    I play all the Villainous & “Marvelous” sets. Villainous is a slam dunk and I play at least once a week. I think there is room for one more expansion (Gaston, Oogie Boogie & Sid or Syndrome?)
    Marvelous is a great game and the introduction of some expansions would be nice. The ability to change the difficulty level is a great addition as well as the shared “Events” aspect.
    Yes, the pieces are made with a little less quality and it’s a disappointment after seeing the quality of the Disney ones.
    My only critique of Marvelous is this: The Disney character & card instructions are excellent. There’s no ambiguity to the rules and if you read the cards and instructions carefully and follow them as written, the game plays flawlessly. This isn’t the case with the Marvel game. There are more than a couple instances where either the character or card instructions leave questions open on how they should be followed. The game needed to be paused more than once as we consulted tried to work out the answer or search message boards to find the answers. It gave me the impression of the game production team being rushed on this one.
    All in all, these are all great games!

    My ten year old daughter played as Killmonger and beat the snot out of me and her stepdad. I had never played Villanous before, so they had one up on me. But she beat us by like two rounds. I really enjoyed this playing as Ultron.

    I agree, they definitely upped the complexity. But as a gamer, didn’t have an issue with that. I did however appreciate that they seemingly made the asymmetric objectives not quite as luck based as the earlier Villainous games (I own all of them). Certain characters in the Disney version, if you got a lucky card draw, you could win in 4 turns. In this version you have to do a bit more work which evens out the villains, I really enjoyed it

    To be fair, my biggest problem with Disney Villainous is that there wasn't enough player to player interaction and I think this game fixed it with a vengeance.

      It did for me. I always enjoyed Disney Villainous but I did wish there were some rules introduced (like a new villain) that played directly against other players. Marvel has completely solved that for me to the extent that I'm not sure I really want to play Disney at all anymore - which is a bit sad as the art is amazing and I still love many of the characters :/

    It's a step or 2 above solitaire with a comic books theme pasted on. I barely have to pay attention to what's going on until it's my turn, and, the only interactions between players are negative.

    We have this game. My family and I find it very long to build up your plots to the point that the game seems to drag at 4 players. Lots of set up and very little player interactions overall. Depends on what the Fate deck reveals and what kind of hand you draw.

  • @jacksquatjb
    @jacksquatjb 3 роки тому

    So the only real gameplay difference is having a central Fate Deck instead of individual ones, right? That's what is keeping you from combining the sets?
    What if you have the central Marvel Deck, but everyone (including Marvel Villains) kept their personal Fate Deck by them like in Disney Villainous. Then, when an opponent plays Fate against you, they pick one card from the personal Fate Deck and one from the central Marvel Fate Deck, and like in DV the opponent gets to choose which one to play against you.
    I haven't played this so Idk if there are any rules on the central Fate Cards which would be unplayable with a Disney Villain, but as of what I'm seeing it seems my workaround could allow the sets to be mixed.

      In this game you can send allies and items to other realms, which is something that Disney Villains are not prepare for. Also with Thanos the infinity stones go to other players realms, and they can use them, but some Disney characater dont have an activate action.

    I don't have this, but I have all of Disney Villainous and a lot of Marvel Legendary and enjoy both. What I love most about Disney Villainous is that thematically, it feels right. Disney Villains is its own thing, and I can see the more iconic ones grinning at one another around a cauldron, finagling their own plots while throwing wrenches in the plots of their friends/rivals. Somehow it doesn't make sense for characters like Thanos, Killmonger and Taskmaster, even if (or perhaps because) they share the same universe, at least for me. Why would Thanos, or Hela care about what any of these other villains are doing-or vice versa? This game would make a lot more sense thematically if it were Batman villains up against one deck of Batman universe heroes, or even as a Sinister 6 game. I would like to try this someday, but I don't see myself liking it better than either DisV or MarvL.

    • @changedcj007
      @changedcj007 3 роки тому

      I, respectfully disagree. I don't feel like if you can't feel the atmosphere you can't play a game, because this game is a big step up of the original, changes the originals bad fate deck, and has more fair villains rather then the ones in disney where one lucky hand could have you win, or you could never win because of how long their objectives where.

    I’m glad that they have different art on each card. Looks like they learned from Marvel Legendary. But nothing about this game appeals to me, and I can’t put my finger on why. Just seems blah. Maybe it’s marvel over load.

    • @changedcj007
      @changedcj007 3 роки тому

      I respectfully disagree I feel like the added complexity ads more of like a
      "Quirk" to each character. And this game patches up some really bad things about disney villainous where one good hand and you win plus the CRAZY insane missions you have to do. And the fate deck in that game was awful

  • @darkespiograve110886

  • @NOWTabletoping
    @NOWTabletoping 3 роки тому +4

    I really liked disney villainous, and I wanted to like this game, but the combined fate deck wasn't fun. And the game felt like a step back. It's more complex but it didn't need to be, and it made it less fun. My biggest #1 out of the box problem was that the character totems were hard plastic instead of the rubber resin that DV had. And the cauldron in this game looked horrible and felt cheap and undone.

    • @changedcj007
      @changedcj007 3 роки тому

      I, respectfully disagree. I love the combined fate deck because it added more spice. You can't get stupid cards that totally ruin the game that ARE designed for that villain every time, and makes targeting very easy. Can you elaborate on what you mean by "complex" is it the missions... ?

    • @changedcj007
      @changedcj007 3 роки тому

      Plus the Disney one has so much unfairness to it, there's house rules in my family to nerf certain villains because with one lucky hand you can win, and some villains will never win because of how long their objectives are

    definitely a pass from me. I love Villainous but the Marvel one is a cash grab off the accomplished Villainous brand. I tried it one and was Hela
    I agree that set up is too long and play is too simple. Took my bf me and friend 2.5 hrs our first game just to try it out

    • @changedcj007
      @changedcj007 3 роки тому +2

      I, respectfully disagree. I honestly don't think the marvel board game is a cash grab because it patches up bad things about the other game and adds in new things everyone wanted, which would not be a cash grab. The fate deck in villainous was unfair and was extremely stupid. The "goals" on the Disney villainous was unbalanced leading in "if I have the more easy character I win" which to have fun makes you lean towards a certain charecter you have to pick

  • @scorpian223
    @scorpian223 3 роки тому

    • @changedcj007
      @changedcj007 3 роки тому +1

      I respectfully disagree, of course if complexity isn't your cup of tea I can tell why you won't play this game. But while yes, there is unbalances (ultron for example) the amount of villains in the Disney game that have crazy insane stretched out goals take the fun out of the game, ie jafar, hook, etc. Plus the fate in that game felt very unfair when you used it, because it will always do something bad
