OK, so, since unlike many of the people around here, at the time when this song was released, I was born and in age to listen to music, I've been a huge fan of it since day 1. And Kate Bush being literally a musical genius, I meet any attempt at a cover with a very suspicious eye. But this... 😲 I ended up with f'ing goosebumps! Congrats and thank you, Patty, that was simply awesome!
I agree. Been a Kate fan since 1978 (I'm fucking old), no one messes with kate, but I absolutely love this interpretation.
My father-in-law made a hurdy hurdy once. It never sounded this good. Or good at all for that matter. Still a labour of love, it will never leave our family.

Bloody hell Patty. This one of the better covers I've heard of late. I loved the song when it came out in 1985, and still love it. the energy you put into the music is absolutely amazing, and the gurdy is just that chef's kiss touch.

I love the original but there is something incredible about adding a hurdy gurdy to the song. I think this is everything a good cover should be, it's close enough to the original to be familiar while also being own thing. I think you did an amazing job!
A life long fan of Kate Bush, I long thought you could cover her music and do it justice while still making it your own. This cover has proved that spectacularly! Your voice has such depth and carries the story and the emotions of the song while the Hurdy Gurdy as ever adds such a unique soul to it. Thank you!
you got your gurdy to sound like a cool synth sound, it fits well with the backing track. And few can match or beat Kates voice and passion, but youve done it!
The "synth" sound in the original track is a cello sample that was sped up so it's why the hurdy gurdy sounds that close!
I could be biased but I love the giant redwoods here in california. Its enchanting and mesmerizing I could see this being performed amongst them. Absolutely beautiful cover!

I'm a massive Kate Bush fan, was there when she burst on the scenes back in '78. Now whilst some covers work and others don't, all I can say is "best cover ever"

I've heard thousands of artists in my life try to remake songs, only to have them sound butchered or half-hearted.
It's very rare to say this, but I believe you not only did this song justice but also managed to outperform the original.

I'm a little late to the party, but here it goes... Like others a mentioned, I've approached cover's of Kate's stuff with skepticism. This cover is true to the original compared to others, but has a dynamic of its on. I see that there was some question if a hurdy gurdy would work. Obviously it did, but that shouldn't had been a question since since Kate does use a lot of different folk instruments. Patty, you pretty much nailed it here.

Wow! I thought this would feel a little gimmicky, but you really gave it such energy in the vocals that it totally worked! You didn't phone it in at all! And I really like the arrangement choices, like the pizzicato part. This literally gave me chills at parts! Well done!

In Prarie Creek Redwoods State Park, California are many fantastic 1000 to 2000+ year old costal redwoods,, but look up Corkscrew tree. It is uniquely fantastic- and not too far off the road. But then it is almost 6 hours north of San Francisco int. Airport. Still it's so cool.

That was genius. A more powerful vocal than the original and the use of an instrument few people would ever have thought of using.
But scenery... landscapes, memories. I don't know the location of the video but it evokes contrasting memories: First, the peace of waking up on holiday, on a Scottish island, to spectacular countryside and wildlife. Then, as the picture becomes more red/sepia at 2:58, I'm taken a long way back in time, as a young child, looking out of the window at the naval base on the bay, then turning his attention to the portable television in the corner; "I counted them out, and I counted them all back again." And at that moment, in a corner of my mind, life became very frightening.
Ok, how about " emotional landscapes " described in Bjork's epic Joga? The song would be perfect for you and the Hurdy-Gurdy. Re-imagine it and bring it to its fullest expression .

Wow, this blew me away! No small feat to do this song justice! I have mixed feelings about the vocal effects however. In some places I really like them, but in others I feel they are a little overdone. I would love to hear a version with the raw vocals. Your voice is amazing.
