I'm doing a no/low buy this year. No frivolous spending. No clothes. No books (except if necessary for uni). No take away. I already live a lot of frugal habits but need to save.
I really like the concept of a monthly check-in. Just a small journal entry jotted on my calendar at the end of each month & goals/improvements for the next month will keep me conscious of my goals.
I'm 76 yrs old and my kids will see the results. That's what it is all about right now. My dad lived to 97 so I told my 69 year old sister to get some. I've been in XRP for 4 months and able to accumulate 88,000 XRP.
Truly facing this recession without investment is actually risky, salaries are easily spent off.. This inflation has taught people the importance of multiples income investment helps a lot
I've stuck with the popularly Lindsey Jayden for about five years now, and her performance has been consistently impressive. She's quite known in her field, look her up
My mantra for years has been, "Give me gratitude or give me debt". It encourages me to be grateful for what I have and not take on anything I cannot pay for. I have been debt free for years.
My sister doesn't believe we're millionaires because we don't live in a fancy home, live way under our means, and don't shop at all of the stores. What she doesn't realize is that's exactly why we are millionaires.
Hilarious. My Friends cant figure out why I have a thriving Impressive business and location yet live below my means. Some now actually believe I dont own it and im just a manager 🤪
It’s always the people who are flashy, appearing to be millionaires, that fool people. Most millionaires, such as you, are unassuming and not pretentious. I can usually spot the “fake rich”. Also, congrats on your financial success 🎉👏🏻
I am the same, I have a net worth of over a million dollars, I drive an old i30 and own a 1974 home but hey I don’t have to take sh:t from any employer.
I've been tracking my expenses for years and get told I'm a liar all the time when I say my costs haven't doubled. If you watch where your money goes, you can keep your life in check.
Been binge watching the news last night about Los Angeles Fire. My deepest sympathy to the people who lost their love ones, pets and their properties. It strengthen my resolve to be simple and grateful, even with the smallest things in life like waking up on a bed this am and having a cup of coffee. I have been trying to de own stuff as much as I can within the last 5 years and still doing it. Nature can be beautiful and cruel at the same time that within just a matter of hours you lose everything. It's better to loosen your attachment to things and strengthen it with your loved ones because we know which is irreplaceable.
The money currently going towards debt - invest at least half of it each month and half of it towards emergency fund. Oh how exciting it's going to be to not have a debt payment come July. Congratulations.
I've been saying that for years. many times our thoughts control us. We think we need to have certain things or reach certain milestones in order to be content.
I am really decreasing what I buy and going through my home to eliminate all the tings I do not need ..I have come to realize how much STUFF Inhave and want to have "enough" and nothing more...
I am doing low buy this year. I can say finding personal style will definitely save you lots of money as I have already worked out what my style and dont need to buy much. I used to buy all sorts thinking I would look good but I was wrong.
That's my goal. I know I'll have to spend at least a year working my butt off to pull ahead, but I want to while I'm young enough to pull it off. I'm 41 and only getting older, after all. My hope is in 2026, I'll be at this point where I can spend more time at home again, get that work-life balance & want with plenty of hours, and take care of my garden and pets and property without biting my nails wondering about the next bill or emergency. I have so much already; just have to keep them and nurture them instead of looking at the next exciting impulsive idea that I will invest in and burn out on before I've really started on it. Stupid late-diagnosed ADHD. I can only wonder how much I could've saved learning coping skills to override my impulses years ago (facepalm).
Very precise , no exaggeration yet so thoughtful. Just what I needed to start the year!! Keep it up… I am going to give it a try and commit for 6 months. I will start with January
Thanks! I really hit a burnout wall last July, so I had to slow down. I'm feeling more ambitious going into the new year and I feel like slowing down taught me how to balance this a bit more and not stress out as much. Creating 2 videos a week is very challenging. Each video takes 20+ hours to make.

I was going to do a no spend year but I had to replace some worn out cookware. My prior set lasted almost 20 years. I got the same brand so these should last til I’m no longer on this earth 😂 Hopefully the rest of the year I will save more and not waste any money.

