I got to try the higher spec version a few weeks back watching at night two foxes hunting rabbits in a field at 400m, could see the heat signature of a radio transmitter 16km away. Was able to see clouds with the thermal and the whole airframe of passenger jets flying into Bristol airport. Incredible piece of equipment. Definitely saving the pennies so I can go out and watch wildlife at night.
Hi. Brilliant video and I really want a pair, but all the vids I’ve watched they are very jittery by hand and they put them on tripods. Do they not have a stabiliser like a camera if so it’s not going to be very good for stalking rabbits at night which is what I would be wanting for. Thanks
Thank you, I'm so 'unstable' (being on crutches) while holding them with one hand, so not the most stable user... I just checked but there's no mention on several retail websites of image stabilisation, so the inherent stability is simply holding them with one hand, while the eyecups are against your face. 🤷♂ Thanks for watching (please share 🙏), cheers. Russ
@@janrobertbos Thanks Jan and thanks (once again) for watching. 🤝🤓 Err I already have three ZHD312R videos online (day, night and setup / testing). 🤷🏻♂️ ...or do you mean my Airgun World magazine review(?), that's in the September issue, which will be on sale in UK shops on Wednesday morning. 🤓 All the best, cheers. Russ
Thanks Russ for another comprehensive review. I find the 4k to be ideal for stalking. The thermal image is more than good enough for finding deer, then on to day mode for identification buck or doe. I no longer need to carry binoculars, thermal and rangefinder. 10 out of 10 from a stalking perspective. For birding and wildlife observatio these are hard to beat. From the hide I was pointing out bird location so fellow birders could then pick out with their optical bins.
That sounds fantastic David (thanks for commenting), I guess if you weren't a twitcher you might want the higher spec' thermal model (which are 2.6k in day mode), but it's perfect that these tick all your boxes. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
Just bought after a Hik Open Day at Sportsman Guncentre Newport. Was very impressed and very good image on day more than adequate for woodland stalking NV is pin sharp too.👍
Why does the range finder reticule look off centre when viewing 600 or 700 meter objects in optical mode. BTW it’s good to hear you talking in metric units.
Hi John, that's perhaps a minor misalignment from the factory, I don't know if there's a user option to adjust the daylight LRF aiming box position (once spotted in NV mode). I prefer metres for ranging etc, although try to give both for any measurements quoted in my magazine articles. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ

Good and useful video, I actually have bought these, and they're fine for what I need, only using sub 12 air rifle for vermin control 😊
