Aloha All, with Hawaii slowly being put on quarantine amid the Corona Virus I decided to do A instructional video on something you can do while on lock down. Set up and audio wasn't ideal but I hope I got the basic directions across. Stay safe everyone and the best social quarantine is out on the water right? :P
By the way, I forgot to mention that I appreciate you promoting barbless hooks and practice "catch and release". I do the same. In addition, I always look around for any discarded line / rubbish and remove. I also keep an eye out for line that get hung up in the rocks and attempt to remove so other anglers or turtles / seals don't get entangled. I'm working on replacing my walking stick with a pole and attaching a screw on boat mooring hook. This staff ~ 5' will replace my walking stick and give me a stable walking staff and hook to pull off line that's difficult to reach. I sometimes spend as much time pulling off line than whipping. Laters! 🤙
Nice Video 👍🏾, I was watching your other menpachi fly tying video too, can you tell me materials used, I wanna try and make some, I have never gone menpachi fishing, I wanna get into it. I tried commenting on the menpachi video but it said cannot. Hope to hear from you, Keep the videos coming . Aloha 🤙
Thank you! I appreciate the comment! The glue i use is the "core uv glue" brand that was given to me by my boss. He got it from our local tackle shop S.Tokunaga store. However, i'm sure you can find it online somewhere. Thanks for watching!
Howzit, yeah its a barrel swivel under the casting ball, when you retrieve you "pop" the ball which gets the fish excited and they will grab your fly behind. Thanks for watching! Tight lines!
Just found you Channel. I was looking into just making some simple synthetic bucktail teasers for Kastmaster lures. Then got to see what you've done and figured that I may want to go further and make additional saltwater flies. Thanks for sharing. BTW, I was wondering about the vise and found it in the Comment below. Maybe you can list all the tools and where you the link later on? Thanks!

I've been tying flies and fly fishing on maui for probably longer than you've been alive haha you should check out fly tying videos for tying a brush fly for GT
Hi I bought them as regular limerick j hooks at my local tackle shop (j hara store). To make them barbless I just smashed down the barb with a pair of pliers. Thanks for to watching
Sorry im not familiar with the kauai shops. However you can order them from cabela or amazon. www.cabelas.com/shop/en/hareline-fishair-fly-tying-material
Howzit for the living eyes the 6mm size is what i prefer. Good point on linking the tools and material, thing is all my fly tying stuff was provided for me at work so inever had to buy that much. I do buy some material from local art shops like ben franklins but amazon has most of the stuff as well. 🤙🏽
I either get the living eyes from my local tackle shop ( or online"). The best bang for your buck is buying the 100 piece generica eyes from amazon. The glue is regular UV glue, it hardens when you hit it with the blacklight
tinyurl.com/yx5anlw2 Heres the one I am using not sure exactly where my boss got it as he has had for several years before giving it to me but this is the same one.
Price wise i prefer the plastic bubble combo they are like about 1.50 each compared to hammer bombs which are about $10 one. Yes the plastic ones can break but i would rather break 10 of those than lose one hammer bomb for the same price haha plus if you are careful the plastic bubbles can and will last a really long time it just depends on if you keep banging them on rocks.
Hey David! What size hook and materials are you using? I sometimes have the same problem and my boss/mentor told me it was the way I layered the material on top of the hook. If you make the fly too top heavy it tends to spin.
Thanks haha I do get a lot of requests however all these materials are bought by my job (DLNR) so I cant sell them. However, I CAN give them away. (actually giving some away on Instagram tomorrow) but will be doing more giveaways in the future so be sure to follow our instagram for future giveaways! Mahalo for the support!
So cool!! First time seeing how these are made …. Great job

How to set up flies with the line? Dose it need bubble floater and leader? How to action
Like a Carolina rig, with a bubble floater. Pop on surface to attract the fish and they will hit the fly behind.
