  • Baseline comparison turns into a round up when I test out a 5G Home Internet antenna. I answer the question, how do you know if an antenna will help.

    Pete, I truly enjoy your equipment tests. I was going to ask you to compare the Maswell with the Proxicats, but you beat me to it. Thanks!

    Great stuff .. the ping was the best jump...and RSRP and MMWave needs the improvements that are coming

      I think we are going to see more with mid-band aggregation. Perhaps dual 5G bands or 5G as the primary signal.

    From the test result we can see if your signal strength are already in good or near excellent range the external antenna really don't do much.

      Ah, my scores without an antenna are a different matter. I was getting 100Mbps, now I get 700-900Mbps ! Big difference. Check out this video to maximize your score ua-cam.com/video/4E7ogM9AVSY/v-deo.html

    Hey Peter,
    I just recently got Tmobile at my home and i got the new modem with the antenna connections. My download speed are amazing often times over 500. My upload is minimal normally around 5. I purchased the new maswell 4x4 black box Omnidirectional. I have only played with it a little bit and my downloads at a few times hit around 700. But my upload hasnt really improved at all. I purchased sone longer leads and im going to mount this on a pole above my house. Do you think this will improve my upload or do you think i would be better off with a directional antenna?

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  Місяць тому +2

      When you have good signal abnormally low Upload speeds are due to band choices. The T-Mobile Gateway does not allow for band selection (band locking or exclusion) also, you will find that T-Mobile has a thing called CG-NAT (meaning that the IP address keeps changing because it is a phone network). I have found a way to fix both using modems that support Bridge Mode and allow the IP Address to be monitored using DDNS - now I can get it to serve data from my NAS outside my home at speeds of 650Mbps Down and 140Mbps UP. @@PeterC408 thank you for your reply. I will be sure to look at that video. I ended up sending that. Maxwell omnidirectional back and I purchased a panorama 4x4 mimo directional can't really find very many reviews on it but I got a very good deal. If you have any information on that brand I would appreciate it.

      @@loweralabamahomesteading4661 I've never tested it but this isn't a spot where you're trying to save money. You'd never buy the cheapest parachute or the cheapest helmet, the same thing goes for antennas. Take a look at these external modem solutions that I found, they're absolutely are game changing.

    With t mobile u only need 2 because they only use 2 bands at the same time not for when u connect 4 on your gateway it’s gonna slow down because it’s trying to make up its mind what band to connect u to

      @PeterC408  Рік тому

      I believe MU-MIMO could use all 4 and 4 antennas does give me a better signal and lower ping but 92% of the benefit is with the first antenna.

    Will these antennas cover the frequencies used by the c band channels I hear will be coming out? Verizon as well as T-Mobile?

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  Рік тому

      Yes, most of the antennas cover from 600MHz to 6GHz.. the Sub 6GHz frequency band is the best for home networking. The sweet spot for C-Band sis 3.7GHz to 3.9GHz well within range of this, an other antennas, that I have tested. This one is AMAZING ua-cam.com/video/a72fwKACD9E/v-deo.html

    Hi Peter, Generally I have excellent speeds with my T-Mobile setup (Always above 200 and has reached over 500). Setup includes an external antenna (2 antenna panel). My LTE band B2 RSRQ is -15 (T-Mobile app say this is Poor). The RSRP is -75 and the SINR is 18.2. Do you know what factors impact the RSRQ levels (noted as poor)? FYI 5G is RSRQ -11, ESRP -66 and SINR is 28.4. FYI Uploads almost always near 90-100. Don't know if I can improve the poor RSRQ at =15.?

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  Рік тому

      Interesting... Those are some pretty good scores. How far apart are the two antennas? They could be interfering with each other but your SINR is still good... it is curious but perhaps you are getting 100% of your bachhaul

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  Рік тому

      Kevin at Proxicast shared that SINR is most important. Try to maximize that, and you get your best scores.

    Is the maswell a directional antenna?

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  11 місяців тому +1

      Yes. Directional is stronger, but omnidirectional is well, omnidirectional.

    I thought that an extrernal antenna would increase ping.

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  Рік тому

      Better signal should give a more responsive network. It makes sense that a lower ping would result from a better signal. I was surprised how much RSRP made. Also, SINR made a huge difference for PING!! That makes sense too.

    The funny thing is some how lol, some where we all lost the fact that 10 gigabytes today is absolute shit today. And somehow we are all ok with this. No what we should all be paying today is 50 dollars a month for 6 gigs a month data. Anything less these days is a joke.

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  Рік тому

      T-Mobile has a hotspot plan for 100GB for $50/mo. This is incase you do not have TMHI (T-Mobile home internet) available in your area yet. They are only offering TMHI in places where they have "excess" bandwidth. Personally, my family uses about 2.1TB (2100GB)/mo. If you use this much data TMHI is an amazing deal, but when coupled with the best speed that I have ever received, it is a no brainer!!! This helps you get more out of it (more speed, lower ping).
