The fact that this fraud removed your disclaimer and put in his own logo on the exact same spot is 100% proof that he stole your artwork and was completely aware of it! Not to mention that everything else matches your work exactly. Negligence is not an excuse for selling your artwork. Disgraceful!
And the guy holding a poster that they put their logo in on the first quibbler was taken from Danny's other quibbler!
I bought from this seller and I feel so awful now, knowing it was actually your hard work! I will definitely be changing my review on Etsy, and I am going to remake the items I bought with the original templates from your website, because I don’t want a scammer’s work in my collection. I like how this man says he didn’t know it belongs to you YET he removes the copyright marks. Even let’s say he didn’t know you, he still went out of his way to remove your name from your work. It’s sad.
I’ve had a similar experience. Some people seem to think that “got it from the internet” means free. If they can’t create competently, or are too lazy to, they should bugger off to some other trade.
him replacing that in the quibbler (and others) proves he is lying, because as you said, he changed the evidence that its yours and claims it as his own.What a complete jerk.

That’s ridiculous! Who steals from someone else who is giving the templates for free and try’s to sell them! That just makes EVERYTHING so much harder when creators like you stop doing things because others ruin it for us 😭
It's unfortunately so common. I'm a pretty active member of the fan-edit/fan-restoration community (Fan re-cuts of movies or preservations/restorations of films no longer available for purchase). These are all made available for free download by the creators (with a disclaimer that one should own an official copy of the source film if available.) and every single day I see some lazy a$$hole has burned the files of these sorts of projects to dvd/blu ray and selling them for ridiculous amounts of money on ebay or etsy. Just scum trying to make a quick buck.

Italy has some pretty strict laws regarding art. Check it out. You could recoup the loss and officially put them out of business. On another note, I hope this doesn't stop you from making such amazing products!

@@wizardryworkshop I think the guy who stole your works is your subscriber or fan whatever and he want to sell Harry Potter stuff on Etsy. So he gathered all the Harry Potter template stuff made by other artists on the Internet, and he came across your art works but he didn’t know it was your for a second until he looked all the pages included your name, UA-cam channel whatever. He realized it was your because probably he know your channel whatever. But because your art works look too good to let it go so he just stole and make profit out of it. It’s just my thought, I could be wrong maybe
So sad you have to deal with these types of people. I've had my share of similar experiences, not only with my illustration/design work, but also with my tabistry fashion patterns. My "Merry Hallows" design is all over all the online t-shirt shops, still. :/ People can be despicable, and when confronted can totally be in denial. Some don't even understand that it is wrong to do. :( I hope this doesn't discourage you from sharing. I love your work, and don't want to see it end. I know it really can make us feel crushed. :(

I went to report them for stealing but they are taking a "break"... No doubt because they are busted and are waiting for the storm to die down. I turned on email notifications for when they return. We will not forget and they will be held accountable!

I ordered, when Danny first sounded the alarm. The jerk never sent my order, until I opened a case with Etsy. So it shipped, yesterday - after 2 months. When it arrives, I can open another case, whether the shop is on a break or not.

I spent a whole summer two years ago doing your templates with your videos. I suffered from severe panic attacks and your videos were my therapy. I loved doing it. Never i my mind I thought about selling these. Man this world sucks :/

It pisses me off to no end. Not only the blatant theft, but also the lies. And even more, when caught and called out, the atempt to ingratiate and bring legitamate business their way offering something for you to review. It is frustrating that Etsy does not take copyright theft more seriously. After all, every object sold is more money in their pockets. I am so sorry this is still happening to you, Danny. Hope it gets resolved. ♥

That‘s just vile. I just don‘t understand people like that and also wish there‘d be stricter laws against it. Would they waltz into your house, stealing and reselling your property? No. (I mean hopefully not, who knows with these people) It shouldn’t be different with creative property. Sorry that’s happening to you and hope their account stays closed.
Oh my God, Danny. I have indeed purchased some items from this shop (which never arrived, in fact) and now I feel horrible because I should have known that this is your Work. I am very sorry. I have reported this shop to Etsy and also claimed a full refund for my purchase. This has been a lesson indeed! Thank you so much! And I hope, you get some justice in this case.

That’s just disgusting. They obviously knew what they were doing with removing all your credits. Wouldn’t surprise me if the things that didn’t match yours were stolen from somewhere else.

Im glad you made a video about this, this upsets me so much. This is why so many artists or customers dont trust Etsy and we arent (as artists and sellers) all this terrible!! Call him out so this nonsense stops! WHat can we do to help?!

I'm the type of petty to cold message all of the people who left him reviews who are completely unaware they paid someone to steal someone else's work and print it for them. Please post an update if they reopen with your items and I'll block off a day to be petty af. I'm sorry this is happening, it's always super disheartening. Just remember how loved and appreciated you and your hard work are. 💕

Not that the amount of stuff makes a difference, but he’s also selling your triwizard champion selection slips. The number of reviews saying they never received the promised product or it was damaged speaks volumes too

This is so sad, Danny you are so generous for putting so much hard work into your projects and sharing it for others to enjoy. I am an artist as well as my twin daughters and its so frustrating when someone comes along a steals your work and then to profiting off it is just down right dirty.
There are no words for such blatant plagiarism. We all know there’s rarely (if ever) a brand new idea, but to STEAL someone’s work in its entirety and rip off an artist who has put so much time and effort into creating freebies for his audience is downright criminal. Dealing with art theft like this is a pain. I had to deal with it a bunch when I worked with a Star Wars site. My work was always being stolen and used by others. It is such a headache. Sorry that you have to deal with it. Keep your head up and keep producing. You are one of the best in our community.

