    Hi Angie..
    Where do I start! I am a full time corporate slave and now in the process of joining an academy to train as a MUA. I have watched as many videos as I can here on your channel, and I just want to tell you a BIG THANK YOU! You have made it so easy to understand every small and usually not spoken aspects of the industry. It's very helpful for someone like me who has very limited resources to weigh my options and get into this with a realistic approach. I really, really appreciate your work. Thank you so much 😍 BIG HUGS from 🇮🇳.

    Great video and really interested in contracts as this is something I am looking at now. Yes please to a video on bridal touch up kit, also covering yourself with insurance and how do you do an eyelash glue test? I have been told you should do a test for allergies beforehand but can't see how this is practical if the client lives far away or do you just need them to sign a disclaimer....any advice on this type of thing would be great. Love your videos by the way xx

    • @AngieDiB
      @AngieDiB  8 років тому +1

      Thanks Liz! I will cover all of that off in the contracts video for sure!!! If your client is allergic to latex they will be allergic to lash glue (unless you have one that is latex free - which you should have just in case), and the allergy test is just not time efficient considering there are a million other things in our makeup kits that people could be allergic to (if you really think about it). For the most part, people know what their allergies are and they will tell you ahead of time, but having a section in your contract indicating you are not responsible for any allergic reactions is a good thing to have.

    Hey Angie! Can you do a video maybe about how to stay organized with all your brides details? I find it difficult to keep and organize all information / photos / contracts / follow up etc. Do you keep paperwork in a physical binders or digitally? Mine are all over the place.. some in email some in my binders some in text message.. I need organization help!!!

    • @AngieDiB
      @AngieDiB  8 років тому +1

      Rachelle this is such a great suggestion. I have been using notes on my MacBook because you can add pictures and I have been organizing it by month and date. Also contracts I keep digitally in google drive and attach them to the event in google calendar so everything is in one place. I barely have any paperwork anymore so that helps too!

  • @myjim1121

    Thank you for this great advice! I wanted to ask you something though, that is off the "bridal makeup" topic. I'm a speech therapy student (final year) and I'm working for MAC on the week ends, as an intern only, and hopefully I'll make that a full time job after my graduation. I've never worked in the make up field before this, so my week ends with MAC are helping me grow and learn more than I ever thought I could. I'd like to work there for as long as needed to gain enough experience to move on to fashion and magazine shoots. I know it's suuuper early to think about this (since I still have to graduate this year then officially work for MAC for a while) but I'd like to know what you think it takes to get into the fashion industry... How long do you think I have to wait before I apply for a job in a magazine? And how does that work exactly? I mean is freelancing "safe"? Like how do you make a name for yourself in the industry and make magazines call you for shoots? And what kinds of other shoots is there? Like how do shoots for clothing lines work? How do you get called for that? And pharmaceutical products!!! That's always been a big question for me! I love the kind of make up they do for pharmaceutical products' advertising, but I never understood how that works and where??
    Anyway I'm so so so sorry for all those questions, I'd be happy with whatever you can answer! And if some of them are too large and you could make a video about them that'd be amazing!
    Thank you so much in advance, xoxo

    • @AngieDiB
      @AngieDiB  8 років тому +5

      Hey Wissal!!! These are actually amazing questions to ask, and I will do a video addressing some of these questions because they require a fairly lengthy explanation and they are questions that everyone has when they first get started. I want to take some time and figure out how to answer them properly for you, but they will definitely be in a video!!!! These are all of the types of work that I do right now in my career so I will be able to hopefully give you an answer that is helpful.

    Thanks for the informative video! I just discovered your channel and am slowly making my way through all of them. Maybe I missed something... From this video, it sounded like you also do hair? Are you a certified hair stylist? If not, I'm curious if you've had "skeptical" brides who are unsure about you doing there hair? How you convince brides to book you?

    • @AngieDiB
      @AngieDiB  7 років тому

      Hi Nethika! Yes I do both hair and makeup. You don't need to be a certified hairstylist to do session styling here (I don't cut hair) but I don't seem to have any issues with clients. If they want a certified hairdresser I encourage them to book with their own hairstylist if that is the case. I also share photos of my hair styling if requested by my clients.

      You can check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/BAUb_gGId8M/v-deo.html I go through some of the things to think about when first getting started building your portfolio. It also depends on the market you live in and what earns money - but generally speaking clean images with agency represented models and no over the top styling it what she needs to get in her portfolio.

    hey angie! i was wondering what foundation palettes you recommend for bridal makeup that would work on all skin types? thanks :)

    • @AngieDiB
      @AngieDiB  7 років тому +1

      I carry a number of different foundations in my kit - right now I have the VK11, Face Atelier, Cinema Secrets and Black Opal. Not every shade in every brand but a light medium and dark range from each. All work really well for bridal.

  • @existencevs

    Hi Angie, I am watching your videos one after the other, ...you said we could go to bridal trade show ...but what do we do exactly once there?? Who do we talk to? Do we go to photographers and say "Hi, I do makeup"!..?? I don't really see why they would introduce us to their customers? I 'm lost ahahhahah

    • @AngieDiB
      @AngieDiB  7 років тому +2

      Wedding photographers/event planners are often asked by clients to refer MUA's and can be a huge source of referrals for you. The rest is all networking which I can't guide you through. The point is to introduce yourself and present a business card, promo package or whatever you would like to use to present your work and direct these people to your website etc. However you would like to do this is up to you!

    I am getting starte and need help with the contracts. Where would I get samples from? Thank you in advance

    • @AngieDiB
      @AngieDiB  7 років тому

      Hi Renita! There are many samples you can view online and on Pinterest. I will be doing a video in a couple of weeks about what should be included in a contract, but specific legal requirements will differ depending on where you live and it is always helpful to have a lawyer review whatever contract you are using.

    What’s the difference between the consultation and the trial?

    • @AngieDiB
      @AngieDiB  7 років тому

      They are essentially the same thing.

    • @allthatashp
      @allthatashp 7 років тому

      Angie Di Battista ok. Is there a need for both? I’ve seen some free consultations where you just meet with the client and talk. And then charge for the trial and actually do the makeup

    • @AngieDiB
      @AngieDiB  7 років тому

      You can definitely do both if that is something that works for your business! I know MUA's who grab a coffee with their clients etc. before scheduling the trial and that is something great to offer as long as the consultations are short and productive.

  • @existencevs
    @existencevs 7 років тому

      @AngieDiB  7 років тому +1

    • @existencevs
      @existencevs 7 років тому

      Angie Di Battista So hard to do though. But I understand it's our time etc...just afraid to loose clients if I ask them to pay for it. Anyway thank you so very much for answering all my questions!! :))))

    • @AngieDiB
      @AngieDiB  7 років тому +3

      Always remember you are running a business, also remember that when you give away your services for free you are saying to your clients that your time and talent is not worth their money. By doing this you lessen the value of the service for other artists in the industry, in the long term this effects your own earnings and the earnings of others.

  • @AnnakarinRuisniemi
    @AnnakarinRuisniemi 7 років тому

    How many people should one mua be able to do on a bridal party? I got a booking this summer and it is bride + 3 bridesmaids. I will clock my makeup time today but I don't know if I should do this alone 🤔 thanks for great videos!!

    • @AngieDiB
      @AngieDiB  7 років тому

      That is totally up to you and how quickly you can work. I usually cap my own bookings at 4 or 5 services and bring on additional artists if need be. Also consider how long your client has to prep. I personally think prep longer than 4-5 hours for a bridal party is excessive and bringing on additional artists for services totalling more than that just makes more sense.
