Something to be proud of Tyler. Folks who don’t know better will walk by that fence and think “it’s just a fence “. Those of us who have built them know the amount of time, labor and money that’s required. Great job, your grandchildren will be able to use that fence 👍🏻

It takes time, period! Worth it though, just finishing 2600 feet
You can save a lot of time if you use 2-7/8 for the posts. Then cut a bunch of 4 inch long pieces of 2-7/8 that have a saddle on one end and are flat on the other in your shop. Use 2-3/8 for the rails. The 2-3/8 will slip right into the 4 inch long pieces. This will save a lot of grinding and fitting because the 2-3/8 don't have to be exactly the length between the posts and you don't have to worry about saddles being skewed. You get a perfect fit which makes welding easier.
Seeing the aerial view, shows your audience just how much fence you actually have to complete. Good job Tyler 🇨🇦♥️🇨🇦

Fence looks excellent, super strong. One thing I've found helpful in similar situations - work on the longest span first, then if you cut something too short, you can reuse it for one of the smaller sections ...

I really really like the suggestion in the comments of cutting your LONGEST piece of pipe required FIRST, so if it's cut too short, it can be re-used , re-cut for a shorter piece of the railing. 👍👌

My Dad was a welder at Newport News Shipbuilding. he told stories about welding in tanks and other confined space where he would crawl in on his back and weld with barley 2" of headspace.
My kind of Welder! Precut Saddles, Buff rusted areas, using C-Clamps, & use a Level. It not only looks good but it will last a long time. You do Good Fabrication & Welding

Tyler, thanks for the welding primer today. In the beginning of engineering career, I was employed in several steel and piping fabrication facilities. I remember some of the welders giving me the same welder position tips that you gave. I spent several years in the quality control department and learned a tremendous amount of information concerning proper welding procedures as well as radiographic weld inspection. I learned how the welds were supposed to look but never had the opportunity to burn even one single rod. I have vowed that welding is one practice that I will learn before I die. Oops. I guess I better hurry. I'm 67. God bless you,Tyler.

Opening is great …teaching time management and tricks of trade. But I have to say for the aging “we get our exercise” walking by just forgetting where we put things and go from room to room in search‼️🤣

Ok, showing my age here, but when I took shop class and we learned to weld, there was ONLY stick welders…(1982). Yeah, 41 years ago..and you are definitely right, it is the backbone of welding, and a bit more elegant in my esteemed opinion. It also takes a LOT less extra crap and is MUCH CHEAPER!

At the welding school I attended, the instructor started us on acetylene welding, then arc welding, then mig welding and finally tig welding.
No one in the class could get an A.
The instructor advised us this day one.
Once we got certified, we could bring our certification to him and he would automatically change our grade for that certification to an A.
I took him up on it and he kept his word.
Welding is definitely a skill worth knowing.
With that skill, I later worked my way through college.
I know nothing about welding, but as a teacher, I must say that your instructor certainly was not very motivating. I've had teachers like that, too, unfortunately.

He had 35 years of experience welding from pipeline construction in Alaska to working on nuclear power plants.
When we first heard no A's, as students, we did not understand.
Our school had no equipment to x-ray our work. The only way to show a weld is perfect. (A work)
To get certified, your welding must be x-rayed.

Really enjoy your projects. May I humbly add a small suggestion. Instead of throwing the small off-cuts on the ground, I would just keep a bucket close by and throw them in there. I would hate for a cow to step on that metal and get a piece stuck in their foot.
He won't be leaving them on ground. Duh!!!! he's a FARMER !!!

Thanks for another great video. And, learning the 'how to', use good pipe/material with consistent wall thickness is important.
Yes I learned in this order Stick, mig, tig, oxy fuel welding.
When you make your first cut slide your template down the pipe to make your second cut and eliminate the bandsaw cut. Then you cut 2 times rather than 3 and you'll save even more time. 5, 10, 15 seconds with a bandsaw adds up and you save your blade and tool for another project. Looking good though and excited to see the final result. Good luck.

I did welding shopclass in highschool as well in Europe and it was the same deal. Stick welding the first 6 months.

🎸 Can't think of the name of the song you played during your welding montage but sounded really good. I upgraded to from my old Yamaha that I've been playing for years, to a Taylor (it's an upper lower end Taylor so, cost a pretty penny but not that expensive) and I was really surprised and happy with how much better it sounded. I've always known there was a difference between a really good guitar and my kind'a average Yamaha but, wow, guess you never really understand until you play it.

that fence is awesome, ur herd has met their match. I bet it would be buffalo hardy as well. Be proud of yourself, this is a huge project!
I'm not a wielder Tyler but I have seen many round pipes just flattened on the end and wielded to another round pipe and that might be a lot easier and less time consuming. But I can see where your method probably makes a MUCH stronger joint - Nothing like doing it right to start with. Nice work.

It looks great! You’re a great teacher. I tried welding many years ago (just once, just had an opportunity to try it out of curiosity). It’s harder than it looks, you make it look so easy. This just shows all your years of experience and only doing your best work. Thanks for sharing!
It looks pretty hot there. It’s in the high 90’s and high humidity here in New York State.
I worked with the boilermaker welders and tried welding in their school once. My boss decided I was much more important with a pen in my hand than with stick welding. The QA Superintendent also told him he wouldn't have a job if I had not come along. I got a dollar an hour raise.

Just an fyi. When saddling pipes if you keep your torch head directly downward when cutting your ears you won’t have to go back and thin them out. Instead of keeping the torch pointed to the center of the pipe. If that makes sense
