The comment at 0:45 was great. "Yeah, sure Harvard. Is that what they want to read about in Greenwich Village now, industrial accidents?" That was a cutting remark that most liberals would not put in a movie. Beatty had total control over this movie and wrote lines like that make him look bad, especially toward the end. Many were delivered by Diane Keaton. This is the best movie ever made.
These clips are great! I am a teacher and they are very helpful for teaching my students about the Russian Revolution, Soviets and socialist/communist movements. Is it possible to correct the subtitles / automatic closed captions? This is especially important for my students who speak languages other than English. Alternatively, perhaps you could share the original video file with me and I can upload and edit myself? Thanks for creating and posting this useful video. While the original film is great it is a bit too long for my students.
- - So enthralled by Diane's performance [ and eyes ] , I didn't appreciate the supurb scene selection choices displayed here - - supurb-Superb-SUPERB - to say the least ! ! !...
"Those communities which included the greatest number of the most sympathetic members would flourish best, and rear the greatest number of offspring." Charles Darwin But yeah, heed Emma Goldman's disillusionment.
I recall the times that this movie was produced and released in. Early 1980's saw the rise of Ronald Reagan's bamboozlment of the American working class. Beattie took an enormous risk because of the political climate, many people did not want to acknowledge it, even for the historical content and context it portrayed. The Academy of motion pictures acclaimed it, but even with an impressive cast it just sort of fell flat.
Our time will come again - long live the world revolution!

What was the second line that Jack spoke in Russian after addressing the Russian workers? The first was "Long live the Russian Revolution!"
Long live the world Revolution
Couldve been so much more powerful and effective a movie if it was shorter...eaiser to watch
