Fantastic hike. Yosemite is one of my favorite places in the world. Everywhere you look is a beautiful sight, and you did a great job bring it to all of us who may never get to see that part of the Sierras.
Awesome. I was there June 23’rd and I did the loop from the village to vernal falls and the JMT back to the bridge. Not sure if the waterfalls are always like that but wow, what a sight to behold! Couldn’t believe my luck. I wasn’t even planning on going to Yosemite but I took a detour and it ended up being the highlight of my trip.
I went June 12-14 with 3 teenagers. We did the same loop and wound up crossing the Clarks Peak trail to The downhill JMT in the pitch dark. Pretty exciting but scary(for me). I underestimated the walk from the falls to the JMT.
June 16 2022 I hiked the Four Mile Trail from the valley, then the Panorama Trail to the top of Nevada Falls and back down the JMT..... I've been to Yosemite four times in total mid-late June and can testify the falls really are that impressive (May and June being when most of the snowmelt occurs).
Like others, I want to know how you did the map animation at the beginning of this video... it's awesome. Also, when you do your panning shots, they are SO smoooooooth! Are you using a fluid head on a tripod for that? Those shots look very pro....... the walking shots with no gimbal still make me carsick...... Amazon has some nice, small gimbals at a good price.... they would massively help your videos... you have a LOT of really nice shots.....
How many miles when your first saw Nevada falls view not at top and what trail did you use . Also did you take mist trail/ we’re planning a trip for first time to Yosemite next year and not sure what trails as beginner hikers . We would love to see. Vernal not sure how far Nevada is from vernal
Doing this exact hike in two weeks with my dad! It's our first ever backpacking trip so we allowed for two nights on the trail, the first at LYV and a third at TM campground. Please share tips! I'm nervous for that climb.
You’re choosing quite the trail for your first backpacking trip - you won’t forget it! Don’t worry about the inclines, just take your time and soak up the scenery. 10/10 out there my friend! Have a great trip🤠
try sunrise trail head at tenaya lake to merced lake via echo canyon. merced lake you can base camp and day hike several lakes. exit via little yosemite down to happy isles. beautiful and mostly downhill.
Fantastic! Today in the news they said Tioga Pass is officially open for the 2020 season. You certainly keep a fast pace, I'm much slower. At the end of your vid I noticed you had Babybel cheese, so I assume it keeps well for several days? I'm always leary of bringing cheese. What's the longest you've been able to keep it in your pack?
Hi I live near Montreal, Canada, watching your videos about the Sierras, has made me want to go there, hopefully next year. What about bears ? never seen you mention that in any of your videos, I've seen a lot of deer though, lol. So have you had an encounter ? do you carry some sort of spray, etc ? Thanks, keep hiking...
I’ve ran into bears - just need to follow recommended guidelines from the local ranger district (make noise, give the bear space to escape, stand your ground, slowly back away, etc). Lots of guidance can be found online.
What a lovely way to celebrate Bloomsday, hopefully you brought along a shot of Jameson's to mark the occasion. The joy in your voice at 2:38 where you say, "I love this so much . . ." is infectious, easy to see why. The only downside (if it can be called that) is that you didn't have a couple of days more to really stretch this trek out and not have to maintain such a strong and consistent pace. Would love to have two days at Cathedral Lakes to put the feet up and ponder all those things in life worth pondering . . . In your opinion, what's the more rewarding way to do this trek -- Tuolomne to Yosemite, or the way you did it here . . ? Superb as always mate. Cheers!
In my opinion, hiking from Yosemite Valley to Tuolumne is more rewarding, with better views. I’ve hiked from Tuolumne to Cathedral Lakes a few times and it’s not as impressive except when approaching from the south. I would do this exact trip again!
This is my third time trying to get a wilderness permit from Tuolumne to Yosemite valley. I have not had the luck of receiving one, do you have any tips?
I’ve always wanted to do a long hike and overnight camping. But I’m to freaked out about sleeping in the forest not knowing what’s out there lurking in the black of night. How do you do it ?
@@Sheety33 I’m not a stranger to the outdoors. I’ve done campsite , tent camping. Not a problem. I feel more secure with other campers near by. It’s the idea of being totally alone in the blackness of night in the wilderness that makes me uneasy. I’d need to go with a group, I think that would help. I just got back from mammoth last week. Did some hiking and fishing in the back lakes. Hot tubs in mammoth and Spent the day in Yosemite valley.
@@jessnevares7861 nice! I suggest going with some friends overnight in the backcountry. If you do it enough times you may feel comfortable going alone. Good luck!
I believe he said June. Due to the pandemic shut down, I'm not sure when Yosemite will have permits available in 2020. This has been a low snow year, so the trail should be doable as of June.
There is (or used to be) a hiker shuttle bus running from the Tuolumne Meadows store back down to the Valley visitors center. Costs under $10 and is / was very convenient.
@@ellep.6204 1:24 of video will show you the sign with mileage. And bottom line on the sign should clarify your question. Or, if you don't wish to go back to video, correct, you can't bring pets on trails.

June is one of the best times for waterfalls in the park!

Since I only camped one night I figured the cheese would be ok in my pack during the day - no issues!

Baby steps. Start by campground camping, then once comfortable try it in the backcountry.

How much elevation gain did you get?
Started at 4,100 in Happy Isles and got up to 9,300 at Sunrise Lakes my first night. Was pretty much downhill from there to Tuolumne.

Overnight backpacking trips require permits. Just look up Yosemite permits. Don't know when they'll be available in 2020 due to pandemic shut down.
Yes a permit is needed for all overnight stays in the Yosemite wilderness.