Only Warner Brothers can take legal action, since this is all their intellectual property. I'm only creating fan art, which holds no real legal ground. That's why I decided to call them out here. I've already reported then to WB. That might be why their shop is on hiatus.

It's so very disappointing to see this happening again and again. I've found your channel to be such a great source of inspiration for my own creativity so I really an very sad to see this has happened to your hard work. I've found similar issue with some of my old labels being used commercial gain when they were never made for that.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Sadly all you have to do is search biggest franchises on etsy to find a lot of stolen art being sold. It's really frustrating that etsy doesn't seem to be doing anything about it.

Man that just sucks. Those jerks are out there. As an artist who has had my work stolen by others I can say I know it's infuriating and disheartening. It's good that you are confronting them, but hopefully you won't allow their awful deeds to influence future creations and a giving spirit. So many people appreciate you and your work and follow the rules.
That's horrible! I love to support Etsy shop artist, and I never thought for a second that the items I purchase could be stolen art work! I'm definitely going to make sure that I pay attention more to who I'm buying from. So far everything I've purchased is owned by the Etsy shop artist I purchased from.
But just to make sure, I just checked my Quibbler (that I purchased from an Etsy shop artist in Spain) to see if it matches your Quibbler. Thankfully it doesn't!

I just looked them up and unfortunately, the shop is back up and of course they are still selling the stolen art. It's really unfortunate that there isn't any recourse on Etsy to get them permanently banned.

I'm so glad you made this video! You have repeatedly asked people in your videos to NOT steal your art work.... and yet they keep stealing it. It's infuriating for sure!!!! I can only imagine all the emotions you go through!!!! To think the guy made thousands of sales on Etsy. Probably tens of thousands of dollars. That all adds up! It was your hard work, effort, and long hours that designed all of those templates. It isn't right at all! Have you considered bringing a lawsuit against him? With the person being in another country is it possible to seek damages lost? I'm glad you stayed on top of everything with contacting Warner Brothers, and Etsy. This was defiently a video that needed to be made. I hope people will value your hard work, and buy items directly from your shop or make the templates them selves. I had so many negative words about that shop, then I saw your graphic at the end of the vid and I giggled. But seriously, I’ve followed you for a while and know how much work and careful thought you put into each design and to see someone blatantly and continuously steal your stuff for their profit makes me so angry. I see everyone here helping to keep an eye on the shop and it’s heartwarming. Also, the thief may open a new shop and start again so we’ll have to keep an eye out for your designs showing up in other stores.

On the first product, at first I though their story mightve been somewhat believable if they found something on pinterest from someone else that downloaded your pdf and then reuploaded to pinterest, but then when I saw that they photoshopped out your artist Attribution and replaced it with their specific etsy website info, there is just no way around that. 100 percent shady AF. You've built a great channel and website and Harry Potter fans appreciate your work. I will certainly be going straight to the source (you) for my Diy Harry Potter themed needs. Thanks for what you do.
Danny I am very sorry you are dealing with this issue. It is horrible for people to make money of your incredible imagination, talent and generosity. You are kind enough to provide your fans with templates and then this happens. It really is sad to see the dishonesty. Deliberately taking your name off you work shows that person knows exactly what they are doing. I hope their shop stays closed and other shops doing the same thing.

I'm gutted for you Danny that someone would blatantly steal your work like this, and dare lie to your face pretending they "didn't know they could do that". I usually think that WB is overdoning it with targeting creators, but this guy needs to get hit by them really hard.
So many shady sellers at Etsy but you really cannot get any support from Etsy. All they care about is the commission that they get from seller fees.

I am glad I just downloaded and made one of yours for myself (and it was fun to do!) because I don’t want to support that!

That's awful Danny but you handled it like a champ and I hope his page stays down and no more people buy from him truthfully I've downloaded every single one of your templates and have used them all for my sister for her birthday and she loves all of them.
I think I remember this exact situation happened to another huge artist, this was probably a few years ago and called him out and went through the exact conversation. He has learned nothing and the fact that Etsy to this day still lets him use his account makes me so ticked off.

Your art is amazing and the fact that you give templates away for free just so other HP fans can enjoy cool art is really awesome. He’s taken advantage of your creativity and generosity! To rip off WB is one thing but stealing from an independent artist like you is pretty low!

Brandon LaCroix over at The Philosopher's Store ran into the same problem. Auror Mercantile on Etsy stole his Auror badge design. Brandon contacted him and tried to work something out, but the guy ended up refusing and still sells the stolen design. Brandon ended up creating a new badge design in the meantime, but the other guy is still selling his rip off.