Dont usually comment on here , but just wanted to say the best (easily listening / straight to the point ) , most informative video i have seen so far on this subject this year. Thank you 😊
Most of the time I do my nails myself to save money & bc I enjoy it. I purchase those cheap LA colors polishes and dollar tree polishes, etc. lately I’ve encountered a problem - I can’t always remember which ones I’ve already purchased. This has led to me purchasing doubles by accident. SO I decided to make an inventory list and swatch the colors on paper. I started this tonight.. I’m going to keep a pic of the paper in my phone so I can keep up with what I already have😅 xo❤
My son noticed that I had £300 in my wallet and he asked what I was going to spend it on. I informed him that seeing money as something to be spent means that he will spend it. I told him that I would invest 20% of it and the rest would sit in a savings account until further notice.
Actually if you make $15/hr, you real hourly wage is likely closer to $10! I always calculate our hourly wage off net income. YMOYL goes deeper by deducting all your expenses from that amount (meals out, gas, work clothes, etc), but I like to keep it simple! It's been very eye opening. My husband makes $23/hr and take home is just over $15...it's really, really insane! (We do save 11% pretax in our 401k, but most is medical and taxes 😬)
You talk such sense Austin … your videos are always insightful and well structured. However, as someone who has always been bad with money, I HATE the word “FRUGALITY”; it has such negative connotations and turns me off. I think many other people find the same. Ultimately, as you’ve often explained, it is a word which is misunderstood and misused, and isn’t about deprivation at all but about spending money wisely on those things that matter to individuals. Can someone please create a better word which is a bit more sexy and positive, which draws people in and not the opposite? I think it would change the face of personal finances and budgeting. As we know, there is so much psychology surrounding money … Happy New Year btw!
Man it’s hard.. it’s like I go without buying something for a few months.. and then I’ll go and buy something expensive that I don’t need just to get a dopamine hit... and then I’m so upset with myself for the next few months… It’s a never ending battle within myself.
@ there have been so many wants! And even “necessities” I realized weren’t truly a need, and that they could wait. If I keep it up I won’t be psycheck to paycheck this month! Xo🩷
I'm always baffled at that advice "spend less than you earn" I mean seriously 😅...then again I've always raised my eyebrows when my manager who was married with 2 kids, both adults working very well paid jobs and paying a very minimal mortgage always complained to me they were In the red each month... buying luxury items and vacation probably didn't help. Worst is how she'd complain to me earning just above minimum wage😅. Better to laugh than cry about it eh 😂. Great video 👍
I will buy hobby stuff sometimes, for example, I just bought 3 comic book hardcover omnibuses. I'm intentional with most of my purchases. I have an emergency fund, no debt and I invest regularly.
My sister and her husband buy old food. They're retired. They brought it into my home. The bread was stale. I suppose they have to. I rarely buy bread. I make my own.
Yes you do Charlie...when someone identity thefts you the negative stuff they did shows up for years...like them receiving a social security disability...you have only a limitted time to correct that!!!
The best life is a simple one that this country doesn't allow one to have because everything is so expensive. I am jealous of other countries that can offer this for their citizens. Yes consumerism is a problem but so is the high cost of living in this country.
I only buy food other than my bills and invest the rest its made me a millionaire but im not ready to retire but will go part time in 5 years then retire 3-5 years after that 😮
I see some of the comments that they think it’s ironic that you’re advertising a product During this video, I don’t see a problem with it you’re not saying don’t buy anything in this video…you’re saying buy things that are valuable to you. There are products and services that provide value …you’re just putting one out there in case somebody would find some value in it.
You telling me to buy this aura and you want people to watch your channel but then you are saying you don't buy nothing how would you like if everyone said they are not going to watch your channel?
Life is too short to be frugal. How can you enjoy life? Money is oxygen for life. How can you go on a cruise, enjoy a luxury hotel experience, or enjoy life because you work hard? Fly first class! Travel the world! Enjoy a nice house and a nice car. Life is short. Don’t be so frugal that you can’t enjoy a first-class lifestyle.

“Balance” is the key component i picked up from your video content.
Important to understand that your time is actually your very valuable life, which is finite and non-negotiable. Time is the only true currency.
Spend less = work less. That's my why. No debt and an emergency fund = good sleep.
Brilliant and have less no car, pets and kids

Frugality and cutting wasteful spending can help you within investing.

I love you 😘 😊
folks, be skeptical about this guy's approach to spending. if adopted on a large scale, the economy would completely implode.
My sister and her husband buy old food. They're retired. They brought it into my home. The bread was stale. I suppose they have to. I rarely buy bread. I make my own.

I've recently discovered that being unemployed is an amazing way to stop spending money.

The best life is a simple one that this country doesn't allow one to have because everything is so expensive. I am jealous of other countries that can offer this for their citizens. Yes consumerism is a problem but so is the high cost of living in this country.

Aura Austin Williams. Why should I buy that from you when you are telling me not to buy anything else?
We need food, water, shelter. Maybe a wife and some kids too. Everything else is extra.
It's ironic. Talk about frugality and then advertise for us to buy. Just funny😊
"...because I have to pay most my income for rent, now."
When are you going to buy a house Austin?

I make 20 an hour and spend virtually nothing and it still doesn’t feel like enough.
I understand that.
Payday routine must be paying yourself (saving) every payday.
Can you tell me what you typically say in your closing comments?

You telling me to buy this aura and you want people to watch your channel but then you are saying you don't buy nothing how would you like if everyone said they are not going to watch your channel?
I have been watching the fires, people crying over stuff

Life is too short to be frugal. How can you enjoy life? Money is oxygen for life. How can you go on a cruise, enjoy a luxury hotel experience, or enjoy life because you work hard? Fly first class! Travel the world! Enjoy a nice house and a nice car. Life is short. Don’t be so frugal that you can’t enjoy a first-class lifestyle.
