Mr. Loren Read-a-Loud: This First Thanksgiving Day (A Counting Story)

It's the holidays! Specifically, Thanksgiving - a time when we celebrate family, sharing, trying different foods, and celebrate all that we are thankful for. We also honor & celebrate Native Americans, who lived on our land long before those famous pilgrims arrive!.
Author Laura Krauss Melmed and illustrator Mark Buehner introduce our preschoolers to a beautifully presented story of Pilgrim children and Native American children completing chores, playing, celebrating family, and all though counting and rhyme. New vocabulary, information for expanding discussions, and many opportunities comparing and contrasting discussions for kids, as they meet children like themselves from long ago. (Napping in a tree? Clamming and fishing with our hands? Playing chase!)
