Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Steven Hoffman

Meet Dr. Steven Hoffman, an assistant professor at Brigham Young University's School of Social Work and a dedicated instructor for BYU Independent Study. He teaches two online courses: Introduction to Social Work (SOCW 200) and Introduction to Social Work Research Methods (SOCW 300).
Dr. Hoffman's research focuses on health disparities among underserved youth. His studies have explored health literacy, suicidal ideation, religiosity, mental well-being, and health-related quality of life among youth in Mexico, Guatemala, and the United States.
Currently, Dr. Hoffman is working on projects that examine health literacy among young adults who were formerly in foster care, as well as the relationship between health literacy and emotional well-being among parents and youth in Mexico.
