Oh, I wanted to point out something (not so much a mistake as just a fun fact that was missed): K'veer was a private island owned by Veovis & his family. The mansion on K'veer was once the Veovis family home. I'm sure Veovis would have had some mixed feelings if he knew how significant that place would eventually become to his old friend Aitrus's descendants. :-)
From what I remember, the entire concept of prison books was retconned in Revelation. Cyan's D'ni historian has since stated that how Spire/Haven and the prison book used in Riven work were a simplification and artistic license for the games. We have no canonical explanation for what steps The Stranger (pc) would have taken to address this mechanical gap in either of the early games, but it's fairly clear that Atrus didn't write Spire / Haven with additional technical capabilities like capacity limit.
My theory is that Stoneship, Channelwood, Selenitic, Mechanical, and Rime were the only Ages for which the Stranger discovered journals, and so had some idea what to expect. Good thing the Stranger didn't open the tusk place of protection. The would have had basically the same result as linking to Haven or Spire: Alone with a psycho and no way back.
One of the only problems in this video is that Saavedro said he was "exiled" for 20 years, whereas this video seems to assume it was only about 10 years. Other than that, well done.
I am glad that you are bringing attention to the novels, which I think are a really underappreciated aspect of the Myst canon. I have a bunch of questions, but I’ll limit myself to one. What do you think of the relationship between Veovis and A'gaeris? To me, it really does not make sense.

I'm a little confused. I remember, from the books, that Artrus went to other Ages, found a thriving D'ni civilization, was shocked by the sheer number of slaves they employed, and then watched as the entire civilization died due to disease. I don't see that in this video. Perhaps I mis-remembered?

Correction: Ghen does not use the term "Riven." This is a term which Atrus and Catherine use to describe it. Ghen calls Riven "Age 5" or "The Fifth Age" because he gives his Ages numbers rather than proper names and Riven was the fifth Age he wrote.

Great video series, I've been hoping someone would make videos to sum up the books since I'm not really a reader.. but I am a lore enthusiast and it bothered me not knowing the backstory of the series. I guess my final question is where is Myst's descriptive book? 2. You said that Catherine had some of the rebels break into one of Gehn's book powering domes to steal a Riven linking book to take to Tay right? But the Riven linking books aren't in the domestic domes in Riven they're in the other age soooo.... how could take take a Riven book from the dome if they have to use it to return to Riven? Plot hole? 3. This is about the art itself. Now we know that the truth about the art is that you're just making a link into the multiverse and not actually creating the age you go to, right? Right. Though during this series it seems like acts such as 'editing an age's descriptive book to make the age hostile to life' or 'creating unstable ages doomed to collapse' is some evil despised act, like it's a villainous thing to do. But if the way it works is you're just creating a link. Doesn't that mean that the author isn't doing any harm to the age but merely changing the link to another version of the same place where some circumstances exist that is causing it to become hostile or die? It's not actually their writing causing the disaster it's just happening due to some natural causes and they're linking to it. Like if we're talking about the multiverse that means there's probably millions of Rivens out there that aren't unstable.. it's just the one we're in in the games IS. So what I'm saying is, it seems strange how people seem to be using this as evidence for Gehn's evil as he's destroying all these worlds and stuff by making them unstable.. Gehn did not name Riven "Riven". That was the native name for the Age. He named it the 5th Age because he numbers all his Ages rather than name them.
