly executed and completely enjoyable.
@vidclarke I personally think so. I've been playing it for a long time though so I'm sure nostalgia plays a huge role in that. I'm in my 30s and I usually love games like Minecraft and I finally tried it recently but it just didn't do anything for me. But so many people love it because they've been playing it forever. It's probably the same with Terraria. But I personally love it. If you enjoy other games like Minecraft, Core Keeper, Stardew valley, I think it's absolutely worth a shot for you. 🩵
Such a good game played it on steam since early access and had to pick the physical up once it came to the switch 100% recommend if you're in to crafting/ survival games 👍
Terraria is probably my favorite in this style of game. For now, this game core keeper has a really good 1.0, so I'll absolutely be interested in how this game will turn out later down the line, as anyone who knows terraria, that game expanded quite alot with its updates. So hopefully the same is true for this game. As for tips, I recommend building crude drills with your early tin to set up a wood farm. Plant root seeds along a line, place crude drills along with a power source for them and some conveyerbelts to and the wood will grow into the drill get "mined" then move them all to a single point. Will make keeping a nice stock of wood easy.
My favourite crafting game is Minecraft as it was the first game I ever played with my friends I have very happy memories with it, it will always have a place in my heart ❤❤❤
The beauty of this game is its nostalgic charm, simplicity, and creativity. These type of games brings you back to those days when it's friday afternoon coming home from school and pleasing your dad to set up your video game. OMG take me back ❤
my favourite crafting/survival game has to be terraria. not enough people talk about it anymore. i remember playing it way back in the day on an old pc and then the proceeding to buy it on every platform i got through the years because it means to much to me. wonderful game. this looks right up my alley
Wasn't expecting Laurence llewelyn bowen to come up in this review 😂 My fave in this genre would have to be Ark: Survival Evolved AFTER the complete graphics overhaul on Switch! Such a pleasant surprise with tons and tons of content. Definitely recommend it in its current state 👍🏻
I love games in the crafting-meets-exploration-meets-farming genre. Some of my favourites of this archetype are My Time at Portia and Sandrock, the post-apocalypse setting is a cool backdrop to explore. Looking forward to this game!
Sooo… Minecraft and Stardew Valley had a baby! 🤯🤯 That lighting really levels up this art style! I’ve had it on my wish list since I heard of this game.
I haven't really played much of this genre but I have played Dragon Quest Builders 2 which I loved. This seems like a 2D version of that? Honestly this game looks right up my alley so for sure I am going to check it out at some point.
This looks like just the combination of crafting and base building that I’ve been looking for! I haven’t found anything that scratches the itch yet - I tried Terraria a while back but that was on Steam Deck and I just could not figure out the controls. This looks like it fits the bill, and that lighting is just lovely.
Honestly I like Core Keeper the best out of this genre. Great visuals, lighting, progression, soundtrack, boss battles, and captivating story. Others great one in the genre that weren't mentioned include Necesse, Starbound, Don't Starve, Noita, Junk Jack, Grounded.
My favourite game at the moment is Eastward! A beautiful 2d pixel based rpg that has combat and cooking elements. And the dlc has more of a resource gathering focus.
This game looks so great I gotta have to give it a try. I really love Minecraft, Stardew Valley, and also my favourite Graveyard Keeper, so this might be right up my alley.
You Were Right SwitchUp's Ability to Make Me Part With £££ is AMAZING! My favorite in the Survival Sandbox Adventure RPG genre would be Valheim (I think that counts anyway). I always enjoy the mechanic where skills improve just from using them so this one sounds right up my alley.
Oh wow that sounds awesome! Always like games with elder scrolls-esque leveling systems, feels natural. On a side note, it would be great to have a short section while rating audio without chatter, to have a clear impression of the music and sound effects. 🎶
I told you gents...😁 glad to finally see your review of it, I knew you guys would be the main channel that would do it justice of getting the word out to others about it. Some notes worth mentioning: Tip: I just figured this out last night lol, but when you are in your main inventory/character menu, once you acquire pets that level up, click on the small arrow at the bottom right of your character's loadout menu and it will actually open up your pet's skill tree for you to spend their points and upgrade them! Didn't even know they had a skill tree until I found that last night 😂 Also, they've made a bunch of great improvements on the interface with this latest update, you can now do things like sort your pack inventory without having to be at a chest for the button to pop up, can craft from any workstation like benches & anvils without having to physically have the needed items on your person, as long as they're in a nearby chest in your work area it'll just pull from those. I'm sure I'm forgetting some other stuff, but yeah...such a good game. This should be a no-brainer on the current 25% off sale. I didn't even know it had a physical. I might pick that up too just to have one
My favorite would be Portal Knights; spent hundreds of hours in that game. I've had my eye on this game. Thanks for the input gents. I feel like I'll probably get this eventually.
