  • The UK's growth rate of coronavirus-related deaths indicates that although the numbers are lower in comparison to other countries, the daily increase is converging with that of Italy's.

    So we are fast heading in the same direction as Italy: why did we not close down the airports from infected countries? why have we not been testing people from weeks ago, especially those from infected countries, why has it taken so long to PPE equipment to the NHS and people in general, who came up with herd immunity (which has potentially may have been the worse mistake anyone has ever made in UK government). These decisions may have cost thousands of lives

      @hollymai345 4 роки тому +33

      The virus takes between a few days and 2 weeks to start showing symptoms. In the severe cases, people die after they start showing symptoms. It's really simple:
      Before the lockdown, people were dumb and were ignoring social distancing. So in the time between basic social distancing being introduced and lockdown, more people got infected than should have been if people had just done as we were advised. A lot of the people who've died in the last few weeks are the people who got infected before the lockdown happened.
      Look at Italy, they've been locked down far longer than us and they STILL aren't sure if they've hit their peak yet. Because there are still people who were infected before the lockdown happened there that are dying. The lockdown here was never gonna have any affect for 3 weeks at least and we were TOLD that was the case. Plus, our testing is garbage so identifying COVID-19 patients is a ball ache anyway, but that also means that there are likely way more people who get infected and recover who aren't getting tested too.

      @deechels7412 4 роки тому +3

      I wish more people listened to this! The next two weeks or even 3 weeks death rates will rise because there's an incubation period. After that, it starts to drop. I personally think an extended forced lockdown of another 4-5 weeks once the 3 weeks are complete will be useful, as it'll show us the deaths rise then drop and then gives further time to see who else develops it after all quarantine and incubation periods are over. Therefore we should get some indication as to how many people actually broke isolation and lockdown rules in the first 2 week, as technically very few people should get it from next week onwards, unless they broke the rules. I hope that makes sense?

    But who are these people in the death statistics? Even the discredited Prof Ferguson and his Imperial team acknowledge that more than two thirds of them would have died anyway without coronavirus. Of the remainder how many had underlying co-morbidity issues and would likely have died this year? Are the overall death rates in the UK spiking from the normal 1,700 per day (2,000 in the flu season...which is now)? It seems there is little evidence to suggest they are, in fact they have been down on previous years and well below the bad flu years since 2010. What about including some other lines on these graphs to show overall 'normal' daily and annual mortality rates in each of these countries and make the comparisons. I guess they dont do this because the numbers will not support the 'panic' agenda. How about some comment on the fact that there is no standard between countries on how C-19 deaths are reported and the distinction between death from C-19 and death with C-19, two very different things. This is very poor journalism and does not serve to inform the public at all.

    And in one year in the UK, over 25000 died from the common flu. And over 1500 die a day anyway. And the health service has faced cuts year on year. And people are living longer and longer due to medical intervention so more people are moving into the vulnerable group year on year. And the food we eat is less healthy year on year . And more and more people are becoming diabetic because of , in many cases, poor dietary choices. And diabetics are now in the vulnerable groups. And the media are getting more and more hysterical day by day. And the media are focused more on prolonging life at all cost rather than considering quality of life. And to loose a loved one is tragic and horrible but the old die, it is an inevitability of life. Lets just keep it in perspective. The more people there are in the world the more will die each day. Its simple maths. And surely if we are just sensible and isolate from our older and more vulnerable loved ones we will get "herd immunity". This lock down will just wreck so many lives.
