Yes, a big, sequential crack-the-whip, and the paddle is the tip. Nice info, video, and split screens !
Your skills in explaining & instructing are outstanding! Thank you!
Thank you! Glad you find it helpful.
I think it worth mentioning that the LAG is created due to relaxed wrist and forward elbow motion, and NOT by cocking wrist back.
Yes! I believe I say that several times.
I saw a video that all sports have that one second lag, basketball, football throws….its the spring load.
@@Positively46yep it’s the basic sports move to generate power, in many sports, not in basketball tho. Both throwing the ball and batting, throwing a punch, Hockey shot, football throw, lacrosse throw, skipping a stone, crushing the golf ball
Love studying your videos so much. Thank you for spending the time making this type of content🙏🏾
My pleasure!
Again--Great content and presented so well--appreciate your coaching!!
Thanks!
Great video! Easy to follow the key steps with the slow motion during your explanation. Would really appreciate the same breakdown of a 2 handed backhand.
Thank you for this detailed breakdown of the forehand swing mechanics. I couldn't help but notice all the weight that has been added to her paddle, with the lead around the perimeter of the paddle it's weight is probably close to 10 ounces and greatly increasing the swingweight.
Verbal explanation and active video together is terrific as is stop screen and slow motion. So many videos just talk and show so little "examples" let alone break it down with stop screen and slow motion. Appreciate it.
Happy to hear that!
Love seeing it in slow motion , it's very helpful!! Great video, thank you for posting.
Happy to hear it’s helpful.
Great lesson. I love the slow-mo breakdown. Indeed a personal video analysis/comparison would be highly helpful. 👍 Time to get out the tripod and camera.
Yes! please do. So happy to hear this.
I love this. I’ve seen a lot of videos explaining different components, and this puts it all together really nicely. My only issue is remembering it all when I’m drilling so I can implement it. I’m not naturally athletic and I have a hard time focusing on more than one thing at a time, so I’m either thinking “turn”, “loose wrist”, “transfer weight”, etc, but to bring it all together takes me more time than I think it does for most. I’ve also tried recording myself. It’s helpful, but still hard not to get inside my own head too much. I’ll keep hitting the court at 5:30am and I’m sure it’ll eventually become a natural part of my game. Thanks for all you do!
Great work! Don’t beat yourself up. I can only focus on one thing at a time as well. Max two. That’s all most can do…including pros. One thing at a time…nail it down and then rotate to the next thing.
@@primetimepickleball Thanks! That helps a lot.
Excellent breakdown, thank you!! I’m wondering if she is trying to impart topspin on her stroke also. Kind of looks like it I think. Also, not clear what direction the paddle face should be on contact. I think it looks pretty much vertical although maybe slightly angled down.
Thanks again! The slow motion breakdown of footwork is terrific!
It depends on how high the contact is and what type of spin (if any) she wants to put on the ball. Often it’s quite vertical and usually a touch open depending on all of the above. No one size answer for this.
Thank you, this is great. Would you say she (and most) are using an Eastern grip for her forehand?
Yes
Was Kady a tennis player? I see a lot of concepts from tennis, such as the unit turn, the lag, transfer of weight and finishing over left shoulder . I have been wondering myself how can I hit harder so this video is most welcome!
Yes, she played tennis.
This is the basic sports move to generate power, whether you throw the ball, swing a golf swing, throwing a power punch, skipping a stone.

Is she hitting a flat drive or topspin drive? I’ve been taught to make a “c” with my back swing going back head high and then making a “c” on the follow through to create topspin. Her drive seems more flat but can’t tell from the camera angle.
She’s hitting mostly flat but usually there’s a small amount of natural topspin on such drives. The C is present on both flat drives and topspin. The difference for topspin is you drop the paddle head more under the ball and come up more vertically through contact.
Great video analysis. I feel like one thing missing is the need to impart top spin. If the ball is hit this hard, unless it is just clearing the net by an inch or two, it must have top spin to stay in the court. It seems she uses a bit of the windshield wiper motion as she snaps through the shot. Is that how you see it?
There is some slight topspin but yes she is hitting it quite tight to the net. Low crossing net is the main goal in addition to speed.
This is really good stuff.
😊
It seems like she's getting her paddle into position to hit at the last possible moment... Do you recommend loading sooner if possible?
I recommend doing it the way she is doing it. She’s essentially “ready” when she’s turned with two hands on the paddle. Once hands separate… it’s go time.
So well explained
Thx 😊
Very helpful,
Glad you think so!
Great lesson. Can you tell me what grip Kady is using?
Eastern
To improve your audio, get a pop screen in front of your microphone. It will really make a difference.
Thanks for the feedback
Thanks
🙂
Don't have a death grip like I used to do.
💯
You didn't talk about the grip. Hers seems to be more Eastern.
Yes Eastern
Great. A whip action.
Yeah, she can really generate that paddle head speed.
From 1-10 what is her grip.
5ish. As loose as you can reasonably keep it without paddle flying out of your hand is maybe a better way to think about it.
What grip does she use?
Eastern
It seems paddle is not in her eyesight during the take back movement. Can you confirm ?
Well, no but if she turned her eyes to the right (without moving head) she could see it.
Tight grip of about a 6/7? on a scale of 10?
Looser than that. Keep it as loose as you can without paddle flying out of your hand.
Basic tennis forehand technique.
Same components yes
