🇪🇸[4K] ASTORGA Tour | A must see on Camino de Santiago that has a Palace designed by Gaudí | #spain
You are welcome my friend! It is my pleasure to share it. I am glad that you enjoyed this tour. Thank you very much for your visit 😊 Have a wonderfull week too!
Such a beautiful and interesting city. What a magnificent palace. Thank you for sharing your wonderful video and for giving me a very enjoyable virtual tour in that amazing place. Have a great day. Greetings from the province of Nueva Ecija, Philippines.
You are welcome my friend! It is my pleasure to share it. I'm glad you enjoyed this tour and I hope you enjoy more tours. By the way, I didn't know that there was a region in the Philippines called Nueva Ecija, it must be an interesting place. There is a town called Ecija in the south of Spain, I suppose that the name comes from this town. Greetings!!
@@WalkingSpain That’s correct my friend. Our province (region) was named after that town in Southern Spain.🙂 Our country was once a colony of Spain for hundreds of years.
Wow, what a beautiful walking tour! The Catedral de Santa Maria is stunning! And the Gaudi palace at 10:57 is sublime. Wow. Sorry I couldn’t stay for the whole premiere, had to leave… I have to visit this town! Thanks for this lovely tour, my friend! Abrazos de Lisboa
Hi my friend! I am very happy about your visit 😊 Regarding the premiere, no problem, important thing is that you have enjoyed this tour at the time you want. I really recommend that if you visit the north of Spain (Galicia or Cantabria) you visit Astorga, I think you will not regret it... In addition, its gastronomy is also very good!! Hope everything goes well for you and your channel. Abrazos!!
Thank you very much for your visit my friend! I agree with you, our countries have beautiful sceneries, I wish I had your talent to be able to draw them too. Have a nice day 😊
@@ぽんとチャンネル Oh really! You have drawn the scenary of Toledo! I'm sure your illustrations are amazing (do you have any videos on your channel where I could see them?) Toledo is a very beautiful city, I hope to visit the city soon and film it. Have a nice day!
Thank you very much for your comment and welcome to my channel! I hope you visit Spain someday, you will always be welcome here. Greetings!! Have a nice day
Hola! I just finished watching on Sunday night. Another beautiful walk, really enjoyed it. I just noticed that it 'Premiered' on April 1st. Was this the first video that you did a 'premiere' for, or have you been doing them for awhile. I think a premiere has chat so people can comment in real time, like live streams. I didn't notice that you had a new video until late last night, so I guess I missed the premiere. Maybe next time. 🙂 Very interesting history about the two roads in the intro. In fact, it made me want to check out the Wiki page about Astorga. Wow, that history goes back a long way to 200k years ago. It also mentions that in 1528, the Mexican cacao bean was brought there, and that was the first chocolate in Europe. 😃 I had to laugh, because around Christmas I bought some chocolate and when I read the package, it was from Spain. I was surprised because I never knew Spain was known for its chocolate - but now I know where European chocolate began. 😃 Anyway, that Roman wall is really impressive. And I can see the first signs of spring with those flowering trees. We have similar 'dogwood' trees around here, but they won't flower for another month or so. (it's still rather cold here most days) Very interesting to see the two structures right next to each other - the palace and the cathedral. Wow, that cathedral is amazing! The front with the wooden door, and the carvings and all the rest of the art. Just amazing. Must be just as beautiful on the inside too. The smaller chapel next to the cathedral at 10:00 definitely reminded me of some of the churches that you see in the American southwest. The church bells were a nice touch too. Short but sweet, as we say. That statue or sculpture at 16:05 was interesting. Okay, kinda weird, I definitely wouldn't put that in my front yard. 😂But that's just me. Ayuntamiento - city hall. That word has a nice ring to it, I'll try to remember it (but I probably won't:). Beautiful building and town square, of course. Anyway, at 24:34 - wow again. Amazing to see those ancient remains still preserved! The structure that was built on top of it so it can be viewed so easily - fantastic. At 28:30 I really loved the view of those mountains in the distance. So peaceful there. Beautiful landscape. And all the red clay tile roofs down below. Coincidentally, I was just looking at some old pictures of Santa Barbara and all the red tile roofs there. Nice. The end of the video at 42:44, just a perfect shot of the cathedral. Very enjoyable video. Take care.
