When Scanning you can make it stop on activity by changing a setting in Chirp. In the settings tab of chirp, there is an option of "Scan Resume Method". Set it to "CO" (carrier operated). It wont stay on the frequency long after whoever is talking keys off, but it will stay as long as they are keyed up.
I use one every day no problems, it scans all programmed channels and stops on each one , I have had good audio reports and signal reports. For Radio that only cost me $89.00 AUD I can not complain even though it is a Chines radio and btw, I programmed it manually. VK4fpkl
Before I bough the same unit like this one you got here, I read a comment on the product page that, for first time users it's not recommended because it requires a bit of programming, which scared me at first. The QYT KT-8900D works great without doing anything, but will perform better when you program (more likely just an OPTION-SETTINGS ticking/Unticking) it. For the UNLIMITED SCANNING PROBLEM (Track 1:32), you can fix it by setting to scan only 3 to 5 of your channels instead of the full 200 channels on this guy, you can set it up on the software CD that comes with it. All you need to do is install the software on the CD and connect the usb to your computer.
Hey! North Central WV! My family’s all up through there. New ham here - looking for another cheap mobile for my wife’s car for when we travel up your way. Thanks for the explanation. N4PAW
Hello? Maybe you have tried tx only icon on the signal... If you have how to fix it... All frequency on my radio are all tx only no rx... Maybe you can help...
Honestly, I'm going to hold out some extra cash and get a much better radio for my Suburban. This radio is okay; just okay. I'm going to run a terminal block right from the battery to the cabin and put a big boy radio in the truck. Big boy antenna either on hood or on my bull bar.
@@RayBecker In advance, excuse my Curious George syndrome. So why did you decide to start calling them machines? Yeah my syndrome often drives me nuts too.🙂

You know I think we all know it not a Yasue or a kenwood, I think I am happy with mine for what it can do .

If you're using repeater book it will tell you what the offset is +/-. It will also tell you what the pl tone is.
Yes it will.

I like the radio. The only problem I have is that the turn off back light option does not work.
I have one but haven't pluged the mic in lol, nor antenna.
would you recommend this mobile radio or would you recommend other models?

By machines, do you mean repeaters? When I think of machines I think of things more mechanical but perhaps just what is common to our locations.
Repeaters, yes. That's what they called them when I first was licensed

You can also use chirp software which is much better IMHO than the software QYT has