Thanks for covering it. Was worried it wouldn’t run well on switch. Look forward to getting my boys into it. Sad I’ll have to get 3 copies though that makes for a much more costly experience. Was hoping for some couch co-op. Clearly I’m too old and that’s just not a big thing anymore.
Oh come on, Mark! You did it again! Here I am enjoying the review, relieved that this game may not need to weigh down my backlog and BOOM! You mention Morrowind again!?!? Of course I now need to own this, if it reminds you of the Morrowind menu music 😢
Core keeper has been on my radar since I watched some streamers played during early access a while back. I never really played any sandbox games but always wanted to try. This game seems to be a good fit for me because of its art style, farm sims and dungeon crawling elements. Playing a free code will be a lovely way to get a friend to join me for online multiplayer 😊
Big fan of your content. I really can't get enough of your approach to the reviews and how honest you guys are. I honestly haven't played any game from a similar genre, but I really would like to give this one a crack. I am playing a survival action/adventure game called Outward, but there's something about the atmosphere of Core Keeper and how every single action means something that really makes me want to pick it up
I have been waiting to hear more thoughts on Core Keeper. The art style looks lovely. Definitely giving me 2D Minecraft vibes. I love playing Story of Seasons for the fun mix of farming, Dungeon hunting and crafting. 🎉
Bout to go on my honeymoon and me and my wife are looking for some cozy time killers and BOY does this look right up our ally. Once again, thank you guys!!!
There's something about "the dark" in video games that really freaks me out... From Donkey Kong Country to Metroid Prime... I'm trying to trace it back to my earliest gaming memory... (So I would always pick the character with the lantern!)
I've played Core Keeper on PC with my BF and LOVE it. I also play single player and had fun but as they said yes this is a fun multiplayer game at its core. At this point i do believe Core Keeper is my favorite in this style of game. Minecraft has changed to much over the years and Terraria has added so many new bosses means i would probably need to start my game over to understand what is going on.... I still play Stardew from time to time but if you are more into the exploration and caving parts of that game and not the social then i would def go with Core Keeper.
This reminds me of Minecraft with 2d sprites for the graphics. I sunk hundreds of hours with friends into that when we were all younger. Would love to get this while it is on sale to try with my daughters!
I'm glad this is finally getting Switch reviews been waiting for them as I was concerned about performance. I guess my favourite "survival" type game is Dragon Quest Builders 2 it's probably one of the best looking ones and the Dragon Quest monsters, characters etc are always enjoyable to experience. But if I want to play co op, PALWORLD is pretty fun.
this looks just like the game that will let you get seriously invested into it. i loved playing terraria in my high school days with my friends...would love to try it out
I've played tons of minecraft, terraria back then but ive been burnt out from those games other than Stardew Valley, which im currently playing with my fiance. Core keeper definitely looks like something that could get me back into the groove of the genre.
I’ve not played anything else since Core keeper came out. This game is brilliant, I would absolutely recommend this one…just prepare to lose some time!
I've been playing this game for about a week now, defeated the first 3 bosses, but I don't know why it's not gripping me? Don't get me wrong it is a very very beautiful and well made game! It has everything I like in games. I'll keep playing seeing/hoping it clicks for me and I'll have the same feeling when playing the likes of Terraria, Minecraft, Stardew valley, even Necesse etc. I know that Core Keeper is non of those games, but I was really hoping it would have filled the void left by the above mentioned🤞🏾 No shade, no hate here🤸♀️
Apart from Minecraft which I tinker in every few months, the only game I’ve played similar recently was Forager. I really enjoyed that, but then it got too grindy and slow to progress up to the nuclear level… plus the slowdown on the switch hardware was driving me nuts! If this game doesn’t have the slowdown then it’s a goer for me ⛏️ As with the unrealistic reality of completing the backlog, I think I’m at piece now knowing I’ll never win anything on this channel. It’s the participation that matters xxx
I spent a long time playing minecraft years ago, and some terraria too, but I have plenty of friends that love stardew and while that game hasn't quite grabbed me in the same way, this game looks like a fun blend of all three! fingers crossed for the free copy, not that my backlog needs even more shoved into it lol

Exactly, just make a fun game. If it's fun, I'll play it
Yes. Back in the day the games were fun and highly replayable.