Hola! I'm glad to see you here again. How have these two weeks been in Boston? Here in Spain we are in the middle of Holy Week, or what is the same, half of the Spaniards are enjoying the religious processions and the other half are enjoying the beach 😄 I am in the first group this year. In fact I'm thinking of doing a walking tour focused on the Holy Week processions but I don't really know how to do it 🤔 because the processions are very slow and I would be filming more static than moving time... I'll figure something. In any case, I am glad that you enjoyed this tour, plus you are more informed about Astorga than I am 😄 As you say, Astorga is a city with more than 2000 years of history and as you have been able to verify on the tour, some Roman constructions are still preserved, especially the wall is really impressive and it is surprising that it has lasted almost completely for so long, it seems evident that the Romans knew how to build buildings well 😄 (although the best preserved Roman wall in Spain is located in a city called Lugo, in the north of Spain, and that I hope to visit and film soon). Regarding chocolate, it is also surprising that Europeans did not know about chocolate until the discovery of America, I do not understand how we could live so long without it😂 Also, the history of chocolate in Europe is very curious because at first it was considered a medicine, it also had a lot of popularity from the first moment it arrived in Spain and later spread to the rest of Europe. Your anecdote has caught my attention because I also had no idea that Spanish chocolate was popular outside of Spain. Regarding the premieres of my videos, it's not the first time I've done it, in fact, I've been doing it for a long time, although it's normal that you haven't noticed because I usually premiere them at 11 am (in Spain), I imagine that in Boston will be the middle of the night. Don't worry if you miss the premieres, reason why I do those premieres is to publicize the videos more, in any case I'll try to premiere some of my tours at a more appropriate time 👍... And speaking of the time, I I just realized that it's almost 2 am while I'm writing to you and I have to get up early tomorrow 😂 (when I enjoy writing, time goes by very quickly) so if you don't mind, tomorrow I'll continue with my message and keep telling you about things Astorga. See you tomorrow!!😉
Hola de nuevo! I am going to continue what I left pending yesterday 😄 I agree with you, it is an impressive cathedral, it is a mixture of different architectural styles, since as I told you in my message about the cathedral of Salamanca, these buildings used to be modified with the time or also because it took a long time to finish them, that is why elements from different historical periods were added. What I like the most about this cathedral is its main façade, it's baroque in style, which is characterized by a lot of decoration (if you ever see a church with columns as ornate as those, it's undoubtedly baroque 😄) Unfortunately I couldn't film the interior because I didn't have much time to stay in the city. Astorga is a city that I have visited several times and I know well and since it was close to the place that I went to visit (and that I will show in my next tour), I decided to go and do a quick visit before returning home. I hope that on my next visit to the city I can film the interior of the cathedral. It's true!! You are absolutely right about the little chapel next to the cathedral, it is very similar to the churches in the Spanish Missions in the western United States. I hadn't actually realized it until you mentioned it. As you say, Santa Barbara must have many elements similar to traditional Spanish architecture in its buildings, I'm looking forward to visiting those California cities and seeing it for myself. It must be like meeting a distant relative 😂 By the way, the next walking tour is located on the other side of those mountains that can be seen in the distance. Spanish cities are so full of sculptures everywhere that many times I walk past them without paying much attention but now that I know what kind of sculptures you like I will try to pay more attention to them when filming, maybe they will serve as inspiration for your front yard 😄 Although now it seems that the fashion here in Spain is to draw large murals on buildings, I especially like this 14:54 where an important battle that took place in Astorga is recreated. Ayuntamiento! You're right, it's that kind of word that foreigners are curious to pronounce 😄 As many of the Spanish words come from Latin and out of curiosity I have looked for its meaning and it is something like the action of meeting. I'm glad you enjoyed the tour. It has been a pleasure to answer your message even if it was in two parts 😂 See you!! Take care
