- In this episode we planned to make a start on the community garden.. But as could be expected, during the first digging operation to flatten the land, the digger stopped. A mechanic was directly dispatched to the site and we started to figure out what could be the problem. There is some issue with the gearbox and the digger is not moving when in gear... well sometimes it does..a little.

OK...First. Please, please don't walk under the bucket or stick your head under the bucket arms. If a hose or something in the hydraulics would let loose the buckets will drop like a guillotine. Always use heavy wooden props to hold the bucket up when you need to get under it. Second...The hydraulics for the buckets and the transmission almost have to be the same. Be sure the hand brake is releasing. Water is no friend of hydraulics. Dip the main tank with a stick and make sure no water is on the stick. This machine has extra hydraulics, because of the articulating streering. If your not full enough on the hydro oil, turning the steering wheel can give the machine fits. It's expensive but filters, oils, lube and a complete hose check out. A bottle of hydro conditioner, once you get the hydro oil level closer to full.
Change your hydronic filter fuel filter oil and filter and transmission fluid and filter. Need fresh to make sure no water in those systems Bet it goes after that

Sorry to say, but you cut all the roots of that poor olive tree…I think you killed it. If you are planning a garden there you should not remove the trees because of the shade they give. The sun will burn your crops , aside from that there is very poor soil, just stones and sand. You will have to create good soil there, that will take a few years, and everything has to be loosened up after being compacted by this heavy machine, otherwise the water will not be able to seep into the ground. I am experienced in gardening, if you want I can give you advice 😊. Good luck with your project 🍀

The engine must have good compression otherwise wouldn’t start so easy. 90% of the problems you’ll have are hydraulic lines and cylinders which are easy to do the seals and cheap. Start by cleaning all your reservoirs and do a full all fluid change
Those olive trees cost a lot money from the garden centre u destroyed one.

There should be a transmission filter too and if there’s a pan under it I would drop the pan, clean it, change the filter and fluid.

Get a manual for that model. The hydraulic and transmission are different systems. Poke and hope will only get you so far before you could make things worse. Need to find out how to check the transmission fluid levels as there will be a process to follow. Will be a really useful asset to have once sorted out .

Make sure your brake pedal is fully returning or if you have a dump pedal or dump button on your front bucket lever that they're not stuck in or down, it will be something simple like that.
There is a transmission kill switch, its wires are just twisted together.. but it worked like this line. BTW there are no breaks on the paddle :)
im not familiar with your machine but usually there will be a switch on the brake pedal or a separate dump pedal also sometimes a button on the front bucket lever and these work as a trans cut or clutch, it looks like that's where your problem is as you still have some drive, if its a ZF transmission there will be a long dipstick tube coming form the bottom of the trans, check level while engine is running, also check fuses and see that you have battery voltage on your kill switch wires. good luck 🤞 @@GhostTownVlogs
You were read the temperature of the hydraulic oil, not the level. The harder it works the hotter it gets.

Jasper, you need a maintenance manual for this specific machine. Can you post the make, model and year of your backhoe so we can help you out a bit more than guessing. Are you sure that the gear box is using the same oil reservoir as the rest of the machine hydronics? you could find that there are several oil compartments that have dipsticks/levels you need to check and set. They may also use different oils hence the need for the maintenance document. If your oil levels are sufficient, then you need to check filters, as blocked or bad filters can give the symptoms your facing as well. Which is why it is recommended to do a full fluids and filters change upon buying a new machine, because right now you have no history data to guide your decisions. Also I'd steam clean the machine and after each use note where leaks are coming from so you can address these during your scheduled maintenance. I hope that helps D

hoi hoi gezien je nederlands bent schrijf ik effe in je eigen taal,gezien de motor zo slecht start lijkt het wel of hij vrij lage compressie heeft,ik zou zeggen kijk eens of je de kleppen moet stellen ,compressie meten kan ook als dat ding gloeibougies heeft kun je via die gaten de compressie meten ,voor de versnellingsbak olie verversen en filters vervangen kan soms ook helpen gezien hij het maar af en toe doet denk ik gewoon dat hij druk verliest oorzaak kan zijn een slechte pomp in de versnellingsbak ,ik ken dat model niet ben ook geen expert maar zijn dingen die ik zou bekijken ,ik rijd zelf ook een automaat en als die te weinig olie heeft gaat hij slippen en ik denk dat die bak van jou ook gewoon slipt omdat er of te weinig olie inzit of de pomp druk verliest,en ja is een hoop sleutelen maar denk dat het wel te fixen is ,groetjes vanuit nijmegen

Oh and you should try mounting a camera, with a clamp system of some kind, on the front edge of the top side of the shovel/plow! Then you will be able to see everything and that part of the shovel never goes into the ground or makes contact with the ground !! And you can even use a home built bracket system so its more stable., But if you use "Old Betsy Beast" enough you'll soon get the hang of 'judging bucket position' without seeing.

as others have said you need to fill up with oil mine takes about 120 liters for the hydraulics it might be wise to change the filter before you fill it up the fact that it has difficulty starting is probably due to a dirty diesel filter or water in the tank there is usually a water separator looks like like a glass cup empty it then it will go like a dream again

Please could you name you digger after after my beloved cat LULU who I sadly lost recently 😢 I found her injured in the road on my way home from work one day she was almost dead and I managed to get her to a vet and save her. She lived with me happily for six years until recently when she became ill and I couldn’t save her. I miss her so much 😢
I'm sorry about the loss of your cat, but I don't think she'd appreciate being compared to that ugly contraption which was just used to kill a beautiful tree in a very gruesome way.

He is making a veg garden on his own land I think which is a great idear. I know it’s sad but Sometimes sacrifices have to be made.