Nowadays it is more about the graphics, but one or two plays is more than enough.
Im afraid to play this... I don't need another addiction 😅😅 Looks so good
This game is SO GOOD. It's so addicting! It's genuinely one of my favorite in the last year or so.
TO LATE, i am addidted now
I just got this 3 days ago, don't know what I'm doing yet but this is a very addictive game.
Of all the games referenced, STARDEW VALLEY is definitely my favorite. I definitely wouldn't sneeze at getting a coat to check this out 😅 My wife and I have started playing games online so we can use both of our Switch systems to play independently and handheld.

Is Terraria all it’s cracked up to be? It always sits on the fringes of my purchase list.
@vidclarke I personally think so. I've been playing it for a long time though so I'm sure nostalgia plays a huge role in that. It honestly reminded me of Stardew Valley meets old school Zelda. And those are two of my all-time favorite games so it seems quite nifty.
Such a good game played it on steam since early access and had to pick the physical up once it came to the switch 100% recommend if you're in to crafting/ survival games 👍
These types of games aren’t my cup of tea but I hope people enjoy playing it, looks like a good fit on switch
What is it about a warm glow in a pixilated cavern that entices us all so much?!
Terraria is probably my favorite in this style of game. These visuals are chef’s kiss 😘 Stardew valley but with dungeons
Really lovely game. Mark

Man was i suprised with how good Dragon Quest Builders 2 was when i played it. Truly a Fantastic experience.
Yes u will love this then.
I don’t need it… I don’t need it…. I NEED IT
(Just don’t tell my backlog)
Honestly it is one of the best games I have played since star dew valley or zelda echos of wisdom
As a game it always looked amazing watching it on pc, it was always a matter of performance.
Plays almsot perfectly on the switch. One crash in about 100 hrs of play and it wasn't a big deal cuz auto save happens often enough
been waiting for this review before deciding to buy or not! great video. thanks for all you guys do :)

Oh wow that sounds awesome! Always like games with elder scrolls-esque leveling systems, feels natural.
On a side note, it would be great to have a short section while rating audio without chatter, to have a clear impression of the music and sound effects. 🎶
I will never grow tired of this art style. Adding dungeon combat to Stardew Valley is exactly the right mix to spice up a life sim type game!
I told you gents...😁 glad to finally see your review of it, I knew you guys would be the main channel that would do it justice of getting the word out to others about it. Some notes worth mentioning:

Cheers for the video guys I think this is a fantastic game and definitely a hidden gem one worth picking up
Been waiting to hear if the build on the cartridge is good? This game looks like a chill good time 🔥
My favorite would be Portal Knights; spent hundreds of hours in that game.
I've had my eye on this game. Thanks for the input gents. I feel like I'll probably get this eventually.
Been a huge fan of this genre since the alpha Minecraft days, would love to try this one out!
🎉 favorite or this genre... Terraria for music, Steamworld Dig 2 for digging 😅
This is an excellent game, it is addictive!!!
I was tempted to get this game. But not sure how far i will get! I have heard good things about it and how fun it is.
I was waiting for this one on Switch
Oh come on, Mark! You did it again! Here I am enjoying the review, relieved that this game may not need to weigh down my backlog and BOOM! You mention Morrowind again!?!? Of course I now need to own this, if it reminds you of the Morrowind menu music 😢
Hahaha man the music is so damn melodic!!! ❤ Mark
This looks great! Excellent. Another game for my wishlist.
I'm mining galaxy ores as I'm watching this review 😁👍👍 glad to hear you guys like it as well 👌

I'm playing Eastward again now that I have the dlc. Core Keeper is on my wish list.
I haven't played a game like this so I can't give you a name. But I'd love to play this!
I've been getting into Don't Starve lately, which seems like a similar type of game
Core Keeper is fantastic. Loved playing it with my friends on steam in coop. Great time!
While it is a uniquely American holiday, I wish you all at Switch Up a Happy Thanksgiving.
Gives me strong stardew vibe and I love it
Well this doesn’t half bad! Keeping my eye on this one 👀
It's amazing quiet honestly.
Another quality review for a quality game
I already wanted to buy it. Now even more 😄
This is one of the best and most enjoyable games I’ve played in a long time. Thanks for doing a review of it.
I'm not much into this genre, but it definitely seems interesting. The art style is a win.
I have been waiting to hear more thoughts on Core Keeper. The art style looks lovely. Definitely giving me 2D Minecraft vibes. I love playing Story of Seasons for the fun mix of farming, Dungeon hunting and crafting. 🎉
Man Im so addicted to this game to the point that my wife even got mad at me (what barely ever happens) 😂
This is a real GEM
My most wanted game to play
Oh man.. I hardly dare to click on your links anymore 🤣. Here I am again tho and I'm sold! *Adds to backlog*
Bout to go on my honeymoon and me and my wife are looking for some cozy time killers and BOY does this look right up our ally. Once again, thank you guys!!!
My backlog will have a backlog that will have a backlog that will never stop growing 😂
Looks great
I have Core Keeper on Steam and can’t wait to pick this one up on the Switch. 💎
Survival sandbox RPG… I really like the survivalist with all the monkeys lol this game looks pretty cool
Looks amazing! Reminds me of Moonlighter. I loved that game, such a gem!
I find myself (once again) immersed in Stardew Valley 1.6. Core Keeper looks like one I "need" to add to my collection.
Already had it on PC, got it on Switch last night. No regrets.
There's something about "the dark" in video games that really freaks me out... From Donkey Kong Country to Metroid Prime... I'm trying to trace it back to my earliest gaming memory...
(So I would always pick the character with the lantern!)
I would love to get lost in this game looks like so much fun!!! Also how does this game differ from the survivalist
Thank you! This looks awesome and seems like you could lose yourself in this world. Which I like! Putting this on my wish list :)
Yeah! Knew you would like it!
I really need to give this one a go. Glad it runs well on the Switch.
Graveyard keeper has got to be my favourite game in the genre
I got it. I only heard AMAZING reviews. I m waiting for tinkertown to be fixed too btw.
I keep seeing this game everywhere! I still don't know anything about it, so I'm watching this video to find out!
Would love to get this while it is on sale to try with my daughters!
do the "last faith" in the next plz
I am excited to get into this one!! This is my favorite genre of game!
I must admit I’m new to the genre, but it looks up my alley.
Omg its looks amazing! I spent like 1000h in terraria and starbound. Nice review!!
This definitely looks like a game that I can play with my 7yo daughter xD
We usually play Roots of Pacha, Stardew Valew and Minecraft.
Stardew and Minecraft are my faves in this genre. This looks crazy-addictive and I’d love to give it a go. Love your content. Cheers!
I’ve not played anything else since Core keeper came out. This game is brilliant, I would absolutely recommend this one…just prepare to lose some time!
My favorite game of this genre might be valheim, everything in that game feels like a true viking adventure.
This game looks amazing, I loved Stardew Valley and I just bought Eastward, so this one would be a great addition to my library.
Looks really good. Gonna have to try it for sure after I finish Mario and Luigi
I've been playing this game for about a week now, defeated the first 3 bosses, but I don't know why it's not gripping me? Don't get me wrong it is a very very beautiful and well made game! Apart from Minecraft which I tinker in every few months, the only game I’ve played similar recently was Forager. I really enjoyed that, but then it got too grindy and slow to progress up to the nuclear level… plus the slowdown on the switch hardware was driving me nuts!
If this game doesn’t have the slowdown then it’s a goer for me ⛏️
As with the unrealistic reality of completing the backlog, I think I’m at piece now knowing I’ll never win anything on this channel. It’s the participation that matters xxx
Core Keeper on the pc is my favourite in this genre. I just haven't been sure whether to get it for the Switch because of the rammed controls!
Cult of the Lamb is one of my favorites
I spent a long time playing minecraft years ago, and some terraria too, but I have plenty of friends that love stardew and while that game hasn't quite grabbed me in the same way, this game looks like a fun blend of all three!
fingers crossed for the free copy, not that my backlog needs even more shoved into it lol
